Theo Walcott

Arsenal’s longest-serving player featured regularly last season, making 42 appearances for the first team to take his overall total to just under 350 in total.

Able to play anywhere across the front, Theo started 2015/16 in the centre-forward position, linking well with Mesut Ozil and Alexis. He played a key role in convincing victories away to eventual champions Leicester City and at home to Manchester United, where he provided two assists.

Theo Walcott Profile

Born March 16, 1989
Middlesex, England
Position: Striker
Squad Number: 14
Previous Club(s) Southampton
Arsenal Debut August 19, 2006

Perhaps Theo’s standout moment of the season came in a home game against Manchester City just before Christmas, his precise 20-yard shot helping to secure a 2-1 victory. The goal was voted Arsenal’s best in December.

He was used primarily on the right flank during the second half of the campaign, and scored a crucial equaliser in a dramatic 2-1 win at home to Leicester. The England international, who celebrated 10 years at the club in January 2016, ended the campaign with nine goals and six assists.

He has scored 85 times for Arsenal since joining from Southampton - the highest total of any current first-team player - and broke the deadlock in the 2015 FA Cup final.

Theo was just 16 when he signed for the club. He became his country’s youngest-ever full international when he debuted against Hungary aged 17 years and 75 days and was named in Sven Goran-Eriksson’s World Cup squad soon after.

He has featured regularly for England since and scored in a 3-2 victory over Sweden at Euro 2012.

August

Theo played three times in August, and scored Arsenal’s first goal of the 2016/17 campaign against Liverpool, while also claiming an assist in the 3-1 win at Watford. The forward’s impressive performances soon earned himself a recall to the England squad. Speaking about the forward’s display at Vicarage Road, Arsene Wenger said: “I said before the season started that we will get a different Theo Walcott this year. If he can maintain that focus, that desire and that fighting attitude then he will have a great season. I hope he has no setback because he is an intelligent player, he is focused and has a great desire to prove his critics wrong and he’s on a good way.”

September

Theo scored four times in September, marking his 350th appearance for us with a goal against Chelsea. He also scored both goals against FC Basel in our 2-0 win in the Champions League, as well as getting on the scoresheet in our 4-1 victory against Hull City. Speaking after his goal against Chelsea, Theo said: “It was a great move and I’d like to get 10 more of those a season. They’re nice, but I was in the right place at the right time and I was pleased with that.”

December

Theo started four of our Premier League games in December, scoring twice. The England international was on target against Manchester City and Stoke City and also featured in the games against West Ham United and Everton.

March

Theo started in three of our matches in March, but came on as a 74th minute substitute in the 3-1 loss to Liverpool. Theo scored the opening goal of the game against both Bayern Munich and Lincoln City.

July

Theo started July with Arsenal’s opening goal in the Barclays Asia Trophy final against Everton, and ended his month by scoring the winner against Wolfsburg. The England forward also played the final 18 minutes of the Emirates Cup win against Lyon. Speaking after the Everton game, Theo said: “I’ll be judged on goals - that’s what strikers want to do, to score goals. I haven’t set a target as yet but when you’re a striker you need to be aiming for 15 or in the 20s. That’s a good start.”

August

Walcott made four appearances for Arsenal during August and started the 1-0 Community Shield victory against Chelsea after signing a contract extension with the club. Speaking ahead of the Liverpool game, Arsene Wenger said: “Theo is a man today, when he arrived here he was a boy, a little boy who discovered a world where he did not know anything about it. Of course he had to go through bad injuries and disappointments and I believe he is a man today, a man who knows what he wants and has been faithful to our club. It was a great signing.”

September

Theo played six times in September. The forward registered four goals and an assist and was voted Vitality Player of the Month for his performances. Speaking after the win at Leicester City, Arsene Wenger said: “Walcott is improving game after game, he holds the ball better up front, his movement is great and he scored which is what you want.”

October

Theo played four times during October. The striker claimed an assist against Manchester United but picked up an injury at Sheffield Wednesday.

