East Indian Marathi is a dialect of Marathi, according to leading historians, it is very similar to Dynaneshwari. There is no know script, some debated ly say that it used to be Morbi.
Currently, the East Indian Marathi is the fastest dwindling language in the metropolis of Bombay. Though it is the mother tongue of the East Indian, it is only spoken in few villages. With the ever changing surroundings of the cosmopolitian lifestyles in Bombay, most East Indians are speaking English, some tragically do not have the least knowledge of East Indian Marathi.
It has to be noted that even within the East Indian Marathi, there are (minor) dialects, that is to say a person speaking East Indian Marathi in Bandra may pronounce some words differently to those in Versova or those in Vasai . . . etc.
