Here’s a clip from last night’s Late Night, where Seth Meyers takes “A Closer Look” at Donald Trump’s recent threats against former FBI Director James Comey as well as yesterday’s breaking news that he revealed highly classified information to the Russians last week. “Trump is worse than Nixon — he’s shameless Nixon. Nixon famously said ‘I am not a crook’ — Trump is basically saying ‘I am a crook, and there’s nothing you can do about it. In fact, after dinner tonight, I’m having three scoops of ice cream,'” Meyers says before pointing out the fact that no Republicans are speaking up against anything questionable or downright incompetent that Trump does. “Our democracy only works if both parties choose to exercise the checks on presidential power that our constitution prescribes. Republicans can’t just abdicate their responsibility. So hands up: Who thinks it’s time for Republicans to stand up?”