November

January

Theo featured six times during January and claimed an assist for Joel Campbell’s goal against Sunderland in the FA Cup. The England international also marked his 10th anniversary since signing for the club. Per Mertesacker assessed the forward's achievement and said, “I think what kept him here was the spirit of the group and his love for the club, and that is something I look up to. He is a role model to a lot of young people, and he plays a major role now and that’s what he likes to play for us, being much more experienced than when he came.”

February

Theo featured six times during February and scored the opening goal to kickstart the 2-1 comeback win against Leicester City.

March

Theo played four times in March and scored a brace against Hull City in the FA Cup. The forward also claimed an assist in the visit to the KC Stadium.

April

Theo featured five times in April and scored in the 4-0 win against Watford. Speaking about the England international, Arsene Wenger said: “He works very hard. I must say he puts the effort in in training. He had good periods in the season. After I think, recently, he has gone through a much more difficult period. But he will come back.”

May

Theo played once in May, helping the Gunners to a 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

August

Theo stepped up his rehabilitation programme in August but remained out of action for the whole of the month.

September

Theo was injured throughout September but Arsene Wenger confirmed he would rejoin full training at the end of the month. Theo said: “Rehab has given me the opportunity to work on my legs and build up the muscle strength. If anything, I hope to come back stronger and quicker."

October

Theo made his eagerly-awaited return from injury when he played 45 minutes of the under-21s’ goalless draw against Blackburn Rovers. The forward was also an unused substitute in the first-team squad that beat Sunderland 2-0 as he continued his journey to full fitness. "For what he has gone through in the last nine months, you gain even more respect for him, because he had some difficult times and always responded very positively,” Arsene Wenger said before the Sunderland game. “He's a very polite and social guy, but behind that, he's mentally strong as well.”

November

Theo returned from injury against Burnley at the start of the month before featuring on the bench against Anderlecht and playing the final 10 minutes at Swansea. The forward then went on international duty with England but did not play and was ruled out for the remainder of the month with a groin injury. “I feel very quick, very strong and very powerful,” Theo told Arsenal Player after making his comeback against Burnley. “All those rumours of Hector [Bellerin] being slightly quicker than me are not true at all!”

December

Theo did not play any games in December but was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s last three matches of the month as he continued his return from injury.

January

Theo made his first start in a year when he played 76 minutes of Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Hull City. The England forward also made substitute appearances against Southampton and Stoke City as he continued his rehabilitation from injury, before scoring his first goal since January 2014, against Brighton & Hove Albion. “We are definitely one of the best teams in the Premier League,” Theo said after the Stoke City win. “With the squad we have and when everyone is fit and consistent, I don’t think many teams can cope with the pace we have and the new signings like Alexis, and getting people like Mesut back as well.

February

Theo featured five times in February, scoring against Aston Villa and Leicester City. Speaking ahead of the Tottenham game, Arsene Wenger said: “Theo's first [attribute] is the quality of his reception. It is absolutely exceptional, one of the best in the world, with the timing of his movement and where he goes. When I say quality of receptions, it's the area where he will get the ball. In that, he is certainly top, top, top because he has the pace behind it as well.”

March

Theo Walcott played twice in March, starting the game against West Ham United before coming on as a 72nd-minute substitute in Monaco.

April

Theo played twice in April, coming on as a late substitute in Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final win against Reading and draw against Chelsea. Speaking ahead of the Reading game, Arsene Wenger said: “I believe Theo will have a great goalscoring record in the future because of the quality and intelligence of his game, and therefore I would like him to stay with our club.”

May

Theo played all six games in May, starting twice and scoring a hat-trick in Arsenal’s final Premier League game of the season against West Bromwich Albion. The England forward also started the FA Cup final against Aston Villa and scored the opening goal as the Gunners won the competition for a record 12th time. Speaking afterwards, Theo said: “This has got to be a stepping stone now even more to challenge for the title. That’s the ultimate goal, what everyone and all the kids dream of. We need to do it for the fans because they’ve been waiting for a long time. They enjoy these moments like every player does.”

