Jeannette was born as daughter of the painter and engraver Daniel Nikolaus Chodowiecki in 1761. She grew up in Berlin became known as painter, pastellist, genre painter, etcher. She married 1784 the french-reformed preacher and Consistorialrath Jaques Papin with whom she lived from ca. 1793 in Potsdam. Her sisters Susanne Chodowiecka (1763-1819) and Henriette Chodowiecka (1770-1880), her daughter Marianne Chodowiecka Papin (married Gretschel) (1794-1870) and her son Heinrich Papin (1786 -1839) were always known artist.
