Taylor, Williamson seal 4-0 win
New Zealand 303 for 5 (Taylor 102, Williamson 88) beat India 216 (Kohli 82, Dhoni 47, Henry 4-38) by 87 runs
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor refused to take their collective foot off India bowlers' throats, as they took their partnership tally for the series to 463 - which is the highest for a total of four partnerships, and fourth-highest overall - setting India yet another 300-total, which India were always going to find difficult to chase with only two top specialist batsmen in any sort of form. In the process, Williamson set the New Zealand record for most runs in a bilateral series, his 361 being 18 more than Taylor's, who became only the second New Zealander to have scored 10 ODI centuries. If it was the old firm with the bat, with the ball Matt Henry came out of nowhere to register the third-best debut figures for a New Zealander and consign India to a 4-0 defeat, who are yet to win a match since they began touring in December.
It was almost like a contest for the Man-of-the-Series award between Taylor and Williamson, who came together at 41 for 2 in the 13th over. They had added 311 in the three chances they had got to bat together in the series, but this time New Zealand were most desperate for runs from them. And they delivered, forging a 152-run partnership to not only shore them up, but give them the momentum as well.
On the other hand, this pitch had something for the bowlers. The outfield was the slowest of the series, and the lush square made piercing gaps difficult. India conceded no boundary in the first over, and the four boundaries that were scored in the first 14 overs involved a certain degree of risk that required the batsmen to go over the infield.
Taylor began the delightful turnaround with two scorching drives, all along the ground, with one to the left of cover, and the second to the right, in the 15th over. The second of those brought up 250 runs for Taylor in the series. At that point, he was the only one in the New Zealand top seven to have not hit a six in the series.
The whole flow of the match turned in that over. Scoring suddenly began to look easy. R Ashwin had to be brought on, and there was nothing for him in the pitch. Williamson frustrated him by using his feet and reaching the pitch of the ball almost every time. On the odd occasion that he was beaten in the flight - like in the 16th over - he recovered well. Runs now came easily with Varun Aaron missing the accuracy of the opening bowlers. When Aaron conceded the second boundary of the 21st over, the first time that Taylor had gone aerial, the two had brought up another fifty-run stand.
Soon Williamson displayed what should be the image of this New Zealand summer: down the wicket, making room, and chipping one over extra cover. This happened for the first time in the 24th over, which took Williamson to within 16 of becoming only the second man to have scored fifties in all the matches of a five-ODI series. The fifty came duly, by which time he had overtaken Taylor, who followed suit and also brought up the hundred of the stand, their third of the series.
The 31st over had begun by then, and Williamson now began to break away from Taylor. He swept Ravindra Jadeja either side of fine leg for successive fours before painting another picture with an inside-out chip. When the Powerplay began, Taylor finally played his first slog of the series, sending Bhuvneshwar Kumar over midwicket for four. In the same over, Williamson ramped over the keeper's head. Taylor had pulled out an axe, Williamson was going at it with a blade, and India were bleeding profusely.
By the time Williamson, with seven wickets in hand over the remaining 12.3 overs, New Zealand were expected to add plenty to their 193 runs. Taylor finally hit his first six of the series, with his beloved slog-sweep that he had put away throughout the series. Shami's yorkers towards the end restricted the damage, with only 110 in the last 12.3 overs, but you suspected it was more than enough on this pitch and outfield.
Kyle Mills, Mitchell McClenaghan and Henry went on to prove that suspicion right. There were no loose balls on offer, and with the asking rate rising, desperate shots soon began to appear. The third of those, from Ajinkya Rahane, made it 30 for 3 in the 14th over, and although Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are superb chasers it was really getting too much. Kohli and Dhoni tried to take it deep before going bang, but once Kohli fell for 82 off 78, it was all over with not even half the runs scored in 36.1 overs.
For the first time since 2007, New Zealand had blanked a team ranked higher than them, and India were now one short of their longest winless streak in ODIs.

Well Played NZ.
India needs new blood. Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma and Suresh Raina who were groomed and pampered for years have failed miserably. They should be dropped forever.
While everyone is berating the bowlers, the batting has actually let us down. Nowadays 300 is normal in a 50 over game. Unless one has Mitchell Johnson, Dale Steyn, Ajmal and another Pakistani fast bowler in the team, don't expect the opposition to score less than 300. After 10 overs, India's score would be 25! That's ridiculous. If we had Sehwag (yes he does fail a few times), the score after 10 overs would be at least 65-70. We cannot expect to win a game if we don't open well. Why does Rohit Sharma get so many chances? He's tentative, slow and never rotates the strike! He is clearly not good enough. Will be better to recall Sehwag, atleast he can score a quickfire 30-40 runs! Our bowling is not great, we all know that! But ODIs are won by batsmen; Kohli and Dhoni can't win all the games for us. One person who's clearly enhanced his reputation is Jadeja. He fields great, bowls tight and is batting better also. Get Sehwag back, & drop Rohit now! Ishant never again please!
And further more I really hope sides continue to take nz lightly at the World Cup great spot for us to be in.. You will get smoked!
Why do people keep bro Ging up bangladesh. You are only asgood as your last three months form. Sides improve rapidly in cricket. India got pumped by a far better side in nz and guess what it didn't happen half a year ago.
The West Indies cricket team provided great practice to this New Zealand squad which in turn fully prepared them for a much more worthy opponent, the sad thing about this Indian team is, they have been playing so much cricket within the last few years and so many of their real stars are no longer in the team due to poor form, which is actually " BURN OUT" from too much cricket and very little rest. I do not know if one can really make a fair assessment of this New Zealand team's recent success, this Indian team is not playing anywhere near the quality of cricket that Indian cricket is known for because their players are just to over worked and too scared to say it. So to even claim that New Zealand cricket is back on the way up i will have to see them play a series against a team like South Africa, Australia or maybe Sri Lanka to be able to make a really educated assessment of their true performance.
Nothing Unexpected, and we are having a Good laugh at India and England, 2 of the Big threes, Australia, still wont budge, but one thing is for Sure India are getting Pathetic in every Game they play... But also NZ played much much better than Australia have and India, Sorry to say, never stood a Chance after they lost the First Game.
INDIA need new players like NZ team and SL team.
We don't need tendulkar, sehwagh, gambhir, yuvi, harbhajan, ganguly, Kumble, zak, they are old guns......
2 of the big 3 have been whitewashed. Who 's gonna repeat the same story with the remaining one.
From last 12 ODI [outside India], India won just 1, tie 1 [luckily] & lost 10 of them... So they are definitely Minnows... they should play in the 2nd tier of ODI with China, Namibia, Hongkong or Canada...
I am very happy and delighted to see 4-0 series won by NZ. I cant exprees how much happy i am.

I would now love to hear from the Indians who claimed they are gonna thrash NZ by 5-0. I read someone saying Indians are World Champions and even their B team can beat NZ. Seriously? Stop talking & start playing good cricket if you can.
India on the receiving end against New Zealand. That must be a shock without excuses? Good lesson for India and congratulations to New Zealand.
Besides their obvious talent & form, is it any wonder that both Taylor & Williamson scored loads of runs in the series as they both have largely had to face our innocuous spinners when coming to the crease. It enabled to them play risk-free cricket initially in building a platform & gradually upping their strike rates. NZ then had their stroke makers like McCullum, Anderson etc to come in & thrash our remaining useless bowling if need be. The figures speak for themselves - Ashwin took just 1 wicket in the series at an an ave of 277 while Jadeja's was only marginally better - 4 wickets at 60. MSD could have picked Mishra or Pandey in the last match as surely they can't have performed any worse than Ashwin but nothing changes. MSD will still pick both Ashwin & Jadeja for the Test matches, they will again struggle in their bowling & we will continue to lose! We should persevere & not be harsh on young players like Rahane, Bhuvi, Dhawan etc as they need more exposure in playing abroad.
Well, one of the reasons India lost was I think not batting first in 4 ODIs, if we concentrate the 4th ODI , It was not a good total by India but still it was chased in 48 or 49 overs, so lets declare that batting second has its pressure, As cricket fan I can say 60 to 70 percent matches have been won by batting first.
If India cannot beat anybody in playing cricket, they will beat them with administration.
Didn't New Zealnd get the script. They are not allowed to beat one of the BIG 3, definitely not humiliate them 4-0
Well played NZ!!! Long live competitive cricket
Thanks to stats guru, Bangladesh have never beaten New Zealand outside of Bangladesh in any form of the game (including neutral countries) and New Zealand have still beaten Bangladesh more times in Bangladesh than Bangladesh. So all you Bangladesh people that think because Bangladesh beat NZ at home 3 zip that you must be better than India, well, keep dreaming!
Mesbah Uddin Ahmed what ODI did Williamson play? OK Rhochi played the last one, that still leaves out 3 out of 4 of our top ODI batsman. Check before you write something.
@Gagg Williamson and Ronchi did play that series. Check before you write something
So this is all to avoid hence hunt to get boss role of ICC.
What are you on about Muhammad Isa ? You bangladesh supporters are really something else. What happens when you come here? NZ Won with 20 overs to go, NZ won by 6 wickets etc etc sounds about right? Like I keep saying Bangladesh couldn't and wouldn't beat a NZ first domestic first class team in New Zealand
4-0 ? against NZ ? world champs ? lol
The Indian bowling attack continues to leak runs to any opposition, be it Aus/NZ/SA or anyone else. Only difference being when we play at home, out batting can chase it down regularly (ie. vs. Aus) on flat, dead tracks. Playing on more sporting pitches abroad, our batting falters and we lose. It's only then that the glaring weaknesses in our bowling are exposed. No point making excuses when we lose, since this problem has been ignored for too long.
Just the reason BCCI is pressing for the big 3. No need to go to remote places like NZ and getting thrashed like this, when you have your own backyard to play in. Geoff Boycott is right about not looking too much into the ICC ranking system. It is a complete joke.
I think the reason why India lost 0-4 to NZ is because NZ wanted to take revenge against a subcontinent country after they lost against BD 0-3. India cannot win outside of their by playing with 2 players, Dhoni & Kohli, versus 11 playing against them.
Dhoni is playing politics to keep his captaincy. He slowly write off people like shewag, gambir, yuvi etc who were competitors for the captaincy. Now he is one and only captaincy for the team for another 3-5 years. at the same time he make sure his buddies are in the team how bad they perform ashwin, jadeja, ishant, dawan etc. that has cause decline of Indian cricket.
according to my religion if you do bad thing to others it will come back to you(karma). this is what exactly happen to india. their board planning and trying to implement bad thing for cricket and result is pretty obvious!
Well done NZ!
A great all round performance from Taylors and Kanes batting to a pretty good overall bowling performance.
Great captaincy from bmac, and credit needs to be given to hesson and the selectors for taking the risks and bringing new players into the squad, and player development in general.
Hopefully this form will extend into the test series.
the way we are going currently we can easily lose to Ethiopia or even Siberia in their backyards. We need to bring back our legendary fast bowler Ishant Sharma if we need to reduce the opposition's scoring 300+ and avoid this type of humiliating victories. Also I highly advice our BCCI to cancel some of the upcoming tours outside the subcontinent to avoid further exposing our weaknesses
NZ played excellent cricket and outplayed IND in every department. Their bowlers bowled with discipline and according to a plan and showed that you don't need to be an express or a tearaway bowler to contain runs and take wickets at regular intervals. Their middle order was really impressive and some of the shots that Williamson played were simply outstanding. All of the pitches were sporting and aided those who applied themselves, either bowlers or batsmen. I truly believe that this is how wickets should be prepared. Again, congrats NZ on an outstanding win. Cheers.
Has been a real pleasure to watch the batting of Williamson and Taylor this summer. Brilliant. Guptill looks good at the top...still not sure about Jessie up there...would like to see the skipper return to the top and see if he can recapture his form up there. Well done guys and well done to the new bowlers Taylors place in 20/20 to me is # 3 or even open....you have a player who can build an innings then able to blast away if required.
That series was an absolute lesson! Taylor and Williamson are pure class. I actually think Williamson will end up with a better record than Taylor. Really coming good now.
I see a lot of people commenting on how badly India performed. While this is perhaps the case, it does detract from the fact that NZ performed really well. The young talent coming through the ranks is very exciting indeed. I honestly fancy NZ chances of being serious contender in WC, although winning it may be a stretch too far at this stage. Nonetheless, a great improvement and ominous sign of things to come. Well done lads!
No wonder BCCI wanted their team to be among the top 3 regardless of it's on field performance! Indian administrators are performing better than their players.
Time Indian fans stopped referring to their No 1 ranked team unless they've switched to supporting Aust. No question Aust would thump India in their respective current form. Great to see NZ playing to their potential, a strong and in form NZ adds so much spice to a WC! It's just a pity we couldn't make a mid series swap, let the mediocre Eng & India have a fair contest while the Aust & NZ juggernauts square off in a battle of true muscle.
Wow! I'm in awe... Taylor has been amazing! How often does someone score 1000+ runs in a home summer? Something which Taylor is on the verge of, with hopefully two tests to do it (congratz on the new boy, and hope all goes well). The rest of the guys are performing really well, on the back of Taylors class. Go the BLACKCAPS!!
Another disastrous performance, India have guns to play with but all guns except one or two fired well but rest like cheap Diwali crackers . On a pitch when our top class strength spin failed to produce economical spell black caps spinner N MCcullum produced something spectacular. I think India has to reevaluate in all departments and also not sure why India didn't bother trying IC Pandey or giving another chance to Binny. Overall a disappointing overseas ODI series. World cup will be hosted here so India has to think well come up with a plan otherwise India wouldn't get past league level. I wouldn't recommend changing the team but team especially bowling dept needs to be prepared well. I would still think Pujara adds stability to the team, so sending Pujara as 3 or 4 would be good idea but definitely not as opener since everyone knows what's his strengths are. Any ways hope India include Pujara going forward in atleast Overseas ODI series.
