Okay, this may be the easiest tutorial in the entire world. I’ve seen on many an occasion an attractive magazine holder that I wanted, but I’m not going to spend big bucks on a magazine holder . . . I’ve got lots of other things to spend money on (like polka dotted pj pants and sock monkeys). So when I was at IKEA recently and found a set of white magazine holders for $5, I knew that I had just struck gold – and I knew that I could decorate them with washi tape. Here’s how I did it.
Gather These Supplies
- Magazine file of any type (as long as the surface isn’t too slick) – I used these
- Washi tape
- Scissors
This is what the magazine holders look like in a package. They come nice and flat and you just fold them.
Assemble said magazine holders – maybe your pups are watching, too.
Okay – and this is really easy – you just tape from one side of the magazine holder, down across the bottom and up the other side. A couple of things I did was tear the edges of my tape and make the tapes different lengths to add interest. If you don’t like torn edges, you can always use scissors. That’s it! The washi tape stuck really well on my magazine holders.
This is how they look when all is said and done. The wash tape might not come up to the edges exactly, but who cares? You can always do some trimming if it doesn’t . . . or not. It’s up to you. Now I’m off to read an old issue of Domino.