August

Theo started all four of the team's games in August. His best performance came in the first leg of the Champions League qualifier away to Fenerbache where his pace provided a constant threat. The England winger crossed for Kieran Gibbs to score against the Turkish side and he won the penalty which Olivier Giroud converted in the same game.

September

Theo played in the first three games of September and scored the opener against Marseille with a sublime volley. The winger also provided the assist for Olivier Giroud's winner against Spurs, but surgery on an abdominal injury forced the England man to sit out the rest of the month. "It meant a lot to get off the mark," said Theo after the Marseille game. "Hopefully there are going to be more to come now. I started pretty late last year and I finished as top scorer so it's a good sign, I'm pretty sure of that."

October

Theo was kept out of action for the whole of October as he continued his recovery from minor abdominal surgery.

November

Theo made his return from an abdominal injury when he came on as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Southampton. The England international made further cameo appearances against Marseille and Cardiff City, where he provided the pass for Aaron Ramsey's second goal. Before Theo's return against Southampton, Arsene Wenger said: "He is one of the players who goes behind [the defence] without the bal. Strikers who get behind the defenders is a very important quality and Theo [Walcott] has that quality."

December

After making his return from injury at the end of November, Theo kickstarted his season with four goals and a couple of assists in December. The England international set up Mesut Ozil's goal against Everton before scoring a brace in the 6-3 defeat to Man City. But Theo's stand-out display probably came in the 3-1 win over West Ham where he scored twice to help Arsenal come back from a goal down. The 24-year-old also supplied the free kick for Olivier Giroud to nod home the Gunners' winner against Newcastle. "Every game that goes by that we win is more belief that we're going to win the league," Theo said after the Newcastle game. "But we won't get ahead our ourselves, we know how crucial every game is. We've got to make sure we look after ourselves and hopefully teams will start to slip up. Just as long as we keep on believing, which everyone is and we've been doing from the start of the season."

January

After scoring Arsenal's second goal in the New Year's Day win over Cardiff, Theo suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury against Tottenham that required surgery, meaning he would miss the rest of the season. "Theo is handling it as well as you can when you have had such a shock because he's mentally strong, he's very balanced as a person and he can put it into perspective," the boss told Arsenal Player. "We know that he will have the dedication and the serious attitude to come back as strong as ever."

February

A cruciate ligament injury kept Theo out of action for the duration of February.

March

A long-term knee injury kept Theo out of action for the whole of March.

April

A long-term knee injury kept Theo out of action for the duration of April.

May

A long-term knee ligament injury kept Theo out of action for the whole of May. However, the forward joined the team on their open-top bus parade after winning the the FA Cup. "[The fans] have waited so long and since I've been here, this team has been the best I've worked with," he told Arsenal Player. "It's a fantastic response [from the fans] and we want more from these guys. "We've got a platform. We know what we want to achieve now. We want to push on from this. This is such a massive club. We realise that… this is definitely that stepping stone that is going to build up to a dominant Arsenal team, I'm pretty sure of it."

August

Theo played in Arsenal's first two matches of the season, starting against Sunderland on the opening day before coming off the bench in the goalless draw against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

September

Theo was largely used as a substitute in September, coming off the bench on four occasions. He started against Coventry in the Capital One Cup and scored twice. That brace added to his goal against Southampton earlier in the month.

October

Theo enjoyed a successful October, scoring four times in total - including a hat-trick against Reading in the Capital One Cup that saw him named Man of the Match. His performance at the Madejski drew praise from Arsene Wenger, who said: “First of all he is a good finisher now - the way he scored the first goal. Secondly, I believe he knows where to be in the box on the rebounds. I like that - that’s a quality of a striker that you cannot give to anybody. You feel it or you don’t. He has the qualities to play there and he was superb.”

November

Arsenal’s top scorer added another three goals to his tally during November. The England international scored at the Veltins-Arena, where he was named man of the match, and also found the net against Tottenham and Everton, where he broke the deadlock just 52 seconds in. “I think I scored 11 last season and 13 the year before,” he said. “Not just that, but my general play [is getting better] as well. The assists are coming now, which is fantastic, and I am enjoying my football.”