Can't recall in recent times when Team India won One Day Series Overseas, I think last they won against #10 rank team Zim and of course they were very lucky to Win ICC Champion Trophy which was played outside India. Although overall its quite a Balance side, so what does BCCI do?? they are busy Threatening other Boards in ICC meetings if their proposal doesn't get through they will may not play at any ICC event and may be with those country whose boards are not ready to with the proposal, so its mean BCCI will play all their future matches with in India and win them all, its time for BCCI to wake up, as they have England & Australian series ahead of WC 2015 any may be in future we see these 3 teams featuring together most of the time.
See its the t20 that is the problem and not our beloved ODI which has given birth to players like SRT, Ponting and Pollock. I suggest to either let go t20 completely or just have t20 WC once every 2 years. This will reduce the traffic of matches in bilateral series and as a result more fans would be automatically oriented towards what would be left of a limited form of cricket, which would be ODI.
Excellent Performance by New Zealand. This NZ side looks so balanced and has a good combination of good batsman, Allrounders and Bowlers. Top order is in very good form with some classy players in middle order of kane williamson, taylor and mcullum(combo of young and experienced talent) following with emrging allrounder anderson and dangerous Ronchi. Also great Combination of bowling with, miles, mcculum, Milne, Mcclenagan. I wouldnt be surprised if this NZ team will be tough one to beat in WC 2015. This team has the best chance to win the trophy next year. This Team is sort of similar with young talent and exprience emerging at the same time when India went into WC 2011. As being an Indian fan, very diappointed in India. I didnt expect india to whitewash the series but I didnt expect india to loose this badly. India needs some serious rethinking, and may time to make some serious changes in the team. They have the talent, ability to be champions but this team lacks discipline.
@Ahmed: that was a very good write up about the big three! The big three are only big financially. Surely results must speak loader than words! Every team deserves a chance to play against the big team and beat them. There is no such thing as the big three. We all know it's all politics! Unfortunately BCCI is too powerful right now it's just as well they got a thrashing by a such lowly ranked team. Hopefully ICC should stop and think if having two division will actually improve the standard of cricket! I have my doubts.
When you keep making the same mistakes over & over again, what does that tell you? Case in point, the 4 away series India have recently had against SA, England, NZ & Australia have resulted in 0-2 in 3, 0-3 in 5, 0-4 in 5 & 1-3 in 4 leaving them with 1-12 in 17 games, yet they plod along with no thought of altering their tactics? And all this justified because they won the last WC in their back yard & were #1? Great vision, boys, great vision. Seriously, with those stats, did any real fan of the game expect anything different?
@Duncan McLeod - your post typifies what teams like NZ are up against. You list Williamsons very impressive recent test & ODI performances and say that he is 'approaching' world class. If those had been the figures of an Indian or Oz player I'm sure you'd have called them world class without qualification. Many comments focus on the Indian performances without giving much credit to NZ. Some, like Manoj Patil's post that India have made "an average side look great" are downright insulting. This is the same arrogance shown by the Big 3.
Be fair. NZ have been consistent. Five 50's to Williamson, 2 100's and 2 50's to Taylor, a partnership tally of 463 for the series. Anderson, a batting average of 60 and 10 wkts at 18.1 in 3 games. Ronchi, an average of 48.5 and 10 catches. Southee, 8 wkts at 28.12. Mills, 29 overs @ 4.37 rpo when not one Indian bowler went for less than 5 rpo. And a guy on debut takes 4/38 against the previous No1 ranked side. Average - I think not. A great team effort.
What is wrong with this picture?... BCCI is by far the richest board, NZ board would be far lower on that ladder, there can not be even a comparison. Cricket is by far India's most popular sport, Cricket is not even NZ's top sport, it is rugby. Population-wise India is 300 times larger. India has 1.2 Billion people, Huge pool to pick and train future cricketers from who are interested. NZ has only 4 Million people, NZ has very little choice there. And still India goes down 0- 4 to New Zealand. Could it be that money and now power hungry BCCI is India's main problem and fast becoming world cricket's main problem.
@Ranjit Goonewardena - well you might ask how the rankings work. Beats me. But no - India don't now go behind NZ. They are still 21 points ahead of NZ who are also 13 points behind England who have been getting hammered and who NZ beat 2-1 in England last year. The way the rankings work are a mystery but I suspect that if NZ were to win every game in their next ODI series and India and England were to lose every game in their next ODI series that NZ would still be quite a few points behind. The current system makes it near impossible for lower ranked teams to progress and every game they lose along the way drives them further into the wilderness. Quite simply: the rankings are a joke. They certainly do not reflect present reality. This current NZ side is light years ahead of the side as it was a year or so ago. Makes you laugh that the Big 3 are trying to stack everything in their favour. It already is stacked their way. The rankings seem designed to give them an advantage.
So the chirping from Indian fans goes on. Now Rahane, Rohit, Rayudy, Varun Aron, Bhuvneshwar, all proved to be big failures, the new song fans will be singing now is about Mishra, Pandey., Tiwari, Rasool should be in the team. trust me Mishra has been in the team so many times and has been discarded due to poor performances. No point of just rotating failed players over and over again. India should make a policy of inducting young players giving them good number of chances to prove themselves and then if they succeed like Kohli and Pujara then keep them but if they fail go to the next shining youngster from U-19. India must stop regurgitating of old failed players over and over if they want to be a good team.
As long Rohit is in team India will occasionally win and mostly lose. This guy with his unassured body langauge and very slow scoring rate creates imbalance and puts pressure on all other batsmen batting around him. I think Unmukt Chand should have been given atleast 10 chances to settle. He is young and attacking batsman. India seriously needs to get two good fast bowlers and a young replacement for Nohit Sharma. BCCI should act fast, time is running out for team India.
Now every one knows how bad is Indian cricket team.It is better Srini and BCCI concentate on improving Indian cricket rather than trying for false prestige in international cricket
No win In 8 consecutive matches. I still believe as a Sri Lankan India is a very good team. I think this has happened because the BCCI is focusing more on IPL cricket than international cricket.
Well played Black caps. As for India this should be an eye opener rather than a panic button. As this opens up an opportunity to try some new Guns in bowling as well as batting department.Plus not to offend any Indian fans i really feel types of track made in your home have nothing for bowler which might be a reason for your bowling not being up to the mark or even international standards, because they never got that confidence or chance to become stars from these tracks.your last home series against Aus was a show of batting against bowling which was completely paralyzed by types of tracks produced. Going further I remember when Rohit made double century some Indian fan were on top of moon but for me i was not impressed because i knew he would surely getting exposed outside India ,Again this is can be blamed on tracks for making ordinary batman look into great batman . The only indian Batsmen you can bet anywhere are Kholi,Dhoni and pujara right now.
At the beginning of the series, MSD claims he had a settled side. Then as the losses started mounting, he blamed his pace bowlers, then his top order batsman & today his middle order batsmen! Amazing! The ONLY person he doesn't blame is himself - who seems to have learnt nothing from his losses in both SA & here in NZ. He sticks with his CSK colleagues despite every loss & shows no inclination to change things at all. Playing two spinners has clearly not worked with both Ashwin & Jadeja conceding around 100 runs or more each time & barely taking a wicket! In a dead rubber match today, he could have tried the remaining members of his squad but instead he sticks with his failing tactics & team selection! He's got to realize he no longer is playing back at home in India & needs to adapt/change in playing abroad. Frustrating for me as a fan but can see him adopting these same failures for the forthcoming Tests too!
WI tied ODI series against the same NZ team just recently. Now India losing 4-0 is a big big upset. I think it's a great victory by NZ against #1 ranked team.
Fellow indian fans should not be get disappointed. Let IPL come and every failed batsman will be plundering runs at strike rate of 200+ and bowlers will be taking heaps of wickets in miserly spells. Then everyone will forget this 4-0, just as 8-0 forgotten.
Tit for Tat...India is now busy in playing dirty politics around " ICC TABLE"..so it has lost it's main goal for game of cricket. If you want to play good cricket, you will have to be respectful to other teams!!!
India needs genuine fast bowlers. who can bowl regularly with 145 kph +. i don't know y don't they pick the umesh yadav, he's fastest bowler in india.
Indians again proved that they are incapable outside their home grounds. I humbly request you all (Indians) to find some solutions for your team's tragedy rather than criticizing other country's performance. (Sri Lankan's)..
A few comments about the 'Big Three'. Let us make no mistake about it. This is a financial concept and nothing to do with cricketing ability. 2 of the Big Three do not seem to be able to win a cricket match in anger! If the same concept was in Football, Qatar may have had more clout and a higher profile than Brazil!!
By now BCCI has proven that money can not produce good performance or cricket, but good cricket can bring money, may be not in the scale BCCI brings but good cricket can bring enough money to sustain itself. BCCI has only one formula- make flat batting friendly pitches where their batsmen thrive OR make spinning tracks so that they can easily beat visiting teams who can not play spin. BCCI never created a structure that can consistently produce good international player, they could NOT do it, they had 1.2 BN people to choose from whose favorite sports is Cricket and BCCI had ALL the money. India gets beaten 0-4 by a country 300 times smaller and cricket is not even number one sports there. If structure of the ICC should be changed then let people with proven track record take over. People who successfully improved cricket in their own country, people who produced world class teams should run ICC, guys who ran WI cricket in 70s and 80s or AUS in 90s and 2000s, NOT a failure like BCCI.
You cannot do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. If certain players and certain strategies are not working, Dhoni and Fletcher seem to be lost on trying something innovative. If openers are struggling to score, why not try promoting a pinch hitter like Binny in one game? Why not try either Rohit or Dhawan in the middle order when fielders are spread. When Kohli was scoring, NZ countered by bowling wide on the offside to him in the next two games. Why no such plan came from Fletcher against Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor?
ICC ODI Rankings & ratings are totally a joke ! eg: Virat Kohli had two poor outings before today's match.with today's 82, he scored only 90 runs in 3 innings after last update.but he lost only two rating points. If same happen to a player from 'smaller' nation, 30, 35 points will be deducted from him!mediocore Players from India, Australia will be in top 10 after one good performance (not kohli, he deserved to be in top 3) but same not happen to others.
Try Trial : Your table made me Roll on floor laughing. Seeing your table it looks like you quickly forgot where are you comming from, a 4-0 drubbing and 2-0 before that.. You consider Pak batting below avg with zim Lol..for your info we hands down beat NZ in NZ recently in ODI and Test matches. and did you forget recent victories against SA nd Sri. No team does that if it has Zim like batting..infact it looks like your team mimmiks zim batting better, when outside its den..Cricinfo Post
Can't belive this the spinners were totally useless for most of the series still dhoni din't try misha, if he din't have faith in mishra what he has been doing in the 16 for such a long time. Also today was a nice chance to give ishwar pandey his debut game. But no dhoni dosen't give hime the chnace and same team persist. NO way india even reaches the quater final next year . Even WI tied the series with NZ. Horrible losing the series 4-0 is just embarrising.
All recent matches, NZ won at home v/s the mighty Ind, impressive Aus won at home v/s Eng and just before that Eng won at home v/s Aus Pak won at home v/s weak Afghan team (Sharjah is their 2nd home) SA won at home v/s Ind SL won against weak BD team
Moral of the story, everyone is a lion at their home pitches or against a weaker opponent. Atleast when Ind win at home they make world records.
The results for India in New Zealand and South Africa clearly an evidence against "the big three" proposal. They are not white washed by #8 team in ranking how can they even dream to be in big three's.
ICC should strive to remain International Cricket Council instead to be hijacked and named Indian Cricket Council. The big three issue is going to damage the cricket all together and push top notch cricket playing countries like South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan to the benches. Also England recently being beaten shamelessly by Aussies that too does not justify England to be in big three.
If cricket is all about money, fame and politics then big three is the way to go. But if cricket as a game has to flourish with equal opportunities for cricketing nations then this idea of big three has to b dropped.
PLEASE think 100 times before ICC can b recalled as the body to damage cricket in the times to come.
@ Night_Fury, referring to India's batsmen, wrote "Only Dhoni and Kohli deserve to be playing. I hope everyone else including Rohit, Dhawan, Rahane, Rayudu, Raina etc should be kicked out."
That might sound radical, but looking at the scorecard and seeing that Shami & Kumar scored more than Nohit, Dhawan, Rahane, Ashwin & Jadega, & that Rayudu just equalled Kumar, you have a pretty good point! That point is truly reinforced by the fact that only Dhoni & Kholi averaged above 50, and not 1 of the other top 6 bats averaged above 29. In South Africa, only Dhoni averaged above 28 - his ave of 42 not brilliant, but not embarrassing!!! In SA Jadega was the 2nd best batsman, & in NZ he was the 3rd best!!
In SA Dhawan averaged 6, and in NZ 20. In SA Rohit averaged 18.5, and in NZ 29. Rahane averaged 8 in SA & 10 in NZ. Raina was more consistent: he averaged 25 & 28.
You have a good point, Night_Fury. I have a feeling that Sewag and Gambhir might have done a little better!
It's time for some heads to roll. Ishant and Ashwin should never be selected for any India team. Let them play in the IPL. Replace them with Rishi Dhawan, Pankaj Singh, Parvez Rasool, etc.
As for batsmen, it's time to put Nohit Sharma, Dhawan and Rahane on ice, at least for ODI. Replace them with Sanju Samson, Kedar Jhadav, Aparajith, Lokesh Rahul, etc.
The BCCI should answer this question. Who are the specialist batsmen and the specialist bowlers in this Indian team? Rohit (4), Dhawan (9), Rahane (2) combined for 15 runs batting at numbers 1, 2, and 4. Add Rayudu (20) at number 5 and a grand total of 35 runs was plundered at a rate of about 2 runs an over. Shami at number 10 had the best strike rate of all 11 players except for Kohli. And what about the bowlers? Every specialist bowler went for 6 plus runs an over. The best economy rate was achieved by Kohli at around 5 runs per over. Well played New Zealand but don't be complacent. India is looking and playing like UAE or Hong Kong. Thankfully I did not waste my time going to these one sided matches. Bring on Zimbabwe for a better contest.
That,s why india are just called the tigers of there home not the tigers of the cricket
Wow, NZ did it! It is a wonderful feeling to see this, It shows that cricket is not for the big 3 but the big everyone, Go Kiwi' or black caps. I really enjoy this series and the one day series with Windies. I love Cricket, because of games like these. Ross Taylor, Ryder, and the orange target shirts. This World Cup is for NZ to take home!!!!!
superb performance by newzeland keep it up.
