Unaccompanied minors

When your child is flying alone, we’ll be there every step of the way to make sure their journey is an adventure

We make sure your unaccompanied minor has a memorable experience throughout their trip - from helping at check in to transferring between flights or meeting their guardians at their final destination.

Our Unaccompanied Minors service is for:

  • children aged between five and 15 who are flying alone
  • children under eight years old travelling in a different cabin class to their parents or guardian
  • children over eight years old travelling in a different cabin class to their parent or guardian when they have a child under eight with them

Help through the airport

A specialist member of our team will meet your child at the dedicated check in desk and be with them all the way through the airport until we hand your child to our crew on board.

Priority boarding

Families and unaccompanied minors always board the plane first. That gives them more time to get settled, and our cabin crew can help them to stow their hand luggage and make them comfortable.


Dedicated lounges for unaccompanied children

When you drop your young solo adventurer off at Dubai International airport, you can take them straight to the Unaccompanied Minors Lounge near the check-in area. Our staff will check them in there, and then escort them to one of our dedicated departure lounges for children flying alone.

Our Unaccompanied Minors Lounges have comfortable seating, games and entertainment screens as well as snacks and drinks to keep your little one occupied. There are children’s bathrooms in the lounges too.

If your child has some time before a connecting flight, they’ll be taken to one of the Unaccompanied Minors Lounges while they wait, before being handed over to our cabin crew. And if they’re with us during a meal time, one of our team will escort them to eat and then back to the lounge again.


On board care

We’re on hand to make sure your young flyer’s trip is as enjoyable as possible. When you book, let us know what kind of meal your child prefers and whether they’d like to sit by the window or the aisle. If it’s their birthday you can pre-order a cake and the crew will prepare on board so we can celebrate together. We also have a Polaroid camera so your young flyer can take home memories of their trip.

Support when they land

When your child arrives, a member of our specialist team will be there to greet them at the aircraft door. We’ll help your child through the airport before taking them to their parent or guardian.


What is the fare for an unaccompanied minor?

You can use our Unaccompanied Minor service when you pay for an adult fare for your child. Otherwise children under 12 will not be able to fly alone.

If you’re travelling in a different cabin class to your child, for the comfort of other passengers we ask that visits between classes are kept to a minimum.

How to book your child’s solo flight

When you book a fare for a child under 12, unless there is proof that an adult is travelling with them, you will need to arrange our Unaccompanied Minors service.
