The Amber-Pocasset Panthers are heading to the state tournament. Amber-Pocasset won all three of their games, defeating Sterling once and Fletcher twice to advance. The Panthers opened regional play against Sterling and did not need seven innings to defeat the Tigers. In a run-rule victory, the Panthers defeated Sterling 15-4.

Sterling did actually hold a lead in the game. They got on the board in the top of the first inning. They scored their first run on an RBI groundout by Maverick Bay. However, from the second inning on, it was all Amber-Pocasset.

The Panthers took control of the game with six runs in the bottom half of the second inning. Five players had RBIs in the frame. All six runs in the inning came with two outs.

Stanton James got the Panthers on the board with an RBI double, one of two RBI doubles in the frame. The other came from Cody Williams, who helped his cause on the mound. Cache Anglin, Cody Bartlett and Jordan Torres contributed RBI singles. Nathan Ratcliff scored from third on a pitch that reached the backstop.

The Tigers did get two runs back in the top of the third. The first of those runs came off a solo home run to left field by David Derrico.

However, Amber-Pocasset continued to add runs in the third. Anglin hit a ball that managed to find the ground, scoring a run. Williams earned a walk to score a run, and Travis Clift plated a run to give the Panthers a 9-3 advantage.

The Panthers finished their scoring with six more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sterling scored one in the top of the fifth, but it was not enough to extend the game.

With Amber-Pocasset's next win, they would move to within one win of the state tournament. The ninth-ranked Panthers took on eighth-ranked Fletcher, who opened regional play with a win over Hinton. Amber-Pocasset took that game by the score of 11-1.

After beating Hinton, Fletcher needed to beat the Panthers twice, which did not occur. The Panthers moved on with a 9-4 victory over the Wildcats.