VARUN AARON! This hype is real. After a long time you see a young fast bowler who bowls fast consistently in a match. Seriously fast. Two deliveries of 150kph! 19 times he crosses the magic 90mph mark and when he does not he is around 88,89mph consistently. Now wouldnt it be a shame if a talent like that doesnt succeed? I am afraid that he might be a wasted talent because BCCI has failed to groom fast bowlers properly over the years. They only care about young batsmen, Indian fans are the same. Their fetish for good batting has been a constant for generatons. Aaron is only 24! BCCI needs to invest in this guy, he should get special attention. A guy like that is worth 4 good young batsmen in my eyes. They don't grow on trees. Get him proper coaching, monitor his workload and give him a contract so that he is financially set. Project Varun Aaron! They can't ruin his career. He alongwith Shami could be a waseem-waqar like pair for India. All eyes on him from today on.
So how does the rankings work? Now that NZ has threashed India does that mean they have go behind NZ in the tables? That's a big drop isn't it?
@Jamshed ahmed ,you said the right point . That may be the reason why Pak batsmans don't look as successful as India's. Recent pakistani batting talents are going directly to play abroad from first class games. In past, pak batting didn't look too bad and had some great batsmans. Pakstant's playing away from home is making newcoming batsman difficult to grow up.
I see many people including Rahane in their team. What has he done in ODI matches?? He did well in South Africa in test matches but not in ODI matches. In ODIs you should have capability to score of bouncy balls and not just leave them alone which one does in test matches. There are limited number of overs. I am afraid RAHANE has disappointed in ODIs
Also to all those touting Ishwar pandy as a replacement, just look at his domestic record, he is an ordinary bowler, no pace, no fast bowler's build indicating speed improvement, nor great accuracy. Pankaj singh is a much better bowler then him. My selection would be Umesh and Aaaron to help create a fast bowling culture in India, buvanesh kumar to carry on the legacy of swing, Mishra or Ojha in spin department as wicket taking spinners, Ashwin or jadeja for containment and as bowling all rounders'.
Dont worry abt these losses....Indian team (especially our captain) knows hw to deal with losses...and everyone knows its the losses that will teach us more than the wins....but certain things hav to b taken care of.....India needs 1 pace bowling all rounder....i hav heard abt rishi dhawan.....bt am nt sure hw much he will succeed in international cricket...or give irfan pathan another chance....he can bowl like bhuvi and bat better than ashwin...another thing India needs is a genuine spinner....ashwin has to improve his bowling or mishra should b tried....3rd thing is indian teams opening pair.... Selectors has to decide the role of Rohit sharma....Everyone calls him lazy elegant...Perfect word to define him....bt too lazy to be in the team....If these many chances were given to sehwag or gambhir they might regain their form long back....
Agree keep Kohli away from Captaincy, Rewind remember what happened to Dravid & Sachin when they became captains and give Dhoni some rest so that he can get his head together. Gambhir must be recalled ...we benched him at the cost of Rohit ...how miserable can it get ...
This defeat is one of the worse in Indian Cricket. The pitches are good for batting and there is no swing. Just a bit of seam movement and bounce but nothing alarming. I was more disappointed by our batters, apart kohli they just not able to rotate the strike. It looks like dhooni has no plan B. Just bowl first and chase. He does not have faith in his fast bowlers and just keep playing his favored players like jadeja, ishant, raina, ashwin. Sad day for indian fans....
Although he was a touch expensive, Aaron bowled with some serious pace. If he is nurtured along with umesh yadav India will have a serious bowing pair. and by the way fast bowlers will be expensive. this series was not just lost by the bowlers but also by the batsmen. India has chased 300s very easily on flatbeds, so I blame the batsmen except kohli. Also whats with crick info, it always shows white bolwers, bowling around 140 as fast and Indian bowlers, bowling high 140 as medium. both umesh and aaron are shown as medium.
I think that the real test for NZ will be how well they perform away from home.
T20 is the brain child of "big 3", at first India took the back seat but soon BCCI turned t20 into the biggest industry in cricket history. BCCI knows winning and specially winning in high scoring matches are the sure way to make money, they have turned almost every home pitch to suit their batsman, so much so that their "best batting lineup in the world" has forgotten to bat in foreign conditions, it is hard to beat muscle memory!. BCCI knows how to make money, t20 has shown then the path, now they want to earn money in every format. BCCI is in the process of destroying their own test/ODI cricket and now they are going to be the guardian of the world cricket?! How is the rest of the world allowing it to happen?!
Congratulations NZ. When they toured BD, even though they lost the ODI series, i had said, they have some great young talents and they have shown what they can do in their backyard. Excellent win. Congratulations from BD.
Lol sad part is u people know why indian got such a embarrassing loss coz they have too much pride and talk way too much before game starts like oh our players are ready to challenge and win against anyone lol Hahahaha. This series showed how much challenge they can give actually lol
India need Pujara n Zaheer.. Also Gambhir n Pathan bros will be handy.. Dhoni should take some rest.. Gambhir is a good leader..keep kohli away from captaincy.. gud luck Ind from Pak..
well played new zealand..they bowled well and batted quite good enough to thrash india in the one-day series..we will wilsh to forget this series and watch the test series and curse, abuse, malign our players again and again until that great soap IPL comes..we will chant again..dhoni..dhoni..dhoni..salute our indians..great
Stop blaming Shammi also. Poor guy performed consistently well in Ind & SA. One average series and I see many after his blood. Even today, he maintained the pressure in initial overs and others got the wickets, because of him. When I compare him with Bhuvi, Aaron, Ishant, he has done pretty well compared to all others. And I don't blame Bhuvi or Aaron also as these guys are used to bowl in not supporting tracks in India. You take them and place in a place where bowling works and these guys don't know how to use it. Give them time and they will mature and use the conditions. Anyway for WC it will be pitches prepared by ICC guidelines and it will favor batsmen. I think our bowlers will do better there. And our batsmen will do extremely well. I think this is the best line up we ever had for those kind of pitches and this will be the first time we will be able to defend WC successfully.
Wonderful performance, NZ! I'm really looking forward to NZ going into the World Cup with the confidence to make it past the semis - they've got the bowling, and the batting when it clicks… the fielding could improve a tad, but it's a great outfit.
India haven't adjusted here, and their bowling looks toothless. But we all know it can come together. Also, Dhoni's finishing isn't quite as King Viv-cool or as Michael Bevan-nerdy as it has been in the past (a killer combination). As an Australian, I've become accustomed to our team not being good enough at times (eg in India last time), but with enough effort, the details start to go right and the talent starts to come out.
Among all one day teams I will rate like this
Very Good - Most of the time performing in all conditions Good - 70% time performing on all conditions above average - 60% time performing on all conditions average - always performing on helpful conditions below average - 60-70% performing on helpful conditions poor - less than 50% performing on helpful conditions
India Batting - Very good (If you drop Kohli it will become above average and if you drop Dhoni it will become average) Bowling - Average
Aus Batting - Good Bowling - above average
Sl Batting - Above Average Bowling - below average
Pakistan Batting - below average/poor Bowling - good
SA Batting - above average Bowling - above average
WI Batting - Above average Bowling - average
NZ Batting - Above average Bowling - average
Ban Batting - Below average Bowling - average
Zimb Batting - Below average/poor Bowling - below average/poor
A sound beating now and again is sometimes necessary. Awakens the senses, exposes ones faults and weaknesses in order that remedial action may be taken. More effective if received away from home. Don't worry Team India, every cloud has a silver lining.
@ blade runner, Pakistan has not played a game home gain since 2009, so they have played all matches away, imagine if india had to do that, we already seen how good they are
Hahahaa couldn't even win an game away at NewZealand.
Flat track bullies!
forgot to mention .. the big big three team :D india .. keep calm and play at home..
shame on india elevn.. wellpalyed blackcaps.. Even God dont like proud team india.
NZ grounds are so tiny that the bowlers start their delivery run up almost from the boundary line. LOL
the worst odi world champions ever........
Stop blaming Indian one day batting line up and saying we will not do well in WC. Ours is still the best in the world. Remember we won Champions Trophy with this team, though on much flatter wickets. But remember, for all ICC tournaments, ICC instructs on preparing the wicket as mentioned by ICC chairman. And he also said that they prefer more batting friendly wickets so that the competition can be entertaining. So in World cup we will not be playing in pitches with this much movement or assistance to bowlers. Our bowlers bowl better on flatter wickets and even if they do not do very well our batsmen are the best in those pitches and can chase any score when required.
These days we have Quad copters with hi-speed HD,wireless cams to cover images of batsmen and bowlers while in the middle of a drink break, such images were rare to clip when this technology was not fully developed. These mini drones are being used in almost all the major events of cricket. In the US when we subscribe cricketing events we get non stop coverage with no commercials at all. In one of the breaks the drone goes towards the Kiwi bowlers and fielders and ends up taking close up of Kohli and Rehane. It was utterly disgusting when I saw Kohli trying to obscure his face by turning his face on the opposite and kept on doing that. May be he thought nobody will notice this but they do they observe every thing. Why are you running away Kohli? without your effort your team could have bundled out in 100 runs and losing a battle by 200 runs by a 2nd string would have been a disgrace to your country and your followers. Please don't do this cause you can't escape.
I hate rohit as an opener as well hate overall. Bcoz only one reason he is in team reason is he is friend of dhoni.. He not give way for one talented person. Need to remove Rohit, rahane, aaron, bhuvi, ishant and to give one more series for ashwin, jadeja and need to select dhawan as substitude opener for india. Still dhoni influence in selecting players means india not able to reach 2nd round in worldcup.. Yuvi is not in form already gave enough chances and there is no use of harbhajan to back already we had ojha and Mishra in bench. 1st try with them later to think about harbhajan. Give chance to youngsters like rishi dhawan, aparajith, samson and give chance to experienced dinesh karthik, gambhir, viru(for atleast two odi), and try Vijay in odi for one series..
Congrats to NZ team..to me NZ and Aussies are the favourite in the 2015 worl cup on present foem. with SA and SL,PAK are the next inform teams. i cant imagine what has happened to our BIGGEST OF THE BIG THREE they can only perfome in flat tracks..My dear indian friends 4-0 loss to NZ what a shame....
Curse you NZ, this is our revenge plan for you. No IPL contract for any of you (specially, Taylor, Williamson, McCullum 1 & 2, Ronchi, Neesham, Henry, Southee, Ryder, Guptil...hold on that's almost everybody right?). We will never tour NZ again (specially after we abolish FTP), and never to South Africa, Australia, England etc etc... This is not fair by our batsman, our batsmen will only play club matches in small grounds and flat pitches in future. We will only play test matches in India and only against Scotland and Zimbabwe.
ICC should reconsider the rank calculating system. India was No#1 and NZ was No#8. How and what basis they gave this ranking. If ICC continue these old useless system then I will give ICC last number (at the bottom). India played most of the matches on their home ground while other teams played abroad.
Bring back Tendulkar, shewag , gambir and yuwaraj they can win back world cup in 2015
@ blade_runner : I think every match that pak play is away for them. cricketing world developed a notion that dubai conditions provide Pakistan home like conditions but in reality it's as much away for us as much it is for any other team. both teams arrive on same date and train for equal time in these so called home grounds for part despite this we have been unbeatable. And lets not talk about winning test away as srilanka is clearly worse in world cricket in this aspects, not winning an away series since 14 years or so. Cheers
haha all you can do is laugh at inept india
Bringing it back to Proposal restructures of ICC and all of those things. Clearly they are a horrible traveling team. Clearly they demonstrate how ruthless they are when they cut the SA tour short to teach Haroon a lesson. Clearly these smaller nations that agreed with hat in hand to everything almost immediately don't realise that they will eventually feel that brunt of the BCCI if they put a toe out of line......who cares? they generate 80% of revenue and deserve a bigger portion of the pie and control.......let them run it, let them run everything, let them run this ship into the ground. Maybe India should operate on the American model, the country is big enough to sustain itself with almost 3 times bigger population than the US. Let them have their whole cake and eat it.
Shammi 10 overs 1 wicket for 61 Aaron 10 overs 2 wickets for 60 How much different is this from Ishant Sharma's bowling? I guess fans will be calling for them to be dropped also? India should include in their touring gear bags not only pads, bats, gloves and boxes but also a nice flat track wicket """"Made in India"""
NZ..now get ready to face the consequences…
india must got some good bowlers before got icc
Please sack Rohit once and for all. Dhawan, and Ashwin should be warned and given one more series to prove their worth. And there is no point in expecting Indian seamers to go do a good job, even in seaming pitches.
@ Ajmal_Magician ; May be Its coz you got thrashed by Zimbabwe or haven't won an away test in ages or your away records are as bad as India. Would you like me to continue ?? Go 'n read S Rajesh's "Numbers game" article. So you'll see that Sri Lanka are the best from SC. cheers !!
I am determined to not to insult our neighbors when they are down and out. Better luck next time India :)
A reality show for the bullying world champions at home.. well done NZL..
Congratulation, NZ! Well played. To all Indian Fans: If you claim your self #1/#2 in ODI ranking, than you should be able to beat any team in the world, in any place, and in any condition. That is what a true #1/#2 team would do. Otherwise, there would be no difference between Bangladesh and India. Bangladesh are also stronger in their own backyard, and whitewashed NZ twice in a row! But do they repeat the same in NZ's backyard? I , as a Bangladeshi fan, doubt it. Only way India can convince other neutral fans that they are #1 if they can perform outside their own den. Look at Pakistan and Sri Lanka, both teams are pretty much capable of perform outside their own den, but still they are not #1 or #2.
Well, well..India never played like #1 ODI team [at least based on the skewed rankings] NOR India played like #1 Test nation [at least for that one year] when they played against South Africa recently! We are, in general, a COMPLACENT Team! sit on our laurel or on rankings given by some obscure stats! Rohit and Dhawan got the reality check! They played like KINGS in India but have no clue! I have always said, let us bring BADRI and PUJARA into the Indian XI for ODI..we need these classy batsmen into the team..if at all we have the urge to defend our WORLD CUP ..or for that matter to reach any level in ODIs!! I really feel for BADRI! such a classy batsman and repeatedly ignored by the selection committee!! #1 ODI team and 0-4 in NZ....please give me a break!
