Publications that can be searched for
- When does a newly published Journal of IEICE or IEICE Transactions paper become searchable by I-Scover?
- When does a newly published IEICE Online Journal or IEICE Society Journal paper become searchable by I-Scover?
- When does a newly published IEICE Technical Report paper become searchable by I-Scover?
- When does a newly published IEICE General/Society/FIT Conference paper become searchable by I-Scover?
- Why can only a few books be searched for by I-Scover?
- Why can only a few international conference proceedings be searched for by I-Scover?
A few days after publication.
A few days after publication or at the beginning of the next month after publication.
At the beginning of the second month after the technical meeting.
A General Society Conference paper becomes searchable at the beginning of the June after the conference. A Society Conference or FIT Conference paper becomes searchable at the beginning of the December after the conference.
For publications, we have given priority to periodical publications over books. We plan to increase the number of books that can be searched for, in reverse chronological order.
For publications, we have given priority to periodical publications over international conference proceedings. We will plan to gradually increase the number of international conference proceedings that can be searched for.
Search and Display
- When using the search box located at the center of the I-Scover top page or in the upper right corner of other pages, it appears that the AND query does not work.
- In the Advanced Search, although "Other IEICE event proceedings" or "Other institute journals", etc. can be selected as "Publication classification", I cannot find any articles.
- When the number of data items that match search words exceeds 1500, I cannot display the 1501th and subsequent items.
- Is there no way of obtaining data after the 1501th item?
- In the article list, what is the "Preset order" for displaying articles?
- How is the number of views counted?
- What is the "Ranking score"?
- How do you calculate "the number of citations"?
- For many articles, no articles are displayed as "References".
- Although there are articles citing my article as a reference, there is no link from these articles to my article.
- I cannot click "Download" in the "Metadata list" page, etc.
- In the downloaded file, I cannot find the data of "relevance degree".
- When opening the downloaded file with EXCEL, strange-looking characters appear
- I have downloaded the file with the output format "BibTex" from the "Article list" page, and I tried to use the file as a list of references within the style file (sieicej.bst) defined by IEICE. An error occurred during the Tex compilation. What should I do?
- When using “Event Search”, in what order are events displayed in the EVENT contents?
When using the above search box, I-Scover allows AND queries including up to five search words. However, the AND query only works when all the inputted search words are included in the same metadata; here, metadata refers to Article, Author, Keyword, Publication, Organization and Event metadata types.
(Example 1) Search words: “wireless” AND “optical”
Some keywords, i.e., some metadata belonging to the Keyword metadata type, can be found that match both search words. This is because each of these keywords includes both search words.
(Example 2) Search words: “John Smith” AND “University”
No data item can be found matching both search words. This is because no metadata in any metadata type includes both search words even though "John Smith" is included in "the Author metadata" and "University" is included in "the Organization metadata".
(Example 3) No data item can be found matching both search words. This is because no metadata in any metadata type includes both search words even though “John Smith” and “Jane Doe” is both included in "the Author metadata".
To perform searches similar to Examples 2 and 3, please use the Advanced Search.
Although we have included "Other IEICE event proceedings" and "Other institute journals" in the search, such publications have yet been registered in I-Scover. These options allow us to register and users to search for new publications in future. When new publications are registered, we will let you know in "What's New".
This limit was imposed to reduce the system load and to limit performance degradation.
In addition to the usual way of searching, I-Scover provides API. Please use a SPARQL query from the following URL.
http://i-scover.ieice.org/iscover/api/sparql
In the initial settings, articles are displayed in the following order.
In the list of "Articles written by this AUTHOR", articles are displayed in descending order of number of citations, descending order of number of views and descending order of ranking score.
In the list of "References in this ARTICLE", articles are displayed in ascending order of reference number.
In the list of "Articles citing this ARTICLE", articles are displayed in descending order of number of citations, descending order of number of views and descending order of ranking score.
Every time the page is displayed is counted as a view.
The "Ranking Score" is set for each article in accordance with its article type as follows.
“The Journal of IEICE” article: | 60 points |
“IEICE TRANSACTIONS” paper/letter: | 60 points |
IEICE Online Journal paper: | 60 points |
IEICE Society Journal article: | 50 points |
Technical report: | 40 points |
International conference paper: | 40 points |
"IEICE General/Society/FIT Conference" paper: | 20 points |
Awarded paper: | +20 points |
A ranking score is only given to articles and not given to books and multimedia.
The number of articles registered as references in other articles in I-Scover is defined as "the number of citations". In the "Preset order" for displaying search results, articles are displayed in descending order of number of citations. If your article is referred to by articles registered in I-Scover in the future, it will be displayed higher in the search results.
"References" are only displayed in the articles of the following publications, whose bibliographic information of references is provided to I-Scover as metadata.
IEICE Transactions: Papers published since January 1968
IEICE Transactions (Japanese Editions): Papers published since January 1968
IEICE Online Journals: All articles published in NOLTA, CoMEX and ELEX
IEICE Society Journals: All articles published in Fundamentals Review and B-Plus
Please be aware that the identification of references is technically very difficult and is not complete. If you find a missing link or mislinking, please inform us via the following URL.
https://www.ieice.org/~iscover/en/inquiry/
Please select "(IEICE members only) Request for data correction or name identification" as the "feedback category".