December

Theo was Arsenal’s top scorer in December, netting four times in four appearances. After finding the net against Reading, the 23-year-old ended 2012 with a hat-trick and man of the match performance against Newcastle United. “It was amazing,” team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain said after the game. “You could see after his first goal, he had a spring in his step. He was sharp and he was good going forward. He’s been like that all season. He’s been brilliant for us and he’s stuck to his work really well with all the speculation going on. He’s a great professional, he’s a good mate and he’s a good lad around the dressing room. It’s hard for anyone to defend against someone with his pace. When he gets the service, he can always punish teams. In training he’s no different. He’s doing really well.”

January

After signing a new contract at the Club, Theo continued his good form throughout January. The 23-year-old scored in four successive games at the end of the month, and was named man of the match against Chelsea. Theo featured in all of Arsenal’s eight January fixtures. “I always wanted to stay and I am happy that myself and the Club have come to an agreement,” he said after penning his new deal. “There has been so much speculation for so long, and I am very pleased my future is sorted. But it is all about the present now.”

February

Theo made five appearances in February. His most significant contribution over the month was setting up Santi Cazorla’s winner away at Sunderland. “We’re very confident [of finishing in the top four],” he said. ”We can battle through any sort of situation. The teams around us are winning as well, but we’ve just got to make sure we look after ourselves and try to win as often as we can."

March

Theo made three appearances in March and set up Per Mertesacker’s header at Tottenham Hotspur as well as Olivier Giroud’s strike at Bayern Munich. The forward was injured while on international duty and subsequently missed the Reading game.

April

Theo’s key contribution in April came in the month’s final game. With less than two minutes on the clock in the game against Manchester United, the forward latched on to Tomas Rosicky’s pass before finishing clinically past David De Gea. The England international’s display against the newly-crowned champions saw him named man of the match. "Getting injured on the international break was frustrating, and the one thing I’ve been a bit disappointed with since then is the goals element - I haven’t scored for a while now," he told the official matchday programme before the Man United game. "But there are only four games left now and it’s not the time to think about myself. I set a 20-goal target for the season and only need two more to reach it, but the biggest goal for me is to help Arsenal finish third or fourth.”

May

Theo netted the fastest goal of the Premier League season in Arsenal's 1-0 win at Queens Park Rangers, firing Arsene Wenger's team in front after just 20 seconds. His performance at Loftus Road earned him the man-of-the-match award. The England international was also on target in the Gunners' next game, at home to Wigan Athletic. His goal at Emirates Stadium took his tally for the 2012/13 campaign to an impressive 21. “I am proud of everyone in the dressing room," he told Arsenal.com after the win at Newcastle United secured a top-four finish. "We have had some ups and downs but showed belief in one another and that is what we are made of at Arsenal. But we don’t want celebrations for the Champions League [qualification], we want to be challenging for the title. That is our next goal.”

August

Theo scored his first goal of the season against Udinese in the Champions League and netted his second of the new campaign at Old Trafford when he fired through the legs of David De Gea. The England forward was a substitute at Newcastle on the opening day of the season but started the following four games.

September

Theo was a vital part of Arsene Wenger's first team during the month, impressing in the 3-0 victory over Bolton with an eye-catching performance on the right flank. There was also a Champions League start for Theo in the draw against Borussia Dortmund.

October

Theo was a regular for Arsenal during the month, starting in every available Premier League and Champions League fixture. His finest performance came in the victory at Stamford Bridge, where his superb solo effort sent Arsene Wenger's side on their way to victory. “He is more a complete player today,” said Wenger. “Now he wins the ball defensively and he is dangerous going forward. He works so hard.”

November

Theo was the main provider for Robin van Persie's prolific month, laying on two goals for the Dutchman. The winger also set up Thomas Vermaelen's headed goal against Fulham in a productive month on the flank. "Hopefully I can give him some proper assists as well, because as a striker I believe assists are just as important as the goals you score," said Van Persie. “Theo’s assists aren’t lucky - they’re proper assists, down to good movements, good actions, good final balls. For me that’s perhaps even more important than a goal."