I think india should learn to win out of india as well India is a strong team with great super stars at home but why these superstars of world cricket fail on the pitches outside india is very heart breaking thx
congrats NZ ! They absolutely nailed india. having said that team india & fans will be disappointed but they should not be disheartened. For most of the team, it was a learning curve. they might have learned few lessons. but still there's lot of quality in this team & they r not as bad as the score-line suggests. India need to believe in themselves. Remember in 2002, a similar star studded team led by Sourav ganguly lost 5-2 ODI series & 2-0 test series. but they still made it to final of 2003 WC. So v need to have faith in this team.
I think MSD should no more be eligible to be captain after his repeated failure as a captain on field. I am very impressed with the captaincy of Brenden Mcllum eg. when an Indian hit a ball, it goes straight to the NZ fielders but when NZ hit a ball there are no Indian fielders to stop it. Well done Brendon, you proved what captaincy is all about. It is not just about this tour, MSD could have learned these things earlier from George Bailey & AB Deviller, but I think MSD do not want to learn and fails again and again in his job. I can't see any sharpness, innovativness, creativeness in his captaincy , so I think he should give up captaincy and play as a best wicketkeeper finisher in the Indian Team. The time has come when Kohli should take over. I request ESPN crickinfo team to please pass on this message to the selection committee. Also I recommend that the New Sensational Talent "Sanju Samson" should be the part Indian Team for upcoming tours. Thanks!!!! Narendra
It's time for the crisis-man, Dinesh Karthik! We will use him for a series, get back on our feet and discard him! I know, you know, everyone from Knows this. That poor chap!
A captain refusing to accept that the team choice is wrong and a team coach which is non existent. MSD continued to stick with Rohit Sharma, Dhawan, Ashwin and this is deplorable. MSD's ego is bigger than his bat where he refuses to instill change and accept mistakes. He prefers to sink the ship rather than make a change. These player can only play on flat pitches and turn the ball in a dust bowl. Rohit has been given more chances then even Gambhir , so there is a Godfather protecting him. Imagine MSD declaring Ashwin as a power hitter...... Ashwin is not even fit for overseas test team. Remember what happened to him in SA. He cannot take wickets and hence no pressure on the opposition. Poor Binny , hardly even got a real chance. What is Mr. Sandip Patil doing as a chairman of selection committee. It appears IPL is the international cricket for these players----show me the money and the rest doesn't seem to matter. No pride left in the current bunch!!h
Go NZ. Great win. India, you need to divorce yourself from the cancer that is the BCCI. They will kill off your side just as quickly as they will kill off the game of cricket
keep calm and dont send your team abraod India shouldnt be playing Abroad. they are not built for it.
India will be no1 in world cricket if you turn the ladders upside down. Imagine what will be the result if they play mighty Aussies!!!
Squad for WC 2015....... Gambhir, new aggressive opener (great starts) kohli, pujara (milk the middle overs) Yuvi, dhoni, jadeja (set the platform for big hitting) Irfan, (all rounder) harbhajan, shami, yadav, aaron, amit mishra, bhuvi, zaheer (if fit).
now on i am glad to inform after dis i accpect kholi with sanga, mahela, dravid, tendulkar etc world greats....he is most talented player in the world now....both bounce and flat tracks....before dis i thought he is a flat track bully...grt to see player like him...Sl fan
ICC Pls revisit ranking system and do necessary modification to reflect real facts before it become a huge joke...
Everyone is lion at their home grounds and rats at others. Can NZ beat India on their home turf? If India is a team that performs only on their home grounds then same is with others too. We beaten down Aus 4-0 though we were beaten 4-0 at their grounds. Similarly SA looks tough at their home grounds but when they arrive in India, they lost. Even the last ODI series they played here were won by India. So if Indian team is performing in their grounds and not outside then other teams having the same. Don't forget we won CT-2013 in England and same players were there. You can't blame then for one or two wrong series. They are playing too much cricket because of Hippocrates at BCCI and are mentally tired. IPL should be stopped so that they can rest and prepare themselves for WC-2015. They are humans not machines who continue to perform. IPL has made players sick.
u need solidity...bring Pujara n Manish Pandey before its too late World Cup defence ...appears only a dream never to be fulfilled n to say abut dhonis captaincy is below my dignity..pathetic...bhajji was always gd in odi ...yes he was poor in tests so why he was dropped Gambhir was poor in tests but not in ODI...we must develop three separate teams as done by Australia if we are to challenge other gd teams...selectors r u listening
these days . there is no wicket taking or attacking bowler except South Africa and Australia ,I meant big names like murali, warne, steyn . but most of team, they manage their resource right on money . I believe indian cricket team can do same as others. Dhoni should not blame to youngsters , he should always guide them . not keeping his calmness by himself . changing the bowling combination as possible till work , bring pujara to no.3 and play anchor role in odi .he can rotate the strike easily than others like what sanga is doing for sri lankan team . if one end is stable ,other end can make runs easily . winning or loosing is not problem . but we need good cricket . as my personally opinion if young batsmen should come to team. I like sanju samson taking place of Rahane or rayudu . he can play big innings . he is capable to do that. but don't push him hard . give one tour or more for him . it will be great for next 4- 6 years .
TWO of the self- created "BIG 3 VETO POWERS" were humiliated across the Tasmanian sea. the third will be going to South Africa soon. Let us wait and see. Australia is a very strong team, and normally I would have anticipated they beating SA. But I hope SA does what NZ did to my team, to show the Administrators the mirror, and show them the ridiculous nature of the two-tier system, which was further made vulgar by the irrational clauses to protect a few, with a blatant excuse of "commercial considerations"
Let me make it clear. For me the proposed rules for distribution of wealth is NOT the issue; but blatant desire to keep Monopoly Power SURELY IS! (In fact it is an oligopoly of three, cartelising global cricket)
NZ team gave an excellent riposte through the game itself. I salute them for their superb performance in every aspect of the game. While I cry in pain in seeing my team's pathetic state of affairs, and their overseas performance (despite our boys being good players)
Dhoni keeps blaming everybody but more than anybody, he is primarily responsible for the series loss. His stubbornness not to drop his favorite player any giving so many chances is just ridiculous and plain nonsense.
Even I could have made a permanent spot in the team had I got as many chances as Nohit, Raina, Ashwin or IS.
well play newzland,it is always great to see winning from a gud side!
Very glad to see indian bowling getting back on track of conceding 300+ in 50 overs & not bowling out the opposition. The bowlers didn't perform well in last couple of games because they fail to concede only 280~290 runs. LOL...
Blade_Runner : I don't know from which standards are you placing Sl higher than Pak. Lets not forget Pak is current Asia cup holder and also beat you in Dubai in december, so I don't know what other standards would be more credible than these clear cut recent ones. Even though we consider you as our cricketing brothers but lets not brag too high :) . And mind you Indians also thoroughly out performed you when ever you played against each other, So I'm not sure you can bet on your 2nd place too :p.
It is ridiculous why everyone is demanding Yuvi to come back to the team.Yuvi cannot play in overseas conditions. His technical skills are limited and he will be like a rabbit under headlights when exposed to bounce and pace.To be honest, india can win the next world cup if the sun rises in the west and goes down in the east.We have to make pitches condusive to pace bowling at the domestic level .Then only we can perform in overseas conditions. If we play on dead pitches all the time in india, then we can perform like this only outside the ubcontinent.Ganguly had a huge heart and he was able to extract sometihing from the team overseas but Dhone lacks innovation and depends only on the team.Rohit,Jadeja and Ashwin will not be selected even for playing club cricket if they are born in other countries but since they are born in india and they are friends with Dhoni, they are able to cling on to their places in the indian team.I want india to lose every match as atleast dhoni will step down...
Nz u done wonders.lol great

here we go again for india with another failed overseas tour. At least West Indies put up a harder fight in the ODI's to draw the series 2-2. nevertheless these indian batsmen need to work on their technique outside of India in order to be world dominant. credit to New Zealand this young unit is doing a fantastic job, they are motivated to win at all cost. That should be the spirit of all teams
For the test series, Dhoni should drop Dhawan & Rohit and Ishant from the last test match playing XI.
We need to play 4 pacers and 1 spinner and play Ashwin as opener-allrounder.
Openers: Vijay and Ashwin. Middle order: Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Dhoni Bowlers: Bhuvi, Jadeja,Zak, Shami, Yadav.
Ashwin can't do any worse than either Dhawan or Rohit. At least he can bowl few overs if the pitch takes some spin. Worst case is he plays as a batsman only.
Ashwin and Vijay comes from the same state team, CSK team and speaks same language so there should be good understanding of each other.
In my opinion, this is the best XI we can hope for. Even then only 3 to 4 batsmen are in some sort of test form (Pujara, Vijay, Kohli and Rahane). Others are mostly unreliable.
If possible, we should bring in DK or Gambhir for the opener role and move Ashwin to No.5/6.
Finally, we should get rid of Fletcher as coach asap. He has proven to be completely useless.
I wonder there is any space for my comment bcs its total 300+ and my comments are not published continually by Crickinfo. Well done NZ, you ppl make world eyes opened . Have any body heard of Newtons lows. Its not rite to remind the lows when some body is in bad position. Do not worry India you can bounce back if the short comings are addressed at merit. What a lot of advice to selectors & captain from the fans. 1. One suggested to appoint past captain for selection. 2. Few suggested the CSK politics affect the team selection. 3. Few suggested its batting and Bowling failure. 4. Few suggested team combination. 5. Some suggested captaincy failure. 6. Some suggested to follow their instructions to avoid stoning Doni's home after 2015 WC. 7. Few suggested to bring back out of form aged veterans. I would suggest to undestand where you are, what you are before criticizing other teams & players, You get what you deserve as Newton's low says. Be polite on field, respect others.
I think it is time for the selectors to give a chance to the most suitable player i.e. pujara who has done enough at international level also at foreign pitches he has the ability to tackel the fast bowlers better than ajinkya rahane and ambati rayudu. these 2 batsmen have struggled as if they are facing the fast bowlers for the first time in their life , i am utterly disappointed with specially rahane the slot on which he is batting is considered to be a slot where team's most dependable batsmen bats but he let everybody down, mere fielding abilities should not be criteria for ur selection if u r playing at away. At least now the selectors should should go with better technically correct batsman pujara. Hope pujara should not be in the team untill he learns how to face new ball!!!!!
Well played NZ. Well executed plans. India's preparation on the other hand have shown similarities with England's tests in Australia - both England and India doctored pitches for home series which then spectacularly backfired in overseas matches against better prepared and more determined opponents. And these are supposedly two of the big three.
I have been always telling that Rohit Sharma must be dropped and I stand vindicated. And the door is also open for Raina to move out. Dhawan can be trained to improve and he will. Like-wise Rahane too. But who cares attitude of BCCI & selectors will drown Indian team definitely. For heavens sake don't bring Yuvi etc. Enough of them. Hope Vijay also gets thrown out, so that persons like Pujara gets into our team.
@Sandasiri : "Can anyone explain me how's da damn points/rating works in order to rank ODI teams....?? why 4-0 defeat not effecting to rating that much..??" This is due to the fact that India has gathered a sizeable lead in points table by winning series after series on flat decks prepared at home, and other teams would take some time catching up given that they need to play their fair share outside their home unlike India. I hope that explains.
No one is understanding how to build the Indian team. We can replace any players, but how are they going to get experience if they are playing within India only. IPL stopped players playing for county matches. Please don't ignore Kapil, Srinath, Sachin, Dravid, Zaheer, Harbajan, VVS, Gavaskar and most of the top players played for non indian club/county to get experience/exposure. Just sitting at home these new comers will not get exposure. Don't blame them... build the team by providing right chances.... Also, we have many talents than Rohit, Raina, Ishant... Rahane, Shami etc needs grooming.. Send Shami to english county cricket instead of IPL.. That is the way you build the team....cricinfo please publish.. Indian fans please respond your ideas.
"India is settled Unit now" dhoni says before the start of the series. Now he would have realized it does not take much time to unsettle things
India needed good kick and they got it. Its a good thing and now they will be ready for 15WC. My guess is they will perform well in 15WC.
NZ has a top-notch team now. Thier No 8 ranking reflects the past. The MOST IMPROVED TEAM in 2013 is undoubtedly NEW ZEALAND. Their rapid ascendancy looks well planned and executed. India seem to lack both-- Planning & Execution.
I will put less blame on the players. Most of the blame should be reserved for the men converted cricket into a business, and incompetent coaching.
So much for No. 1 team; can not even compete with no.7 team away from home! I think ICC should re-consider their rating system for ODI & Test. Only 50% of home games should be counted towards the rating system for each team in my opinion. India should be very much worried for the next WC; with this team I see their exit after 1st round. They r just bit better than Bangldsh & Zimb away from home. Desperately need 2 new openers; R. Sharma & Dhawan r way too slow, waste the 1st pwrplay overs & put too much pressure for the next batsmen....Just my 2 cents...
Dhoni is well known for thinking out of the box. Here is a suggestion for him. Why not play 11 batsmen in the team, and no bowlers? In all the overseas games played since our SA tour, our bowlers have given on the average 300 runs per game. If we play no bowlers, will it get any worse than this? Lolz!!!
Dhoni always put blame on someone. Most occasions on pacers, but he never spoke against Ashwin, the biggest overseas blunder!!!! Today as well ,when Kohli and Dhoni were in the middle,Dhoni put a lot of pressure on Kohli by playing dot after dot. Finally Kohli gone for wild swing in pursuit of boundaries and holed out.Dhoni ended up at 47 off 72 balls.Poor by his standards. Also in middle overs Dhoni never look for wickets. Dhoni is big failure as skipper on seamer friendly conditions. He fears to field 4 pacers because of possible slow over rate. argh...
yuvraj is a failure. he can't do nothing if he ever came back. his career is over
Dhoni,s cheap favouritism is backfiring. His companions like Aswin, Rohith, Jadeja and Ishanth have been given too many chances. Had as many chances been given to players like Yuvraj, GAMBHIR, Sehwag, Pathan brothers and so on, they would never have been omitted from the team. And most of Dhoni's blue-eyed children are expected to retain their places and will be given chances until they fire against Bangladesh or Kenya. Go ahead, best of luck.
