Duolingo is headed to East Liberty.

The language education company has outgrown its Shadyside offices and confirmed it is moving into a new space at 5900 Penn Ave. in East Liberty. The 15,000-square-foot space will provide more room for Duolingo's growing staff: the company expects to grow from 60 to 100 employees in 2016. The Pittsburgh Business Times reported on the possibility back in November.

“We’re proud to be a Pittsburgh-based company and to stick to our roots despite having been advised by leaders in the space to move elsewhere. We’re really excited to become a part of the Easy Liberty community soon,” Duolingo CEO and Co-founder Luis von Ahn said in a statement.

The new space will encourage collaboration and what the company calls "work-play balance." Employees will have access to a four-room quiet zone and games and activities, and the space will be outfitted with a full-service kitchen and a chef who will cater meals for the staff.

The company plans to move to its new offices in April.

Duolingo has more than 120 million users worldwide and is one of the most downloaded education apps. The company began in von Ahn's research lab at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science.
