HISTORIC NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOODS AGAINST KANSAS CITY GO BONDS!!!

We'll have more on this in the next 48 hours but for now what we are hearing from community insiders and political watchers is important and needs to be put on blast . . .

NORTHEAST KANSAS CITY HAS BEEN ALMOST COMPLETELY OVERLOOKED IN THE KANSAS CITY G.O. BOND CAMPAIGN!!!

Stuffing everybody's mail box with junk mail doesn't count as attention.

Moreover, there's a debate about GO Bonds hurting the Museum in addition to the sentiment from locals that the GO bond effort has overlooked the needs of Northeast.

To be fair, there was a smallish community meeting back in February that seemed somewhat productive but most mailers and talking points DON'T MENTION MANY IMPROVEMENTS FOR THIS KANSAS CITY URBAN ENCLAVE despite some urgent needs that seem to fit the issues addressed by the $800-MILLION property tax increase over the next 40 years.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- An accidental shooting sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries on Sunday. Police said shortly before 11:30 a.m., an accidental shooting occurred in the parking lot of Cabela's in KCK. Police did not say exactly how that shooting happened, or precisely how he was injured, but said the man is expected to be okay.

Kansas Rage Against Gov. Brownback?!?!

The "progressive" pitch offers a bit of reporting on weekend Kansas politics and the push for healthcare via town hall. Take a look:

Saturday's Olathe town hall shows eagerness to override Brownback's Medicaid veto - just not among Olathe lawmakers

Depending on one's perspective, the timing of the annual town hall meeting of the Kansas Legislature's Olathe delegation Saturday couldn't have been better. Or worse. Legislators around the state are being bombarded with calls to override Gov. Sam Brownback's despicable veto of the Legislature's bill expanding Medicaid eligibility to an estimated 150,000 Kansans.

TKC SUNDAY QUESTION: IS KANSAS CITY PREPARED FOR A WHITE POLICE CHIEF?!?!

Tragically, political correctness already threatens to hijack the discussion of a critical decision for Kansas City — The selection of a new Police Chief.

To wit and because every other media outlet in town is afraid to mention it . . .

RACIAL IDENTITY POLITICS WILL INFLUENCE THE SELECTION OF THE NEW KCPD TOP COP MORE THAN ANY OTHER FACTOR!!!

How do we know this???

Because that's exactly the way it played out last time . . .

Kansas City outsiders and clueless suburbanites don't know this but retiring Chief Forté was actually the safer option among contenders for his job. People who really know Kansas City understand and lament that there's actually two KCPDs -- One Black and the other white -- Among a coalition of top brass among African-American high ranking police leaders, Commander Forté was actually the more amenable to influence from white political leaders and was considered the "safer" choice.

But during his tenure, the political landscape changed in Kansas City and throughout the nation.

Kansas City now lives in the shadow of the Ferguson, Missouri racial uprising riots which proved to be nothing less than the precursor for the absolute destruction of Missouri Democratic Party given the incompetent, middle-of-the-road fumbling of then Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.

Residents of the Show-Me State and the world witnessed a political establishment paralyzed with fear against social justice protest and unable to protect Quiktrip or Little Caesars from the vengeance of some social justice warriors and straight-up looters, arsonist and criminals. Just a quick reminder of the chaos that most people would like to forget . . . Fergson riots were so confusing and catastrophic that a coalition of Black men armed with guns rushed to the defense and protection of white community biz leaders given the call to destruction of some protesters shipped in from out of state.

Since 2015, deadly police shootings of young, African-American men have inspired a wave of protests just like Ferguson across the nation in Baltimore, New York, St. Paul, Minnesota and Baton Rouge, Louisiana . . .

Kansas City avoided these riots and mainstream media credits the work of Chief Forté in "building a bridge to Black residents" as the determining factor that saved KCMO from burning down.

Brief personal aside here given that TKC's Latino heritage is also fair game amid KC's continually growing ethic population. Forget about a Latino police chief . . . Vince Ortega has been passed over for nearly two decades and there just aren't many top ranking Latino KCPD denizens to compete for the job. Moreover, given the current immigration battle . . . Avoiding the topic altogether and letting the Feds do all the deporting is a tactic that most cities seem to be adopting.

But I digress . . .

Now . . . The change in leadership puts Kansas City at a crossroads . . .

The question that timid media and "progressive" denizens of the local discourse won't ask . . .