Lets not be in a denial...There is an urgent need to revamp Indian team...As far as bowling is concerned, Ashwin's performance in ODI has been very disappointing both in terms of wickets and runs conceded..Even Ishant has been given an extended run and bhuvi has to improve quickly...For batting, keeping World cup in mind, i think Gambhir has to come back in opening slot. We also have to rethink about Rohit as an opener..May be karthik and few other player is to be injected in middle order depending on forms in IPL...But we cannot be adamant and rigid that our team is ok for WC..
@ Sreesam : "This team knows how to perform outside India ". Now seriously am I reading this in full consciousness or are you the one who has lost consciousness while writing it. Dude open your eyes to the fact that your team is wondering outside India for past 4 months and hasn't one a single Odi and would have been miserably whitewashed in both series, had it not been for divine intervention like rain and jadeja heroics. admitted that you must be optimistic but there is a fine line between optimism and living in fools paradise.
Glad this series happened now so that it serves as an wake up call for the team before the world cup in Aus & NZ. Drastic change needs to be done in the team. Puraja has to be in as an opener ( for sure he could be the next Hashim Amla) and drop both the sharma for ever (just for his carelss attitude for so many yrs). Send Shami, B.Kumar, U.Yadav, V.Aron and other fast bowlers back to training to get the basics right as they are only set of fast bowlers we have for the WC. BCCI should start focusing on the game than thinking about the big bucks.
A team filled with flat track bullies playing on a non-flat track: Soo predictable.
India's One Day International records
total played 844 win 423 lost 378 tie 6 N/L 37 wining P/C 52.78%
Pakistan's ODI records
total played 812 win 434 lost 353 tie 8 N/L 17 wining P/C 55.09%
Bcci should include a provision in the proposed paper for Icc revamping that team Indis will only play "home series" and all future matches of World cup /world t20 involving team India should be played on indian soil to give "fair" and equal chance to India
During last 12 ODIs, Indian bowlers have conceded 30i0 odd runs. No team can can chase down 300+ scores in dozen consecurtive matches successfully.
Bcci should include a provision in the proposed paper for Icc revamping that team Indis will only play "home series" and all future matches of World cup /world t20 involving team India should be played on indian soil to give "fair" and equal chance to India
Congratulation NZ! I enjoyed the annihilation! Why is when I read the individual views of people in respect of a series involving India, I always see Indian fans making excuses and selecting 'Team India'. The fact is, irrespective of the status that Indian cricket enjoys in terms of fan numbers and all the frills and bows that go with this, India will always remain ordinary, very ordinary. Its recent performances both in NZ and SA confirm this! But for the ist SA v. Idia test, with India's last SA tour, pitches were actually tailor-made for India to win. Yet we all know what happened! India must walk the talk!
Can anyone explain me how's da damn points/rating works in order to rank ODI teams....?? why 4-0 defeat not effecting to rating that much..??
BCCI-Please sack Duncan fletcher and bring in Andy flower as the new couch with immediate effect.
England has done a favour by sacking their most successful coach.
At the same time, please get rid of nohit and ishant permanently from all formats.
Totally outplayed by NZ, India should concentrate more in their in pitch performance,it is really laughable No 1 team losing 4-0. NZ really turn it down after whitewashed in BD.
It is a great that india looses this way.Because they were clearly over confident about themselves and purely overrated .Their overconfidence brought them this misery.Indian fans simply donott know to praise the winners and have heaps of excuses.Because of the famous thing that They love indian cricket not CRICKET..How away india are One match away from longest win less streak of ODI in history of indian cricket..Now the world got to know what is the talent of india after they flew out from their den.... Fully exposed.....
Isn't is this just perfect? Well played NZ.
dhoni is a lucky captain more than a good one. it was his luck that the worldcup 2011 was played in his country. A world champion is one who performs whatever the conditions are!! not the team like India who score 350 like 150 on home ground & gets blanked when it is away matter. such rare cases are champions trophy 2013 when they won clinically without a loss! but consistency is the core ingredient to being a champion . & India have failed in that miserably!
Dhawan,Rohit,Raydu,Rahane should be kicked out. What is the use of ashwin as a spinner. He has no aggression to take wickets.I think Harbhajan is better than him.So bring back yuvi , DK and Gautham.also find an agressive opener. Replace Ashwin by Parves rasool or someone who can bat also.
These results are a huge kick to of all those who forced Sachin Tendulkar to retire HASTILY...he should have played till 2015 World Cup..IN AUSTRALIA & NZLD...at the least....This is NOT sentiments or emotions for the God of cricket....but Realistic & Pragmatic facts..... When at least 2 to 3 batsman are failing consistently...what harm was there in playing Sachin ...What the team would have got back was infinite...1.a world class batsman averaging near 50...2.experience of 22 years...3..worlds best batsman for free as BATTING CONSULTANT...4..a confidence booster & calmness giver for the dressing room 5..Sachin taking the scrutiny & limelight off others...6..opposition still fearful & wasting energies on how to get Sachin out leaving others peacefully....7..a crowd puller for empty stadiums...8..a interlocutor between players & board...He saved Harbhajan & Sourav!!... The emphasis is... THIS Indian team, especially the batsman were not prepared for Sachin's retirement...
If mediocre players like Ashwin,Raina,Ishant & Rohit are persisted with...India don't have a chance of making quarter final in next year's World Cup let alone semi or final ...Nothing said of Rohit & Raina better it is.... I dont understand why is Dhoni persisting with Ashwin who has picked only 1 wicket since SA Odis....he needs to understand he is not leading CSK but Indian team...time has come to recall all the seniors back & start all over again with only a year left for the World Cup and changing the captain for Asia Cup - Kohli the new boss
Well played New Zealand. Keep up the good work. India you deserve this. you have been very lucky all this time and naturally when you are done with the luck the real talent would expose. This shows how much of talent India have in the team apart from Kholi who can be ranked among AB, Sanga, Cleark, Amla and Mahela.
Bcci should include a provision in the proposed paper for Icc revamping that team Indis will only play "home series" and all future matches of World cup /world t20 involving team India should be played on indian soil to give "fair" and equal chance to India
Shehwar Hossain - Not sure why you are laughing about people questioning Bangladesh's cricket standards. Bangladesh have played 82 Test matches for 4 wins (2 v WI & 2 v ZIM), 10 draws (3 v ZIM & 2 that would have been losses if not for rain - 1 v IND & 1 v NZ) and 68 losses.
While Bangladesh is a relatively new Test nation (an interesting example of contrasting the jet age with the days of travel by ship is that NZ were into their 39th year of Test cricket before they played 82 Tests), I fail to see how Bangladesh's record is one worth bragging about.
whaatever is said the fact is that India does not fare well overseas except few matches so pse accept this fact sooner the better
Well played New Zeal and and thanks for white washing and showing that India is only powerful on TV not against a good team like New Zealand. These rankings are totally Flawed otherwise, India and England should be at the bottom of it.
its good that india lost this so badly. at least let this be a wake up call for the captain and the selectors. and being a die jard indian , I am in no shy to say india never deserve their number one ranking. how could some win their matches with batsmen alone.. and a team who isn't able to pick up even the tail enders wickets cant be standing at the top of ranking. lucky we have dhoni and kohli or else results wud hav been even worse. kohli def is an other level batsman, any team would be proud of.
CONGRAT to NZ. Time has come to appoint KOHLI as CAPT.
Congrats NZ! They are doing very well recently. Shame on you Team India. World No1, now 2, what a joke.
Everyone said Shikhar and Rohit is going to change the outlook of Indian team and they are the future. But, the true cricket lovers knew they were missing something that our old openers (Sachin, Ganguly, Sehwag) had.
I remember a time (96-97), Indian batting was Sachin and sometime Azhar. Now, it is Kohli and Dhoni. Then, Dravid came in. After his arrival, we know someone is there to save. Now, it's time for Pujara to take that role.
@scarrule Really? The champions trophy was an ICC event and that usually means it has flat tracks thanks to the BCCI which almost rules ICC. A close match vs SA isn't worth anything unless you have the results in your favour. NZ is a great team and did very well but their rankings speak against these recent performances. 7-0 is your recent away record or is it more than that? Meanwhile Pakistan has never been whitewashed in a 5 match series across all formats. That's more than you can say huh. I am not trying to say that India is a bad team but let's not say its better when we haven't had a long series against each other since forever it seems. A few ICC matches don't speak anything. SA haven't won any ICC silverware but would you disagree that they are the best test team in the world?
Calling India a tier 2 team is the most stupid comment. We just won the Champions trophy outside India in England without losing any match. So this team knows how to perform outside India. England lost a test series 5-0 in Aus, so it means it is also a tier 2 team? Newzland is always a tricky place to bat due to swing. Even our best batting unit has failed here. But this line up did a better job than all our past teams because we came close to chasing 300 few times here. The problem is our bowling is so weak, we cannot concede 300+ in Newzeland conditions. Clear fail of our bowling
Well played NZ you have some real good players . As for India , it is high time to take seriously overhaul the entire team except kohli . Dhoni should not be captain as his selection of team is most biased . Indian cricket has bleak future if drastic measures are not taken immediately
Why was Binny dropped after only one game while Dhonis favorites, Raina, Ashwin and Jadeja kept getting this extended run? An obvious case of favoritism. Why not play Mishra, Binny, Yadav and Pandey in this game? Atleast we could have seen what they are capable of. Now they will be dropped from the team for no fault of theirs.
@scarrule Lol,that seem to burn. Drubbing it certainly was, when you get pasted in the first 2 matches of a 3 match series and barely win the last one i certainly like to think it's a drubbing of the highest order. The most hilarious site was Dhoni going mad with relief and Joy jumping around the whole park when India was barely able stop the 3 nil rout.
Why India can't just oil in their own machine rather than disturbing others?
now whole world know, who are the real flat track bullies. india may have money, power to be shake the cricketing world. but there are lots of overestimation of their players. at the moment their only reliable player is MSD. others are completely flop. after zaheer khan they not have single recognizable pacer.
Don't worry Sikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma; come back to India then score centuries, double centuries and triple too. Then including selectors will forget about your abroad performances and again they will select for next tour and everybody will say oh they come back in form. But they can play only in India. (So many option in batting and bowling even though only these players, very poor selection) !!!!! .
Most of the comments are asking for old players to comeback to team who are not even performing in Indian domestic level. Indian batting unit has done a good job this series. 3 out 5 matches they bought close to the target as possible. Just 1 failure in this match, rest all cases we were chasing more than what the pitch called far. Batting unit needs Pujura, I cannot find any reason why he is out of this side. Second strike rotation by taking singles has not at all improved. cannot understand with all these young legs, why can't we run many singles? Bowling coach is needed to comeup with a bowling plan. It is very evident that our bowling unit has worked without any plan. If Mculam can bowl 10 tight overs by bowling to the field, why can't better spinners like Ashwin and Jadeja do the same. Proof that there is no plan. I don't think we have better faster bowlers in team now, we just need a coach who can make this existing unit click.
So Rayudu was Raina's replacement?? LOL . Atleast Raina doesnt waste too many balls. Rohit,Rayudu must be kicked out . Bring back Gambhir and Pujara. Regarding fast bowlers it will always be the same because we dont have a world-class pacer.
interesting to note that in the NZ WI series much was to be said of the Windies and their trials and tribulations. Now NZ handed out a drubbing to India, not much is being said...Go Figure...
@elvis57 - As Mark Richardson and I and numerous others have observed, Indians do not really like cricket, they like Indian cricket. They look inward when they lose and make excuses instead of giving praise and being gracious. It is the same, must be in our control', everything in our domain attitude the BCCI have in assuming with 1.3 billion people and oodles of cash that it was in THEIR hands to beat us & own cricket... but you were outplayed, out-thought, out-led, out-bowled, out-fielded and, unbelievably ( to you) out-batted and out-hit. A comprehensive 4-0 spanking. Dhoni gave huge credit during the trophy presentation to the Black Caps but I feel this was too little, too late - and an exception to the rule of ignorance and navel-gazing. That is actually why you lost... you overestimated yourselves and underestimated us. Lessons learned? Only by those admitting you were beaten by a better team. That was the lesson. For the billion plus that missed the memo.... Your welcome *-)
before the tour,Dhoni said that it is a balanced team...:D A balanced team is losing all matches....its really funny and shame....This NZ team played against Bangladesh and BD won all matches. :D
Dhoni before the start of the series:'India now a settled unit'...how much these self-proclaimed champs brag of themselves!
Here is a whole new team for India (overseas ODIs): Pujara, Karthik, Kohli, Rayadu, Dhoni, A Nayar, Irfan Pathan, Jadeja, Shami, Aaron, Pankaj S.
how shame full for India..how can they lead world if his team lose the contentiously world # 8 ranked team...
It's high time that BCCI must organise cricket tour overseas
I wish to watch indian quality of cricket at home, overseas as well.. Even if you loose 3-4 series from now on. It enables us to find the capabilities of individuals who are not only good at home but abroad as well...
Dhoni and kohli are good so far!! We need to find 9 more players who perform consistently!
BCCI needs to groom youngsters before the next world cup and this is the right time!!
Rasool will definitely be worth a try ..
Its really a tough time for not only team india but supporters also. To somebody, who just enjoys the beauty of cricket he must be a man full off happiness after witnessing such a series in which the underdogs presented themselves as dominant. I can do nothing but feel for Dhoni. Yes you are preety good captain, incomparable batsmen but one thing you need to know is you can not win the match with only the person form CSK performing. I wonder if Ajanta mendis finds a partner in Ashwin for not having any magic left.Funny is the situation when you are chasing 300 oddd runs and your opening duo is taking at least 20 balls aeach to ipen the account as if they were sent all the way to NZ to spend the vacation. Name only is not enough in cricket, Rohit sounds preety, Shikhar sounds as high as Everest, Rahane new name, might have though that he will get some mercy form NZ attack because of being new in the cricket but that is not the basics of the cric buddy. I guess Ipl alone is best for you
in SA you lost 2-0, in NZ you lost 4-0. you lost to ENG and AUS as well. in last 10 tests, india have lost 9. this is world champion team. i think when propsing big 3 draft, BCCI forgot to add a point that india would only play at home so that they always win and stay on top of ranking. ohh they still have a chance. once draft will be approved, BCCI can simply so NO to playing abroad because all series will be decided on bilateral terms.