In I-Scover, the identification of references (name identification) is carried out for reference information in compliance with the "Style of references" described in "Information for Authors" of IEICE Transactions.
The downloading of files is a function only available to IEICE members. If you are an IEICE member, please log in and use.
Because of the limitations of the system, the "relevance degree" data calculated in the search process cannot be included in the output file. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this restriction.
Since it is a Unicode (UTF-8) format file, you need to select the encoding format and open the file. For details, please refer to the following URL.
A BibTex format file downloaded from I-Scover may contain URL format data. If "_" (underscore) is included in the URL data, an error will result in the Tex compilation. In addition, the title, keyword and abstract entered by the author may also contain the TeX format, and this also causes an error.
Please correct as appropriate or delete inappropriate data by yourself.
When you click on “IEICE Conference/Symposium/Workshop/Colloquium” in the “Event Search” menu, Conferences/Symposia/Workshops/Colloquia will be displayed in the “EVENT contents” in alphabetical order of the Society’s identification code, i.e., from A (“Engineering Sciences Society”) to D (“Information and Systems Society”), as defined by the IEICE. When you click on “IEICE General/Society Conference” in the “Event Search” menu, General/Society Conferences will be displayed again in alphabetical order of the Society’s identification code. When you click on “International Conference” in the "Event Search” menu, international conferences will be displayed in alphabetical order of the conference name. Already held events, such as 20xx International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP20xx), are always displayed in reverse chronological order, i.e., from the newest, in the "EVENT contents” lists.
Metadata displayed in I-Scover
- For a paper that I wrote, can I change the abstract or keywords?
- For some papers, the keywords given by the authors seem to be inappropriate. Does IEICE plan to change the keywords of such papers?
- Who sets the "Explanation of technological terminology", "Synonyms”, "Keywords (higher in the inheritance tree)" and "Related keywords" for each keyword?
- For many keywords, why has "Explanation of technological terminology", "Synonyms”, "Keywords (higher in the inheritance tree)" or "Related keywords" not been set?
- For some keyword metadata, the URL hyperlink to DBpedia is shown in the Metadata details page. For example, http://dbpedia.org/page/MIMO is shown in the Metadata details page of the Keyword metadata "Multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO)”. How can I use this information?
- Why do I get multiple authors as search results when I search I-Scover using my own name? I am sure some of them must be myself.
- Corrupted characters appear in some of the pages of I-Scover.
- I would like to input "Homepage" information as a data item in my "Author metadata." How can I do it?
The abstract and keywords cannot be changed. This is because the paper body as well as the abstract and keywords should have been determined at the time of publication of your paper.
At present, we do not plan to change the keywords given by the authors. However, when a keyword is judged as the synonym of another keyword, it will be displayed differently from the one given by the author. For example, if "FDMA" is given as a keyword, "FDMA" will be treated as a synonym for "Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA)" and will be displayed as "Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA)".
Authorized researchers with IEICE membership set this information after meetings to discuss authorization.
Setting this information requires a lot of time and effort. As an experimental trial, we have started to fill in the information for keywords in some specific technical fields. We will add the information upon receiving a request from a Technical Committee. Please inform us via the following URL.
https://www.ieice.org/~iscover/en/inquiry/
I-Scover deals with not only articles but also authors, publications/events and keywords as stored metadata. By dealing with keywords as metadata, I-Scover shows the list of articles for which a designated keyword is given by the author. The list is shown as "Related articles” located in the lower left of the display when you select Keyword metadata.
Title, Author/Affiliation, Keyword, Abstract, etc., are shown in the Metadata details when Article metadata is selected. Similarly, keyword-related information is shown in the Metadata details when Keyword metadata is selected. As the keyword-related information, the "Explanation of technological terminology" of the keyword, which is provided by authorized researchers with IEICE membership in the relevant technical field, and a hyperlink to the "DBpedia” page corresponding to the keyword are shown for several Keyword metadata. We are providing this information for those unfamiliar with the given keyword, and we hope it will be useful when you need more information on the keyword.
At present, only a few Keyword metadata have an "Explanation of technological terminology" and/or a hyperlink to DBpedia. We are now increasing the number of Keyword metadata that have this information. DBpedia is a crowd-sourced community dedication to extracting the structured information from Wikipedia and making this information available on the Web.
In I-Scover, an author’s full name, IEICE membership number and affiliation are used for "Name identification”. Incomplete data or changes in affiliation would hamper accurate identification. If you find multiple authors who must be yourself, please inform us via the following URL.
https://www.ieice.org/~iscover/en/inquiry/
Please select " (IEICE members only) Request for data correction or name identification" as the "feedback category".
We have been trying to correct the corrupted characters but are aware that some characters have not yet been modified. Please inform us of cases of character corruption via the following URL.
https://www.ieice.org/~iscover/en/inquiry/
In the present version of I-Scover, no metadata can be modified by yourself even if it is information about yourself. Please inform us via the following URL when you need to make a modification.
https://www.ieice.org/~iscover/en/inquiry/
We will modify your "Author metadata" provided you are an IEICE member.
