Pennywise and the Losers’ Club Highlighted in New ‘IT’ Images

IT Pennywise Stephen King New Line

You won’t have to wait much longer to see the first footage from director Andy Muschietti’s first film in his two-part feature adaptation of Stephen King’s IT, as the trailer is set to drop this coming Wednesday. Of course, you’ll find it right here as soon as it does. In the meantime, we’re here today to whet your appetite for that trailer even more than it’s already whet!

The folks over on USA Today just scored three new images from IT. The first image (above) teases the new Pennywise behind a red balloon; the second introduces the new Losers’ Club; and the third shows the kids being attacked by Pennywise. Only his hand appears in the latter shot, but it’s enough to send chills up the spine. Check out the images below.

Muschietti also talked Pennywise in a little chat with the site:

Pennywise’s character is motivated by survival. In order to be alive in the imagination of children, he has to keep killing. It’s established that Pennywise takes the shape of your worst fear. He doesn’t have a steady behavior, he doesn’t expose how he thinks, and that’s what makes him really unpredictable.

In theaters September 8, 2017, the film is set “in a small town in Maine, where seven children known as The Losers’ Club come face to face with life problems, bullies, and a monster that takes the shape of a clown called Pennywise.“

Bill Skarsgard stars as Pennywise, the sewer-dwelling monster.

Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Nicholas Hamilton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, and Jeremy Ray Taylor are the modern Losers’ Club.

Creature performer Javier Botet will play The Leper, and Owen Teague plays Patrick Hocksetter, a bully who torment the Losers’ Club.

Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg, and Barbara Muschietti produce.

  • Aaron King

That bottom one gives me chills. Only two days till we see the trailer!

  • Dr. Acula

    ‘the i-phone club’

    • WoodsboroKiller

set in the ’90s i believe so i don’t think so, buddy

      • Dr. Acula

wow the actors are time travelers

  • Sky Commander

Looks solid particularity like the Pennywise with the balloon photo.

  • REC03

that bottom picture is everything and the casting looks spot on! Wednesday can’t come soon enough!

  • Meisha’s Taint

WTF is up with his fingers? Super creepy. The more they show the more I think this could be the rare remake that could be better than the first. Count me in

  • ChasingTheGhost

Loved that they did the claws, reminds me of the book cover. Can’t wait for Wednesday!

  • Drew999

    I like it!

  • mfmeitbual

One of the pics definitely looks like the house on Neiboldt Street. I’m excited.

    • Aaron Johnson

Yeah. The pic with the hand may be the werewolf in the Neiboldt Street basement.

  • Tiger Quinn

    So it’s Stranger Things.

  • The Drucifer

This is looking more and more like a Dr Pepper type situation instead of the Dr Topper I feared it might be. I’ll hold steady at my current state of Dr Rocket. I have diabetes.

  • Biscoito18

Looks expensive! Really like the balloon one.

  • Posterity

Why do you only list the male actors as the new losers club? Beverly was part of the loser’s club and actually the one who comes up with the name in the first place.

    • Miguel Camacho

I keep thinking the same thing every time this site posts an article. If you read the book you know Beverly is integral to the plot and their ultimate survival.

  • Munchie

    so scary i farted

  • Creepshow

I will go see this. Honestly, I’ve never read the book, and I didn’t watch the mini-series when it was on TV. But I’m interested in the story now. So I’ll throw my dollars in the ring for a big screen adaptation, and see how I feel afterwards. *we’ll see*

  • TheTriggeredOne

I don’t know, I am hoping to be very wrong, but so far nothing about this looks even remotely scary or creepy to me.

    • macguffin54

I had the same thought–until the past few weeks. These pics, in particular, are very promising. I’m starting to have hope. Not sure why you’re not seeing it, though after so many rotten King adaptations, including the original IT, perhaps you are “once bitten, twice shy”.

  • Travis

If you zoom in on the picture with the claw, definitely werewolf claws. You can see hair and everything

    • macguffin54

I could be wrong but my first thought was that it was a claw, like the cover image of the original (I believe) hardcover where IT has a reptilian claw.

  • As meh as the TV-“It” was, it was so much scarier than everything I saw and heard from the new one.

    • Weresmurf

Which amounts to zero at this point…

  • Colby C.

Yeah, I caught the trailer that was breifly posted online and I’ve gotta say I wasn’t that impressed. Even some SyFy original movies looked more impressive.

    • Jordan J. Rivera

That was a fake trailer that you saw. There is one going around that has footage from the movies Clown and Stitches. There has been no offical trailer released for the new It movie.

    • jackstark211

You fool. That was not real.

  • Really reminds me of Stranger Things, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Bring IT on (*guffaw*)

  • Fester B. Gone

I have to hear the voice the voice is the clincher for me.

  • Carl Chrystan

Right, website, you’ve been bigging up this film for the past couple of months now with your teasing articles, making my mouth water. If I go and see this film in September and it’s total crap, I’m going to hold you personally responsible, and I’ll be coming for ya!!!!*

*(DISCLAIMER – Just to confirm the term “…coming for ya…” is meant as jovial banter and in no way reflects any desire to commit any criminal activity. This disclaimer is inserted due to the current state of the world, and the fact that everyone is just so f*****g sensitive these days!)

    • The Fucked Up

I’ll second that, and fuck that disclaimer. Learn to live in fear goddammit!

  • The Fucked Up

Is it just me or do these kids look like they can actually act? That would immediately make this film worth watching. The kids are the ones that really have to sell how fearsome Pennywise is, regardless of how he looks.

  • Jarmo Luukka

    One day longer trailer release

  • Henry T

IT will be good, especially when the movie u r remaking is great.