To all who are trying to salvage MSD. No captain before MSD ever got such a backing of BCCI and such a loud say in selection matters. People should know that Amarnath 1983 WC hero was due to become head of selection committee but actually got sacked because he wanted to sack MSD as test captain after 8-0 drubbing in Eng and Australia. So my point here is, if you have so much authority then you should also have courage to take responsibility. Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvi, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Praveen, Munaf, Pragyan and promising youngsters like Parvez Rasool, Shahbaz Nadeem etc are not there in 11 because MSD does not want them. Stuart Binny's debut was just wasted so how can lack of talent or experience be blamed for this fiasco. MSD's own record is good that's because he did n't prefer to face the fire in any of those matches instead preferred to bat lower down the order consistently so that he could easily hit McCullums, Williamsons and Neeshams to score big and maintain his own average.
First of all...well played Kiwis; deserving winners of the series. As far as Indian team is concerned, they're just going through the rough patch, no doubt they're a great team but alas the tag of "Lions at Home" has been pasted with them which is a reality. If India needs to justify being the number 1 team (previously) and specially to claim being one of the BIG 3 of Cricket; they must prove their mettle all over the globe not only at home. Most importantly, the team's performance all over the world should be the criteria for being the BIG, not only the size of the country or board's powers!
Again...awesome game Kiwis...Hope you thrash India in tests too and give them a lesson to learn!
@hyder rehman... Talking of drubbing. Then how can u forget the drubbing ur team took from exactly the same team in most recent champions trophy which is unable to win a single match. That means ur team is far worse than this. Talking of drubbing u gave us , i can hardly call it a drubbing winning 2-1 with so close matches is not drubbing its having ur day.!! Nd so u'll about our FTB's. Let me tell u. These FTB gave SA the most toughest fight SA ever faced in last 5 years in a test series in there ur own backyard. FYI top 3 highest scorers were indian against the world's best bowling attack. In contrast ur team bundle out for 50 runs against same team now this is what shows who are FTB's,
I believe over the next 2-3 years, people will not be speaking as if losing against New Zealand is a fluke, or as if the team should of beaten lowly NZ....we possibly have the best batting line up in world cricket...our bowlers are future legends...the potential of the side is starting to be realised.
@ Sundar rangan : Problem is not what India has achieved against Pakistan in previous WC but the problem is how is India gonna repeat the same performance against Pakistan in WC 15 with this team. So thats why your Indian brothers are worried here in their comments and suggesting their honest opinions in order to see their team rise unlike you who is living in fools paradise. I dont wanna make this thread an Ind Pak fight fest even though I feel Hyder Zaman is correct in stating the fact that who would account for the drubbings in between those once in 4 year matches. Cric info pls post
India proved why there should be two tier cricket. Because India is tier 2 team while playing outside India.
Alas India ! Our cricket politics at ICC cannot win your matches at ground
I really like this young Indian team; but I think that the arrogant behaviour of their administrative bosses in world cricket is paying off dividends in retribution, and with hot haste too! These results in South Africa and New Zealand are not a true reflection of the ability of this team - it's divine intervention to remind some of us that we must be humble even when we are successful!
@ Home_Highway_Tigers ; Why don't go 'n check S Rajesh's " numbers game" article ? You will see which is the best subcontinental team. Its Sri Lanka. :)) Sri Lanka is the best Asian team followed by Pakistan. Thank you very much. :)
Congrats New Zealand. I am happy. BCCI knew india team not good team so they will loss money from sponser thatsway they are trying new formula where small team will die. india will live lifetime. india will loss always now. they are not best team
Further to my previous comment. In each match when Kohli played well while chasing. There was a point where if Kohli wanted to chase down the total then he had to score more then 150. There is no cricketer who can do that in three matches of a five match series, No player. Even Indians are expecting that from Kohli. Now thats plain ridiculous. Some are also stating some conspiracy theories. Awesome!
india surely will win the test series 2 - 0 no doubt they will retain the world cup 2015.go india go we will be there with u
newzealand have a very bright future..
Everyone seems to be complaining about India...how about some praise for NZ?
Its CSK Vs NZ instead of India vs NZ.I just give you one example of R. Ashwin. Against S.Africa & NZ Ashwin has taken only two wickets in both ODI & test. Still he is there in the team because a member of CSK.While there is Amit Mishra who has taken 17 wickets in previous series. They also not included Pragyan Ojha in the team after he got 10 wicket match haul. This is simple .If they get chance & take wicket , the chance of Ashwin will dimnished.
Batsmans are spending lot of deliveries in name of getting settle. But they neither get settle nore score quick, lose wicket after wasting too many delivery whole the series . Rahane looked a worse player than Ishant sharma who tries to support the other batsman by staying as much minimum time he can. I am disappointed about Dhawan, Rohit , Raina . But they played better than Rahane. Rahane was really the culprit in weakening the middle order. Nobody is saying about him. He is the worst player of the team should be dropped right now before scoring a 50 or 90 in not winning condition to make promise but wasting more. Really he is not as talented as out form all dropped players.
Welldone India, You truly deserve to lead the World Cricket...Because u play so well in your backyard....
BCCI's next step in line to tighten their grip on World Cricket: Opponents cant have bowlers who can make trouble for Indian Batsmans
Hey hey dont hurry guys, we just have 3 problems there! Opening batting, number 4 and 5 and the whole bowling of us. I think it can be sort out. I think this series gives us more lessons. Especially the bowlers must work hard and batsman like rohith and dawan also have to think and work hard to suit to the conditions, we cant blame dhoni always, yes he made some mistakes, but he is a real leader. Especially in o.di cricket, we won cb series and chambions trophy and won 2 matches in south africa last time we won windies triangular cup in overseas, please stop calling home champs, even all the countries struggled in various conditions. We still a great team with some great players and gread leader. The should a learning curve for us for the world cup, and also we have two test matches against them. And surely if we bowl well, we can won that test match and shut many peoples critics.
Alarm bells should be ringing in the Indian team. The bowling is shambolic, as New Zealand consistently scored 300 plus. The top order batting is inexperienced to handle outside conditions. The point is India inability to play outside their comfort zone. The away form is wretched. 4-0 in one day series against New Zealand sums it up. The confidence and momentum are favouring the Kiwis, who have so far outplayed a sorrow Indian team and show an impressive form in one day cricket. There is plenty for Indian team to sort out for the test series if they want salvage anything from this tour. Things are not looking good for the Indian team at present. I am worried the team is heading for another bad patch, when things looked good at one point.
well played tayor nd willamson
India should visit Bangladesh to make their better ranking
Shame on India ...they are not worthy of no 2 even. At first Indian players should be trained on their attitudes and behaves. How to be modest and decent in the field. Still I can remember the attitude shown by Shekhor Dawan to Shane Watson in last series in India. They should work on it otherwise more shameful event is waiting them in near future.
Very hard to fathom how NZ are ranked 8.
I see my own countrymen asking that when Kohli won the game for India outside India while chasing. This is just laughable. Ofcourse he has very few such innings and that also against teams like SL. However if you are expecting that Kohli scores more than 150(not even a century) that would be more than half of Indias total and win matches then it would be ridiculous. Well Non-Indians I don't expect anything else from them but bashing. But Indians should at least comment using sense.
Is this a dream world champions losing 8 matches on the dot, latest being against a team that has never made it to the finals and placed much lower. Something is wrong with the ratings in particular and cricket in general. It really needs revamping. I am smelling a parallel WCC and death of ICC.
@Little Cuzzy Bro's from across the ditch - THANKS! (From Oz - new #1s in ODIs)!!!!!
Thinking 'we are the best and underestimating all others are minnows' gives results like this. India is is a good young unit but they still have a long way to go to be 'unbeatables' (If they think they can be). When England thrashed IND in own den few months back, IND could soon come back with strong answers. That's what they are supposed to do now than covering up the face.... just like this NZ unit who were 'Bangalawashed' a few weeks ago have come back strongly. Home or away is not a huge problem, it's all about quality of cricket that you play.
Big3 cant win a single match outside their home after getting Big3 status India should be allowed to play 13 players and two innings for any two batsman no limit for bowlers and opponent team should have to score 50 more runs than India to win the match if chasing and minus 50 runs of their total if they bat first and no series should be out of India however if after all these favors India lose the match than ICC should not recognize that match as official match after all India is BIG3. SHAME ON ICC and INDIA
India should play to their strengths. They should play 7 batsman and 4 bowlers. Pujara should get a look in
Mesbah Uddin Ahmed "his is the same NewZealand team that struggled against Bangladesh!" err no it isn't. In the ODI series there was no Ryder, Guptil, Williamson or Rochi. To all those Bangladesh fans jumping on the band wagon, have Bangladesh ever won a game of any kind, even against a NZ domestic team in New Zealand?
I dont understand why people are crtitsing Dhoni. If others are not performing it is not his mistake.
The good spinners that India has are tailor made for their own tracks. But where the team really looses out is in the remaining bowling department and that is pretty shambolic as their overseas record shows.
India never produces great fast bowlers whereas every other major country has. WI, AUS and SA are though known for good fast bowlers but even neighbouring Pak and SL have managed to produce some good ones like Imran, Wasim Waqar, Chminda Vaas, Malinga.
To put a little perspective on why India never produces a great fast bowler is to consider Indian psyche in terms of cricketers, upcoming youngsters as well as supporters. Having produced great batsmen from Gavasker to Tendulkar to Kohli & Co, Indians start to hero worship them. And when such batsmen become demigods, everyone yearns to emulate them; be it a budding cricketer or a hero worshiping fan who loves his batsman and his stats. Why become a toiling fast bowler then on docile pitches? And, herein lies the problem.
They should bring gautam zak and pujara in the team. dont know why rahane is playing at nos 4. He should open the batting. He struggles at nos 4. If he comes opening he can play freely, but when he comes at nos 4 he is under pressure as the asking rate goes up.
NZ Have now one one day series against India, South Africa and West Indies in the last year. Our one day squad beat any one on their day. Surprised we are not further up the rankings.
Sundar rangan : Such is the agony that you have started comparing your under 19 team for bit of salvation. . seriously dude who watches Under 19. I don't know the name of our captain even. And as long as WC games are concerned they are once in 4 years and what about the drubbing in between them that you keep getting from Pak with the most recent one being at your own home.
@PPL11, y r u angry. ur memory is also short buddy. in the same tournament, bangladesh kicked u out also in d first round. u forget Pak beat u at home in series when u r champs. Pak a six number team and beat s.africa at their home. hahaha Pak will not lose like that in nz. it can 3-2 or 2-3. not a drubbing 4-0. u need to perform better than others bcz u r champs. and also want more money.
Sundar@! Shame you say you play with cubs! These are million dollar babies too big for their age and shoes who have been thrashed in every corner of the world! Even if they win the World Cup in. 2015 it won't help heal this embarrassment! Not just ODI all three formats India has been thrashed away from home! Well done BIG 7!
the top team in the world(at least thats what they think) hammered by an ordinary Kiwi side and people talking of Two Tiers.....
o well... being number one mean you should be numbrr one everywhere not only at home!! congrat New Zealand. ...
Has India still need a conformation where they actually belong to,,, or they still wana be in the company of P3, and live in illusions?
Gambhir,Pujara, Bhajji, Yuvraj & I.Pathan should be in Indian Team. Talent wise they are far better than many present members.
They also proved that they could play in fast pitches also. =>After the inclusion of Gambhir our top order would be strong. =>Yuvraj will come very handy in slog overs by his power hitting ability specially in short balls. He is proven best player to play fast bowlingin any where in the world. => Pujara will help to strong relaibility of our batting line up. he can build solid foundation for lower order to power hitting. => Bhajji would enhance our bowling attack, with Jadeja they both will be able to attack oppositions. =>Zaheer would add experience in our bowling line up.
Oh. im really sad about indians.. dont you have any excuses? oh come on..
Dhoni FYI : The captaincy will not work always if you with below average team. See the below wining formula
1. Good captaincy + good team => 95% Success + 5 % Luck 2. Good captaincy + Avg: team => 60% Success + 40 % Luck 3. Good captaincy + Below Avg: team => 5% Success + 95 % Luck 4. Poor captaincy + Below Avg: team => 1% Success + 99 % Luck
Now Indian team stand at 4 position. I think all of you are agreed this.
India will always loose outside India because they r lions at home lambs abroad... simple as that
Make Ganguly as Selection committee chairman or Coach.. All problems will be solved.. :)
Dhoni and Srinivasan are ruining this Team.. Someone need to do a peacefull protest beside Dhoni's house to show him that Indians are very angry with his politics..And ask him throw Ashwin,Raina,Ishanth and Rohit out of the team...There is no use of throwing stones at him after we losing World cup 2015..Prevention is better than cure.. by a dhoni fan from Kerala
If the team i support wont consistent i would moan but i cant understand the indian fans over the last few months or lets say the last few tours their team has been very consistent and yet they not happy what more can you ask of your team?????? let these so called superstars go back to IPl and let them play on flat tracks they all are just flat track bullies. ICC has tried so hard to make the indian team and their fans happy by changing the rules every year yet india cant win i have even lost count how many matches have india lost all i can say that you have got the record for a team for conceding more then 300 plus runs have ICC got an award for that if not you should be given that shame on the selectors for picking this team team for WC 1 shewaq 2 gambir 3 Robin uttapa 4 d kartit 5 raina 6 y patahan 7 i patahn 8 harbajan singh (c) 9 balaji 10 ishant sharama(VC) 11 a dinda murli kartik prthivy patel maunaf patel zack can be the subs this team can show more fight then the current one
best wishes kiwis..great series .... poor india respect to other countries and post comments here
Pain for India, its fans, BCCI, continues even BCCI is seeking its pound of flesh of the business named Cricket. NZ have played exceptionally well. No need to find excuses or no need to blame few players in India team. It has been a collective failure. BCCI, India and Dhoni should learn that NZ has done this on sporting tracks not on flat ones but on good pitches which has done a bit for bowlers and batsmen. The experience here is going to help the India team in the long run. But it won't last if we keep doctoring pitches to turn from ball one, let alone from day one when teams visit India. The fact is such pitches can be disastrous for our own team. Most of the other teams have at least won one or two games and some like Aus have even won a series overseas. But this is happening with India because there is too much focus on preparing rank dustbowls for Tests and flat tracks for ODIs when playing in India.
