Daniel Sprong ties franchise record for playoff goals
Charlottetown, Islanders

Daniel Sprong scored in last night’s 4-1 Charlottetown Islanders win at the Eastlink Centre.

It was the Islanders first goal of game one of the second round of the QMJHL playoffs against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Sprong’s goal tied the hockey game. It also tied a franchise record.

Cory Urquhart held the record for most playoff goals in franchise history with 18. Sprong has now tied that record.

Urquhart was a member of the Montreal and P.E.I. Rocket between 2001 and 2004. His 18 playoff goals came in 24 playoff games in the Rocket organization.

Sprong has played in 31 games with the Islanders.

He has a total of 40 points in those 31 games. Urquhart had 33 points in 24 playoff games.

This will be the final major franchise playoff record Sprong could take over. He recently passed Urquhart for most points, and Bradley Kennedy for most assists.

Sprong is second in all-time franchise points.
