Try Agave. Agave is a very simple application for the GNOME desktop that allows you to generate a variety of colorschemes from a single starting color. It is free software licensed under the open-source GPL License.

Agave has been added to the official Debian repository as well. It is available in 'unstable' As usual, you can install it with a simple apt-get install agave.

Agave has been added to the official Ubuntu repository for the next release: "Edgy Eft". You'll need to enable the universe repository to install it. If you're running Edgy, you can install it with a simple apt-get install agave.

Agave is available in the Fedora Extras repository. You can install it with a simple yum install agave if you have the extras repository enabled.

Status

Agave is currently very usable, but is still beta-quality software. It's very likely that the program has some minor bugs, and not all of the functionality is implemented yet.
