Nightclubs

Iceland is famous for its vibrant nightlife, and Reykjavík is one of Europe’s hottest destinations for going out. During the weekend, you can spend the whole night downtown going from one bar to another. Nightlife begins late in Reykjavík, with things generally getting warmed up at midnight, so don’t expect to see many people downtown before 23:00. Bear in mind that this only applies to the weekend.

Partly because of the price of drinks, Icelanders often begin the evening meeting at someone’s house for a private party before heading downtown.

Larger nightclubs with live music may charge an entrance fee, but most bars and smaller clubs are free, although sometimes you may have to queue.