IS KANSAS CITY LOCKED INTO THE SELECTION OF AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN POLICE CHIEF OUT OF TACITLY RACIST FEAR OF RIOTING AND RACIAL POLITICS AMID INCREASING URBAN CORE CRIME???

This political consideration is ultimately unproductive given the increase in crime and homicide under the tenure of Police Chief Forté.

The very cruel and unfair reality is that the current divisive discourse focused mostly on unproductive racial divisions makes increased flash mob riots, shooting and robberies on the Plaza along with the horrific homicide rate in the urban core "okay" as long as progressive racial quotas are satisfied with an African-American police chief in charge. Put even more simply, Kansas City progressive won't stand for a white police chief arresting all the Black kids on the Plaza over the weekend but if an African-American leader is in control, that somehow makes it more acceptable . . . This worldview represents nothing less than the worst conception of "multiculturalism" that Kansas City has to offer which ultimately hasn't helped to solve so many ongoing problems.

Tragically, local media and leadership are too cowardly to address this crisis and directly confront the racial identity politics which influence the selection of a new Kansas City police chief.

Kansas City Mayor Sly James Encourages Local Democratic Party Progress

This partisan screed makes the case the Democratic Party efforts shouldn't ignore small local offices in their opposition to the new Prez . . . Important given that Northland GOP politicos have targeted KCMO council positions bolstered by the current Administration.

THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KANSAS CITY APRIL FOOL'S DAY CONCLUSION AND THE GO BOND VOTE!!!

First up . . .

And Now, A Message From Near The Office Of Kansas Governor Sam Brownback ...

Quick, heartfelt message from somewhere deep inside the Sunflower State regarding our upcoming KCMO election . . .

From: Somewhere Close To The Office of Governor Sam Brownback of Kansas

Subject: Kansas City, Missouri General Obligation Bonds

April 1,2017

Ciao!

Kansas City, Missouri has an important election on next Tuesday. Kansas is always grateful to Kansas City for building stadiums, arenas and entertainment districts so Kansas citizens do not have build and pay for these amenities.

I have learned much from the tax policies of the Kansas City Democratic Party leaders like the importance of sales taxes and placing the burden on working people. Kansas City Democratic Party leaders have always pioneered tax policy with the earnings tax -- A flat tax only on wages on working people.

In this upcoming April 4th election, the Kansas City Democratic Party brain trust once again demonstrates outstanding leadership on a proposed 40 year property tax increase placing most of the burden on single family homes and small business. It is important that companies like Cerner, Freightquote, Burns & McDonnell, J.E. Dunn, H&R Block, Cordish and the Kansas City Star are not burdened with this expense because they employee thousands of hardworking Kansans.

Previously the CEO of Burns & McDonnell gave a donation of over $2 million to the University Of Kansas that most likely wouldn't have been possible without the generous subsidies KCMO has bestowed upon this engineering giant.

Kansas wants to urge the voters of Kansas City, Missouri to vote YES on the GO Bonds questions 1-2-3 keep the momentum for Kansas going.

Arrivederci!

Remember . . .

Mayor Sly promised to vote for a minimum wage increase during his campaign for Mayor and when there was very little likelihood that the measure would survive Missouri courts or the Legislature.

Everyone was surprised that the so-called "Fight for $15" withstood a challenge in the Missouri Supreme Court.

Locally, there was a scaled down minimum wage increase that garnered the support of "fair wage" advocates and the Mayor jumped through a litany of rhetorical hoops in an attempt to justify his NO VOTE.

Moreover, in this upcoming election . . . Mayor Sly has voiced his opposition against Question 4 despite an endorsement of every African-American council member.

Like it or not, a coalition of clergy and political groups have expressed their support for this proposal and it's the only thing of interest on the ballot for a great many inner-city denizens.

Here's the reality . . .

Kansas City fair wage fighters are in constant contact and also comprise the ranks of Question 5 weed supporters and Question 4 inner-city development proponents . . . Mayor Sly's record of betrayal on the recent minimum wage increase that's near & dear to the hearts of many urban core denizens has, in fact, become a talking point against GO BOND Questions 1, 2 & 3.

And so . . . The reality is that, if a survey of inner-city political, church and community groups is any indication, GO BONDS don't seem to have much support amid the urban core or the East Side (and definitely not the Northland) despite so many optimistic polls. Tragically, this fact of life is almost completely related Mayor Sly's inability to connect with anybody but lawyers, consultants and middle-class white ladies during the course of his tenure.
