XM-5

Launched in October 2010, XM-5 is a high-power, Digital Audio Radio Service (DARS) satellite that serves as an in-orbit spare in the SiriusXM Radio satellite radio fleet, ensuring that SirusXM subscribers across North America receive continued high-quality, digital music, entertainment, and data services. XM-5 has an on-orbit design life of 15 years and carries a state-of-the-art payload featuring two large, unfurlable mesh antennas. Its end-of-life power capability of more than 18 kilowatts makes it one of the world's most powerful communications satellites.
