Alt TV's gay Sparkle on Sunday ended its year with a Christmas party episode last night – and an assurance from the host that the show will be back in late January.

The live, hour-long weekly chat show has been running on Sky channel Alt TV – which also streams live on the internet via its website – for 18 months now, and host Steven Oates says he plans to keep it going after the summer holiday break.

"Enjoy your Christmas and summer holiday, and we'll see you next year for more Sparkles on Sunday," Oates signed off his show last night.

The Christmas episode featured some of Oates' favourite regular guests, including drag divas Buckwheat, Tess Tickle and Fonda Boys, takataapui singer Mika, gay commentator Dennis Petrone, Matt Akersten from GayNZ.com, and Paul and Alan from Urge bar.

Alt TV will continue transmitting over the holidays with a summer line-up. More details are on the channel's website, linked below.