Pathetic showing by a so called powerhouse of world cricket. Money does not buy talent! This is the same NewZealand team that struggled against Bangladesh!
NZ tier'd them a new 1 . . . HAHAHA
Well Played NZ. After i saw the tie i thought India will level the series 2-2 but once it was 3-0 it was only a matter of time before we get a nice thumping. Everyone here is asking for our bowlers to be sacked but let me turn the table here and say that its the batting which has let us down. Only Dhoni and Kohli deserve to be playing. I hope everyone else including Rohit, Dhawan, Rahane, Rayudu, Raina etc should be kicked out. Every time they got start they got out. Umpteen times they get out cutting. Absolutely slow start from openers and i see no intent from Rohit to play positive. I have never seen such pathetic opening pair for India. Openers were our strength. They playout 10 overs for 20 runs and then expect others to do everything. I always thought leaving Yuvi was a big mistake and i still think so. Instead of giving Rayadu and Rohit chances, we should give Yuvi 10-15 matches to play. We need him for WC to chase down scores. Our middle order is so fickle. I MISS SACHIN.
my team fr worldcup in Aus.. Gambir, Dinesh karthik, pujara, virat, yuvi, dhoni,Rasool, irfan, shami, varun, zaheer, jadeja, praveen kumar, dinesh karthik, binny, umesh yadav..this is best team and no one can argue with it..
My playing XI would be: 1. Gambhir, 2. R.Sharma, 3. V.Kohli, 4. C.Pujara, 5. Y. Singh, 6. M. Dhoni, 7. R. Jadeja, 8. I. Pathan, 9. H. Singh/ U.Yadav, 10. M.Shami, 11. Z.Khan Other Four would be: 12. Ashwin, 13. S.Raina, 14. B. Kumar, 15. U.Yadav.
I will choose from Bhajji & Yadav only 1 ,it will depend upon the pitch sitution.
Such a shame, Well this shows india can only gain their number 1 position while playing at home only.... their record outside home is terrible, So you dont deserve to be in BIG 3 to be honest, rest of the team in BIG3 perform home and away very well..... but its only INDIA who always lose brutally while playin away .. !!!
Hello Mr. Hafees Rahman, remember our under-19 thrashed your under-19 in the Asian cup final in your favourite ground of Abu Dhabi. So, mind your tongue and also remember all the thrashings we have given you in various world cups, including the latest in England in Champions Trophy! We are presently playing with a team of cubs but will be back in world cup 2015 like lions. We will meet then.
Kiwis won one day series in South Africa and England. Now they've beaten the Indians at home. Looking like a pretty strong side
What was Dhoni trying to do today? He is the biggest hitter in the indian lineup and yet he thinks Ashwin and others should slog away and he will take singles and keep his average up.I was a fan of Rohit sharma and wanted him to somehow continue in the team but i feel he should be given the boot and some one new should be tried. Talent without performance and result is nothing. Dhoni's captaincy has always been defensive and stubborn. Why he is still continuing with Ashwin is unfathomable... Ashwin is an excellent cricketer in sub continent pitches but his average is very very bad outside SC.They need to find some good spinner..someone like Kumble and Jaddu can be a back up spin bowler. Thank god Ishant is done away with.We need to make sure he does not come again in the name of Test cricket. Dhoni should be removed from captaincy. He can keep his place in ODI and T20 but not in tests.Dhoni should remember that he cemented his place by playing some swash buckling innings.
congrats kiwis.... !! its shameful that no.1 odi team has now lost 8 matches in row.... dont no wt dhoni and selectors wants to prove by keeping the same players again again.. its time to bring viru gauti zak irfan..... dont no y amit mishra nd binny is not making its place in playing 11...instead of repeated faliur of ashwin nd in cosistancy of jadeja nd
no Bond no Bolt no anderson no Bennet but story is same ...
I must admit to wanting the 'Big 3' to lose every match they play now. I was a fan of all cricket teams but I want the boards to see that bullying tactics of cash rich cricket nations does not ensure quality play by their players. There must be a way to negotiate a fair distribution of the money generated in the different countries which can also help the poorer cricket nations to help the sport grow there. It seems unfair in some ways that a player who is considered the best in the world get paid much, much less than somebody way down the order of merit!
its difficult to understand why people are panicking ? which country is performing away from home. Why so much hue and cry about flat pitches and not able to play on bouncy pitch ..Why do foreign teams falter on flat tracks and spinning pitch ...No need to panic guys ..the worry is captain not throwing out Raina, Rohit and Ishu despite so many failures.
again same story is going to start...no varon in test..ishant again. nz are giving chance to new bowlers despite winning streak but indians doing change very reluctantly...
Dhoni is responsible for this 4-0 whitewash. He kept on playing 2 spinners since SA tour, they were ineffective and took a wicket each in last 8 matches... but still Dhoni played him, because they are from CSK.
Dhoni should carry only 11 players with him. I dont think till world cup he should change the team. he is doing it right. if keep chaning players than you are demoralising them. rahane and ambati did not capitalise their chances. I think raina and yuvraj are best players in middleorder and should continue till the worldcup.
doesnot matter if we lose dhoni is the best captain and is visionary. stop giving bad comments.
It looks Like India need to call back the services of that legend Sachin to inspire confidance in the team .
i think india should play with ishant every game because all criticism is taken by him...
I jus like to see what india media gonna say about this!! They think indian team is best.. cmon on guys.. guess what now they wil say dhoni is a bad captain kholi is btr... haa haaa
hope Indian fans will no longer complain abt NZ dishing out green and bouncy pitches..this was the excuse made when NZ thrashed India 5-2 in 2002-03..all the pitches this time were great cricket pitches producing 270+ totals in every game (at least from NZ side)..this NZ team is shaping up very well and hopefully they will be in red hot form come WC 2015...i would rate NZ as one of the top contenders for WC 2015 especially as it would be played in their own backyard.. best of luck NZ.
The main problem of India team for last two tour only two batsmen carrying the load of top 7 .And same thing it happen in blowing deptt. These weak point are come to notice to whom we are playing with.SO even after slow start by NZ they still can reach 300.
Congrats Kiwis for series win and for giving a wake up call to this Indian side and the management. BCCI instead of worrying about the state of struggling team is busy dictating terms upon the minnows over revenues. Is anybody from management or even Captain MS Dhoni is willing to take responsibility of this debacle. BCCI, instead of challenging ICC can you please adhere to miseries of team India who seem so vulnerable when moving from asia.It is high time, either take extreme steps or be prepared for more humiliation.
its very unfortunate in india coz there players got a chance due to failur of others ..not due to their own good performance.
Indian bowlers always let down their batsmen
Congratulation NZ ... and best of luck .
India always try to show their haughtiness on everywhere , when they lose any game .. then they show it's their mistake . but now i hope they understand the reality and also learn from that .they should respect other team.
Cricket has a way of separating the men from boys. Money cannot do that!
I guess this was meant to happen. An eye Opener probably. Considering the current squad, I believe Raina deserves more chances as he never failed like Rohit Sharma, Rahane, rayadu, Dhawan. He was always struggling to make a big score. Take out both the Sharma's Forever from the squad. Binny is another waste, No Speed, No Real Batting Talent and No Scores in Domestic Circuit. Ashwin needs to be replaced keeping World Cup in mind as he just doesn't fit in for Australian Wickets. Best of luck to Indian Team for Test Matches and keep Playing Sharmas and Keep Loosing. :)
A totaly one sided tournament, kiwi's out played team india in all the departments, infact its the captain and the management who chanelled th defeat. Dont know what ashwin, rohit, raina, and jadeja still doing in the team. How much more dhoni wants to know about the ability, quality and talent of these players...this team can never win us a world cup again....
This series has been a lot of fun. I wish it could be a longer series.
Why blame only india every other team is the same, England lost all matches in Australia, Australia lost all matches in India, Even if New Zealand come to india the scenario will be same for them, so how come india is not a good team, we need to understand that we are in the process of re-building a younger team, and we are sure of winning when matters.
OK..how much do u agree with this line up in odi's outside subcontinent. 1)G.Gambhir 2) S.Dhawan/Sanju Samson 3) C.Pujara 4) V.Kohli 5) M.S.Dhoni 6) R.Sharma/D.Karthik/Yuvraj 7) R.Jadeja/Irfan Pathan 8) Rishi Dhawan/R.Ashwin/Harbhajan Singh 9) Varun Aaron 10) Umesh Yadav 11) Mohammad Shami
@Imran Khan - Ok Loosing 1 or 2 series will not make india No 10 outside, You guys seems suffering from Short term memory lost, Do remember India did won the champions trophy which was not played in india, india did won tri series in WI and it was also not played in india, Get Well Soon Dear!! First learn to win against Ireland and then comment here...
Being an Indian myself, I couldnt agree more...!!
Runs conceded by Team India/Wickets Taken in the last 17 ODIs from 13-10-2013 to 31-1-2014 are as follows: 304/8, 359/5, 304/6, 295/8, 350/6, 326/10, 211/10, 289/8, 263/5, 358/4, 280/6, 301/8, 292/7, 271/7, 314/10, 280/3, 303/5. Sum Total= 5100/116. That means Team India has conceded exactly 5100 runs and taken 116 wickets in their last 17 ODIs (6 against Australia, 3 against West Indies, 3 against South Africa and 5 against New Zealand). That is an average of exactly 300 runs per ODI.!!! It is a clear indication of the fact that Team India has the weakest and the worst bowling attack in international cricket at the moment. BCCI should realise that having big money does not necessarily improve the performance of Team India overseas. Indian cricket should be judged by how Team India plays oveseas and not by how much money the BCCI makes. Instead of asking for a larger share of ICC revenues, the BCCI should look at developing better pace bowlers who can succeed overseas.
India EXPOSED (this should be the headline on cricinfo today) as soon as they came out of their home. Flat track bullies 'labeled' World champion and were No. 1 ranked by beating lower ranked teams in their grounds not been able to win a single match in 2 consecutive away series. What else indian fans need more. Now stop creating hype about your team you can see where your world's "best batting" stands. This is an average batting line up like any 3rd tier or lower ranked team. And bowling....NO comments please.
I am really really happy today -- well played kiwis! This is the truth about indian cricket. That is why they wanna be big 3... they wanna make sure they never lose or atleast play outside india. tigers in home shame on you!
Team for WC'15 1. ? 2. ? 3. Kohli 4.? 5. Dhoni 6.? 7.? 8.? 9.? 10.? 11.?
its looking like 4-0 is becoming india's favorite figure to get thrashed in away series. first 4-0 to england then 4-0 to aussies and now yet another 4-0 to kiwis. Congratulations indian cricket on this new identity
This should be a wake up call for all those one-eyed India fans. India are usually good at home, but always poor away. The fact that they were, until recently, the No.1 ranked ODI side is a statistical anomaly reflecting the fact that they play more ODI cricket at home than away.
However, thats not to deny rightful credit to the Kiwi's. They'll be celebrating in Bondi tonight!
DHONI has run out of excuses. Just recently said India are improving after leavings SA. Well one thing is sure we need changes. Only Dhoni, Kohli, Jadeja and Shami are capable of playing in the ODI outfit.
India is not pathetic. In sport, you only play as well as the opposition lets you play. They have been out-thought and out-played. NZ has some fine players really hitting their straps...also some fresh, fit, young and quick bowlers. NZ is entering an era where they will enjoy a lot of success. I can understand India may want to avoid them by micromanaging the touring itinerary from here on in. Perhaps an 'elite' group that includes India and England, will, in fact be a B Division, leaving South Africa, NZ, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to fight for top status in World cricket along with Australia ( from Indian Division )
Thank God I didn't waste my time again in staying up all night to watch yet another terrible loss. Anyone would think India was the team that was 3-0 up that MSD keeps on choosing the same failed formula & which not surprisingly led to another drubbing! In a dead rubber match like this, wouldn't it have been an opportune time to also test your bench strength & give players like Binny, Pandey & Mishra a chance??? Our two spinner policy keeps on failing with both Ashwin & Jadeja against not looking effective at all, going for nearly 100 runs & not taking a single wicket! It didn't work in SA nor here in NZ, yet MSD amazingly perseveres with this! Am sure he will pick them for the Tests too. Dhawan & Rohit keep on failing - maybe Rohit could have swapped batting positions with Rahane but again nothing is done! Think MSD has become so arrogant that he thinks he knows best & so doesn't want to change anything in his failing team! Simply frustrating for us fans seeing these losses!
Congrats NZ on a hard earned series victory. At least India selected their best lineup in this match. Given the squad this was the best they could get. The only change for me would be switching Rohit and Rahane in the batting lineup. They should have played Binny for another match instead of Ashwin but such is life. Pujara has got to come in somewhere. He is obviously too good to be ignored. Dhawan/Pujara would be a perfect opening partnership.
I am now convinced that NZ has truly got their act together. This is a very very strong team. Apart from the openers everybody (batsmen and bowlers) has been in form. Williamson and Taylor are that dynamic duo that every great team needs in the batting. The bowling is deep and good so middling scores can be defended reasonably well.
Although its a bit early, based on this NZ tour and SA tour, India won't make it to the semi-finals but NZ are almost guaranteed to be there. Australia, South Africa, Pakistan and New Zealand for the last four.
Indian the no#1 paper tigers of the world.
What has happened to these players? NZ have def been in awesome form but the Ind team has been failing in a big manner. The bowling has always been weak but someday or the other the bowlers have to learn and get better. It seems the bowlers themselves know that they are going to concede 300+. In fact, a ~300 total is relieving these days else 350 has become the norm.