December

Theo was a mainstay on the right wing, missing only the Wolves game through illness. He featured in the team's remaining four Premier League victories of the month.

January

Theo played five times in January and scored twice, against Swansea and Aston Villa. “I think he is coming back [to form] now,” Arsene Wenger. “He had a dip over Christmas. I found people were a bit harsh on him at Swansea because in the first half he looked dangerous to me. In the second half he scored the goal and having seen the game again he created some dangerous situations. The expectation level in England is very high for him because he started at the age of 16. But I still feel he has improved a lot this season.”

February

Theo played six times for the Club over the course of the month, and scored twice in the 5-2 defeat of Tottenham. "He works very hard every day, scores a lot of goals in training and just needs to get the goals in games. But we are very pleased for him," Wojciech Szczesny said about the forward after his derby brace.

March

Theo enjoyed one of his most productive months of the season so far. He notched goals against QPR and Aston Villa and picked up a deserved Man of the Match award in the 2-1 win over Newcastle at Emirates Stadium. Theo also celebrated his 23rd birthday. "I'm enjoying playing football at the moment, I'm still only 23 so there is still a lot to come from me I'm sure.," said the winger. "But I feel great, I've never played so much in my life on a consistent level for 90 minutes. It obviously helps when the team is winning as well, that is important. The confidence just flows through the whole team."

April

Theo's season was cut short in the goalless draw against Chelsea after the forward picked up a hamstring injury. The 23-year-old had been an ever-present up to that point and played a significant role in the 3-0 victory over Wolves, winning an early penalty before slotting home his 11th goal of the season shortly afterwards. “He has had his best season yet,” said Arsene Wenger. “He gets criticism because he raises the level of expectation so much that when he has a disappointing game or doesn’t make the difference, people straight away go at him because they expect something special."

May

Theo returned from injury as a half-time substitute in the 3-2 win at West Brom. "It is a fantastic feeling [to finish third] - we have been hot and cold all season and it doesn't matter how you play, as long as you get the result here," said the England winger.

August

Theo started the new campaign as if he really meant business, taking no time at all to notch up goals, assists and Man of the Match performances aplenty. The forward didn’t start the opening Premier League game against Liverpool, coming on as a 59th-minute substitute. The first home game of the season against Blackpool is when Theo really got started. He put in a Man of the Match performance as he scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 demolition of the newly-promoted side. He followed that up with another outstanding performance away at Blackburn, scoring the opening goal and setting up Andrey Arshavin to score the winner. Arsene Wenger said he believes the 21-year-old is ahead of the learning curve for a footballer of his age.

September

Theo injured his ankle while away on international duty for England in a Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland on September 7. Speaking two days later Arsene Wenger said the forward is likely to be out for “four to six weeks”. The manager went on to say: “We had some good news about the scan because at some stage we were scared it could be worse. But overall it is a question of patience and rehabilitation.”

October

Theo returned from his ankle injury during October and showed the Arsenal fans just what they had been missing. He was eased back into action with substitute appearances against both Shakhtar and Manchester City before announcing his return with a Man of the Match performance against Newcastle in the Carling Cup. He showed a lethal touch in front of goal with two clinical finishes as he helped book Arsenal’s place in the next round. The winger was used as a substitute in the 1-0 win over West Ham at the end of the month as he neared full fitness.

November

Theo started the month in spectacular fashion when he opened the scoring against Shakhtar Donetsk after just nine minutes. He played in the 1-0 defeat against Newcastle and came off the bench as Arsenal searched for the winner in the North London derby. He finished the month by starting against Braga and Wigan.

December

Theo played a key role in December, with his Man of the Match performance against Chelsea the best example of his growing importance. He set up Cesc Fabregas and scored himself in one of his finest displays of the season. Five minutes into the second half Theo raced clear, drew Petr Cech and tapped a square pass for Fabregas to slot home. Three minutes later, Theo fired home to send Emirates Stadium wild. He scored a vital goal against Partizan that ensured Arsenal’s passage to the knockout stages of the Champions League when he put his side 2-1 up.

