Scott Loach bid an emotional farewell to Notts County after he confirmed he would be leaving Meadow Lane.

The goalkeeper will not be offered a new contract with the Magpies as the club began its negotiations with the players whose deals are due to expire.

Loach spent the latter part of the season on loan at York City in the National League, with the Minstermen suffering relegation on the final day of the season.

But the former Watford goalkeeper won acclaim for some of his performances and he is not expected to be short of offers with a number of League Two clubs interested in signing him.

Loach said he was looking forward to a new challenge as he wished the club well.

"I have loved every minute of my time at the club and it's been a pleasure to play for them," said the former Watford stopper, who made 23 appearances at Meadow Lane.

"The fans have been different class with me and I wish the gaffer and the lads all the best for next season.

"Given the way they ended the season, I expect them to really kick on. It's a great club.

"But it's going to be a new challenge for me somewhere else. I am 28 and I do need to be playing."
