Lippy: Kate Talks About Charlotte Tilbury, The Makeup Brand Taking the Beauty Industry by Storm

Lady Tilbury

Lippy-feature2

The first lady of makeup – well one of them anyway, along with my other favourites Val Garland, Alex Box and Kabuki. She’s painted some of the most famous celebs, is a Vogue cover artist multiple times, has worked on campaigns and shows for Tom Ford, Missoni and Michael Kors to name a few and I’ve no doubt she would probably be Kate Moss’s first choice for any occasion.

The daughter of an artist father, she moved to Ibiza when she was 9-months-old (she was cool before she was famous) but returned to London a 13, where after school she started a successful career in makeup. It’s only natural and about bloody time that this genius brought out her own makeup range. Having consulted for some of the major beauty houses in the past, it’s exciting to have her share her secrets and tips with her own brand.  Fellow makeup artists and beauty buffs have been waiting with bated breath and I finally got up to Dublin last week for a play.

The shiny counter in Brown Thomas Grafton Street’s new cosmetic hall is laid out for even the most timid of makeup junkies to use. Each look is displayed, product by product under its stunning visuals for you to play. You can choose the key products or take away everything to have you looking like the stunner in the campaign. You can buy “The Look” as such as it’s cleverly laid out for you. Check out some of the visuals below.

Her miracle magic cream has already caused quite a stir. A potion she’s been mixing herself for years. Under makeup, it leaves the skin looking airbrushed and flawless. Prep for the perfect canvas.

Now I’ve never been a fan of contouring in real life. In that, unless you are followed by a lighting crew, it looks a little harsh in reality. Fine for a photoshoot but in the wrong hands these contour kits can look stripy and dirty. However, Charlotte’s Filmstar Bronze and glow is one of the best I’ve used. Subtle enough to not look dirty yet in photos and real life people have noticed and complimented my defined features. It’s so easy to use.

Charlotte has managed to create a brand that not only every makeup artist wants in her kit, but also made it easy enough for the general public to use. Not an easy feat.

I was a tad disappointed at first as the colour wasn’t too visible and thought it was just a pigment issue. Turns out, like the contour set, it’s so effective without being obvious. Someone even asked me did I get my lips done. Result.

Last but not least I picked up Wonder Glow, a pre-foundation illuminator that gives the ultimate soft focus. Making the skin appear soft and photoshopped, yet not too shiny. You could mix this with your foundation also. I’m in love with everything I got and can’t wait to order more.

Check out Charlotte Tilburys collection for yourself at Brown Thomas Grafton Street or online.
