Gaza

KinderUSA works with a broad range of partners implementing programs that target the most vulnerable children, focusing on health and nutrition, education, development, and relief. Until the blockade on Gaza is lifted, life in Gaza for children will continue to regress as the rest of the world moves towards a brighter future.

Gaza is home to more than 1.6 million people – more than half children- living in 140 square miles. It is estimated that by the year 2020 the population will increase to 2.1 million.

Gaza’s economy normally relies on trade, communication, and movement of people and goods but the blockade on both land and sea imposed by Israel has isolated the population and destroyed any chance for independence and prosperity. Children and their families in Gaza are the most marginalized in the Middle East. Gaza has one of the youngest populations worldwide with over 51% under the age of 18, and the second highest worldwide population of children between the ages 0-14.