January

Theo scored his tenth goal of the season at West Ham and set up two for Robin van Persie in the same game. He set up the Dutchman’s opener, scored himself and then won a penalty for the third as Arsenal secured an emphatic 3-0 win. What's more, it was his impact that helped peg back Leeds United to earn an FA Cup replay against the Yorkshire club. Theo made six starts and two substitute appearances during January.

February

Theo’s month ended in heartbreak when he was ruled out of the Carling Cup Final with injury. The England midfielder was stretchered off during the second half of the 1-0 win over Stoke City after spraining his ankle and subsequently missed the Wembley showpiece. It was a bitter pill to swallow considering his fine form. Just 43 seconds into the away trip at Newcastle he raced clear to put Arsenal ahead and also set up Robin van Persie to sweep home a second against Wolves.

March

Theo missed the whole of March with the ankle injury he picked up against Stoke.

April

Theo scored his 12th goal of the season in the North London derby when he calmly sidefooted home after being released by Cesc Fabregas. The 21-year-old made four starts in April on Arsenal’s right side and also laid on a goal for Robin van Persie in the win at Blackpool.

May

Theo scored his 13th goal of the campaign on the final day of the season at Fulham, netting a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw.

August

Theo missed the start of the season after sustaining a back strain in a pre-season match against Valencia.

September

Theo sat out all of Arsenal's games in September with a back injury he picked up in pre-season. He made his return in a Reserve-team friendly against Olympiacos, playing 60 minutes and creating the opening goal of a 3-1 Gunners win.

October

Theo marked his return from injury with a goal in Arsenal's 6-2 win over Blackburn at the start of the month but then had to come off 33 minutes into the win over Birmingham with a medial knee ligament injury. Arsène Wenger said that Walcott could be out for "three to four weeks".

December

Theo made four starts and one substitute appearance for Arsenal in December but missed the Portsmouth game at the end of the month through injury. "He has a rib injury," said Arsène Wenger. "Last time he had it on the right and this time it is on the left. Last time he was out for nearly a month. We hope that this time it will be much shorter."

January

Theo missed Arsenal's first three games in January due to a rib injury but returned as a substitute in the 4-2 home win over Bolton. He also featured against Stoke and Aston Villa. Theo came in for criticism after the FA Cup trip to Stoke but Arsène Wenger launched a staunch defence of his player and insisted that Walcott must be given time to find his rhythm. “There is no player in the world who can be out for two months, come back and be outstanding,” he said. “He doesn't exist, unfortunately. It’s not like you switch an engine on and off in the car. It demands competition and the most important thing for Theo now is not to be injured for five or six weeks. Then you will see a different Walcott.”

February

Theo featured in all five of Arsenal's February fixtures and received a call up to the England squad to face Egypt in March. After an injury-ravaged season Walcott said that he feels as though his fitness problems are behind him. "I feel fit as anything I've felt," he said. "I feel really good now so hopefully I can stay fit and look after myself. I've had such a stop-start season, I've lost so many games I've lost count."

March

Theo scored twice as he made five appearances for Arsenal in March. Speaking after scoring against Burnley, the striker explained why critics don’t bother him. I don’t listen to people on the outside of football," he said. "I listen to people around me: the boss [Arsène Wenger], Mr [Fabio] Capello, my family and the people around me. I’ve got fantastic people who look after me. I am very level-headed and keep my feet on the ground."

April

Theo featured in all five of the Gunners' fixtures in April, starting against Wolves, Barcelona, Wigan and Manchester City as well as coming off the bench against Tottenham. He scored Arsenal's second goal in the 3-2 defeat at Wigan.

May

Theo started both of Arsenal's May fixtures.

August

August saw Theo continue his transformation from hot prospect to first-team regular. He appeared in all five of Arsenal’s fixtures, the highlight coming in the home tie against FC Twente. After receiving the ball from Nicklas Bendtner, Walcott surged through the Twente backline, nonchalantly stroking the ball past the goalkeeper. It was a finish of the highest quality that again drew comparisons with Thierry Henry.

September

Theo’s career shifted up a gear in September as he became England’s youngest ever hat-trick scorer when he struck three in the 4-1 victory in Croatia. The feat made the 19-year-old only the third Arsenal striker to hit a treble for England and he transferred his form for country, to club. Theo appeared in five of Arsenal’s six games, registering four assists. His form singled him out for some rough treatment from opposing defenders but the winger discussed how he takes it all in his stride. “It is a nice feeling when a defender is scared of you,” he said on Friday 19th. “It means you will hopefully win the battle with him. I got kicked a few times but you just have to win the battle with them. You just have to suck it up and get back at them.”

October

Theo continued his superb start to the season with a string of outstanding displays down the right-hand side of midfield. The teenager marked his first appearance of the month with an injury time goal against Everton on the 14th and the he followed it up with a lovely finish against Fenerbahce three days later.

November

November was a not a month to remember for Theo as he dislocated his shoulder while away on international duty. Wenger said: "[Theo] dislocated his shoulder during training, he will be out for at least three months. It can take time to use his shoulder again and every little protection of the ball, you need your shoulder. At the start they use their body and don’t use their shoulder as much as they should. It takes some time to get used to that.”

December

Theo continued his rehabilitation from a dislocated shoulder throughout December. The winger is expected to return in February or March.

January

Theo sat out the whole of January with a dislocated shoulder but his manager provided some good news on the comeback front. “Walcott will be back in March or maybe the end of February,” the manager said on Friday, January 9. “He will be the quickest one because he has started to run already. It is easier to plan after shoulder surgery than anything else.”

February

Theo continued his rehabilitation on his shoulder injury throughout February but his return to action is not far away. Speaking on a live webchat sponsored by EA Sports on February 10 the winger said: “I am doing a lot of rehab work now with the shoulder, landing on it, and also in the gym with a lot of weights to build the muscle strength back. I am seeing a specialist on February 24 so he will give me the heads up.”

March

Theo made his long awaited return from a dislocated shoulder after 71 minutes of Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Burnley on March 8th. The winger went on to feature in the next three fixtures of the month, starting twice. However, the rapid winger suffered another injury setback during training on Friday, March 20.

April

Theo played a part in all eight of April’s fixtures, starting all but one. The rapid winger scored a crucial equaliser against Wigan on Saturday 11th and opened the scoring in Arsenal’s FA Cup Semi-Final defeat against Chelsea with a clinical volley. Then, in the Gunners’ incredible 4-4 draw with Liverpool, the England ace embarked on another mazy dribble to supply Andrey Arshavin with his fourth of the evening.

May

Although Theo featured in four of May’s five fixtures, it was his off-pitch exploits that were most pleasing for Arsenal fans. On Friday, May 8 the 20-year-old put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at the Club. Afterwards he said: “It’s fantastic to work with the best manager in the world and play at Emirates Stadium, which is an unbelievable place to play in. I just want to continue playing my football at this Club and look forward to many successful seasons ahead.”

April

‘That run’ against Liverpool was undoubtedly the highlight of Theo’s April. Running from one box to the other, leaving four Liverpool players in his wake, he eventually set-up Emmanuel Adebayor for the simplest of tap-ins in front of the away fans. Elsewhere he continued to develop into a terrifying wide man, scoring against Derby and appearing in every game. He capped the month off with the Arsenal.com Player of the Month award.

March

Theo enjoyed another successful month with the Club as he registered an assist in the win over Milan and made match-saving impacts in several other fixtures during March. The youngster also earned a recall to the England squad days after his 19th birthday.

February

An explosive end to the month for Theo with two goals at Birmingham, his first strikes in the Premier League. An injury prevented the 18-year-old from featuring until the final minutes of the draw with AC Milan, where he nearly unlocked the visitors defence with a stunning cross that was headed against the crossbar. He was handed a starting berth at St Andrews and seized the opportunity with both hands.