At the same time, there is a total lack of initiative from the openers. They kill the chase in the first 5 overs itself. NZ bowlers have bowled well to them but it still doesn't explain their crap SRs. You can't be 30/3 & 36/2 in 10 overs chasing 300+.
Rohit has to take most of the blame for this. He eats too many bowls, scores nothing then gets out playing a rubbish shot. After the CT-13 & Aus ODI series , I had said that I was still not 100% convinced about his place as an opener & now he is showing he is still in the learning mode.
Both Ishant & Rohit have wasted too much time in learning. Can't believe we lost 0-4.
Hello Drak Fruy, remember we thrashed every team in Champions Trophy in England just six months back, every team that played in that tournament! So hold your tongue. One swallow does not a summer make.
Inspite of being a longstanding MSD fan,I feel that it is time for him to give up Captaincy in all forms of the game. His own performance in one dayers has been very good(3rd fastest Indian so far after Ganguly and Tendulkar to 8000 runs) and he has a fairly good record as a Captain. However, wiith the team performing so poorly it is only fair to give someone else a chance. The job is very onerous and is likely to affect the performance of who ever gets the task.Unfortunately, the "talent" pool available, especially on the bowling front leave a lot to be desired.I cant see India turning the corner. My advise for the cricketers in to help themselves to easy money and ill gotten riches being doled out to mediocre players by the IPL.No need to work hard and play abroad in county matches and Lancashire League to hone your technique like players from other countries do.I hope I am proved wrong.
"Posted by Blade-Runner on (January 31, 2014, 8:24 GMT) Well done Black Caps !!! what a thrashing. 4-0 LOL This what I've been telling all along. The media hype neither win you matches nor make you the best side in the world. Sri Lanka is the best team from SC, then Pakistan, Bangladesh and finally India. Sad but that's the truth."
@Blade-Runner:- SL's the best team from SC. Oh really ? We have thrashed you at your home, our home, England, Australia, West Indies and we will thrash you in outer space too ! LOL ! Pak is by far the best team right now from SC. Keep crying, can't really help you out...
India is real minnow, Ireland will beat them 5 out 5 if they play outside India. Indian has worst bowling and batting is good at India and horrible outside India. Their ranking is no#1 in India and no#10 outside India.
What a myth? India has a strong batting line up.
The cricket world is happy.
India have to rebuilt their lineup. Fast bowlers are not much good. Batsmen are failing to score. What is a roal of Rayudu/Rahane in this team? neither they are scoring good score nor they are hard hitters. What about Dhavan? Dhavan is never scored big after slower start. Then why he is playing so? Just 3 players played at their best in the series : Dhoni, Kohli & Jadeja.
Well done Kiwis. You played better cricket than the opponents.Your batsmen were more superior than the star studded Indian batting lineup. Your bowlers were so accurate and the fielding was excellent throughout the series. But at the end of the day MSD has something to say and newer accepts that they were completely OUTPLAYED.........
India never deserved #1 in ODI or test cricket and now reality is setting in...get used to it.
Just further proves that so called "Team India" is just a home bully... and Team Pakistan is far better than them because their players never get to play at home but still perform far far better than Team Home Bully
Indians are No 1 side if all the matches will be played in India.
Congrats New Zealand, great series win, too good for India really in all aspects of the game. India had no answers.
Best of luck for Test series.. India should not win a single match...And dhoni and his bunnies should be fired hard....Kholi should be made captain because than only dhoni will perform better to keep his place in the team...if he was not captain than than he would have been thrown out of the team very very back....bring back Shewag and Gautam..Yuraj..Bhajji.......fire Raina..Jadeja..Ashwin..And rahane...make this replacement and see our team again will be on top...
Funny New Zealand took funny revenge of losing 4-0 with Bangladesh....:)
Dhoni you are the best captain at present we know, but that doesn't mean that you play all your politics. I am saying this because when we are going overseas we should atleast consider the seniority of the players.Better bring back sehwag and Gautham.
All this talk about Indian team not good enough, I accept that Indian team is playing terribly but let me assure u that come world cup and thse guys will be firing coz they are big match players. u might laugh at this comment now but u'll see in an years time
Is it really that the Indian batsmen are out of form? I think its a matter of lack of skill on foreign pitches, am sure as soon as they are back in India they will be 'champions' again
I think it is time to strip both DHONI & DUNCAN FELTCHER as they both have miserably failed India on every overseas trip. It will be a miracle if India wins 1 test in NZ. I wish they lose both & these 2 names are stripped of their roles. Dhoni as a player is good but has the poorest captaincy skills abroad save Champions trophy in England. There is nothing to be proud of as World No. 1 ODI team, good that too has gone now. Indians are missing Sachin & Rahul in both ODI & Tests.
Enough of Rohit, Ishant & Rayudu as they are a burden to the team be it in any version. Test playing 11 should be as follows. Dhawan, Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Dhoni, Rahane, Ashwin, Jadeja, Mishra, Zaheer & Shami. Spin is India's strength not pacemen as most of them are mediocre & club level.
Let's not forget how good nz batting was. At 41/2 I was thinking 240 would be a good score. I was right but 300 was better. But for jadeja getting a let off from Bowden nz would have had a whitewash on good pitches (no green tops, and slow and low is a thing of the past). Imagine how India would react to playing in the South Island? Or even a southerly at the basin reserve? Bring on the test matches.
@Ausie_the_Great
We thrashed you last year in the Tests, T20 and ODIs. Those were away games for you, just to be clear. You lost the Ashes in England as well. That was an away series for you as well. It's not like you deserve the No. 1 ranking either. As of now, only the Saffers hold a claim to the No. 1 ranking. Such a shame that our BCCI has gone and burned ties with them. There's so much we could learn from them, and yet... The two shining lights that remain are Kohli and Pujara. The rest had better brighten up!
...Continuing from my last post. the IPL is round the corner. So you can expect the NZ flops to fire away in those flat tracks against the mediocre medium pacers. Really, NOTHING ever changes in Indian cricket. Same old story every single time!!
Shame shame shame...Such a humiliating thrashing by No 8 ranked team to so called No 1..
India needs that position paper to be enacted very very quick.
Totally very, very disappointed our Indian cricket team who put up a very much a shabby performance & did Mr.MSD completely forgot his captaincy more adept at winning the toss but neither at winning nor at winning our hearts. The only player who fought very hard was Virat but it's very unfortunate that no one interested in staying with him & rotating the strike. With this kind of form I won't be surprized if we lose 2-0 in tests also but as an Indian I hope that does not happen, oh, God plz give us a break since we lost 4-0 to England, 4-0 to Australia & a hard fought 1-0 to SA.
The results of recent matches in SA and NZ indicate mainly one thing - the current crop of spinners like Ashwin and Jadeja are totally useless on pitches outside India. So y take them for overseas tours? Develop more fast bowlers in India by providing them with normal cricket pitches and expert in puts for making them genuine fast bowlers. This will also have the extra benefit of equipping our batters with the skills for facing quickies in any condition. Unless BCCI takes initiative in this direction Team India will remain as No.1 team in India only
Where Bangladesh just whitewash new Zealand in odi , but now India getting whitewash by newzeland , I just wonder what will happen to india if they play against Bangladesh now
To all those who are bracketing Kohli and Dhoni as the only scorers, note that there is a difference between their batting. While Kohli plays for the team opportunist Dhoni plays for the self.
Congratulations to Team NZ! An awesome performance, well deserved victory for the young lads. I had posted, before the start of the series, a white wash of Team Dhoni. Disappointed that Patil and his band of "selectors" cannot select a winning team to replace the old formula of Dhoni & Co. I reiterate - We need to remove Fletcher, Dhoni (Yes, despite his good-fortune in batting) and Patil's gang. Otherwise, we will continue to under-perform overseas.
What prevented Kohli and Dhoni from trying to go 285 all out in the 45th over than 215 in the 49th by not trying to win? There is something called nothing to lose situation. Read in the press years ago that Indian cricketers' commercial contracts have clauses on the time they spent at the crease..i won't be surprised if its true.
Taylor and Williamson take a bow. I have to go all the way back to the early 1990s (Crowe and Jones) to remember such a masterful duo in the NZ middle order. We had some good times with Fleming and Astle in the middle order but nothing as good as the sustained excellence we've had this home summer. The only thing missing is hundreds for Williamson, but you just know they're going to come.
New Zealand got almost the perfect revenge on Team India for this series: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/series/467881.html
New zealand played brilliant cricket; their partnership building whilst batting, new ball bowling and fielding were top class. They deserved to win! Excuses about the powerplay and fielding regulations need to stop being made by the indian team. Every other ODI team has adapted well to it, besides India. The team as a whole failed to perform in this series. Too much of a burden was placed on kohli, dhoni and the lower order during this series. Rohit needs to move down the order as his slow starts and lack of strike rotation are not helping the team at all. Its high time gambhir and pujara were brought into the ODI team. As for the fast bowling, there was no consistency whatsoever and the bowlers did not appear to be working to a plan. The spinners were disappointing as they failed to apply any pressure on the batsmen during the middle overs. The indian team needs to change their attitude quickly to end this losing streak.
From last 12 ODI [outside India], India won just 1, tie 1 [luckily] & lost 10 of them... So they are definitely Minnows... they should play in the 2nd tier of ODI with China, Namibia, Hongkong or Canada..
Congrats, Kiwis! Very well played! The Kiwi-wash establishes that Indian batting which is excellent at home comes across as only half as good abroad. And Indian bowling which is passable at home is again half as good abroad. As a result, overseas bowlers are able to knock out the Indian top order for very few runs again and again in overseas conditions while their batters thrash the weak Indian bowling with great ease. It is also a fact that winning abroad is a tough challenge for any team today.
Hahahahahaha this is b3 one team what a profromance showed by india grate too see loosing by 4 nill and guys u remember nz is low ranked team i think 7 and bcci want to become a ruler of cricket weldone team nz
How unfair is this? Sri Lanka ought to play New Zealand, Australia and England in world cup first round while these Indian flat track bullies only get to play South Africa! If they were in the other group they won't even make it to super 8s. And people are so eager to give all the power in the world to BCCI to control the cricket! Mark my world, India soon will stop touring overseas and demand others to visit their flat tracks and so they'll up their ranking forever too! And after getting all the power maybe they even force to host world cup in India for ever too! Indians! Don't call teams likes Sri Lanka and Pakisthan are flat track bullies, just take a look at your own team before you go insult others! Remember these kind of performances before you go insult other teams where your thoughts are not due!
Really shame on us.. No words to express.. we r heartbroken by this result... I think team INDIA over thinking on how to chase...( MANTRA: keep wickets in hand).. After all we r also a human being and v r not a super computer which can hit six 6's of an over at the last moment. I am damn sure that is reason for our failure.. At last MSD is saying play ur shots... how pathetic we are...
People are talking about new zealand will win w/c15 its n
Welcome to reality Team India ,, Big team ahh,, But don't worry, everything is in hand, soon ICC will be yours and then you will be able to control things like who to play, where to play and on what type of wickets to play on,, a team of Indian curators are packing their bags to fly out at any future Indian overseas series to prepare wickets which is now mandatory under new ICC ruling just passed by the big 3. Great future is awaiting,, welcome to the cricket under Big BCCI.
Its not that Indian batsmen cant bat on fast tracks, but they need to play more matches overseas. Instead of IPL at home they needs to conduct it one more overseas tour. Some guys needs to give a shocker to left out and visitors like Mishra, Pandey, Binny needs to be given chance,,,,Rayudu is a good resource provided he is given enough chances,,,
Don't worry Champs.. We are with you , you have given us many moments of pride as Indian and we are with you in tough times .. Hope the lessons are learned and some serious thought process put in We would come back stronger for World Cup defence next time in nz

Many questions to be answered in this shambolic series loss - should we persist with Rohit as an opener after so many failures? Is Dhawan overrated based only on his brilliant test debut on a flat Indian pitch? Why is Pujara being kept away especially considering how important technique is going to be outside the sub-continent? If M.Vijay is a good test opener and has had success in T-20s why is he not suited to one day games? If we indeed need two spinners as Dhoni believes, why has he not tried Mishra at all? Should we persist with Ashwin considering his ineffectiveness outside India? Shami Ahmed and Aaron have been profligate so isn't there a case for Ishwar Pandey / Stuart Binny especially considering Binny is an all-rounder? My first eleven for the world cup would be Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rayudu, Dhoni, Stuart Binny, Jadeja, B Kumar, Amit Mishra and Ishwar Pandey. We should have Dhawan, Rahane, Shami Ahmed and Ashwin as the other four who complete the squad.
Congrats New Zealand, great series win, too good for India really in all aspects of the game. India have no answers and are in big danger of losing the test series also.
I am a very big fan of indian cricket team. But in this tour i am really disappointed because of some poor batting by Indian Batsmen. Indians only know to play on their own soil. Out side country there batting is nothing to count on. IPL only generate money. very sad. Also i don't think so this is BIG three's plan to lose series. After losing against quality cricket this is lame excuse. New Zealand always support what Australia is doing. Best of luck India team for next assigment
This India team reminds me of the team we had in the 90's with only One man Sachin taking the whole of the batting burden ( now its Kohli ). The bowling was toothless when playing outside India. ( same is the situation now). It was only after the arrival of the likes of Sehwag, Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Nehra, Zaheer, did the team started to prosper as an unit. I think history is repeating, and maybe we are going back to the same old days until we find some new talent.
Congrats to NZ Cricket. Two ODI series in a row NZ have faced the worst bowling team in the world. I hope they can keep up being a very bad team that keeps coming up against such obviously bad teams. NZ will of course is still be an average team that has no chance of winning against a team that is half decent.
I see many saying that if NZ comes to India then they will be Whitewashed blah blah...Home Grounds always favor home team yes..BUT if you claim to be world champions or the No1 team in the world you gotta be winning away ALSO. Remember the time btw 2000 to 2007..Australia dominated world cricket...they won almost 90% of the Series played overseas..They lost 1 or 2 to NZ & SA but they were actual champs.. The problem abt this indian team is no fighting spirit.. We tend to just give up in the middle of the match.. Whereas remember the Match btw Indvs AUs in Mohali and Aus Vs Eng the innings by James Faulkner. They lost the match aand he goes to hell and back with Victory...U need that spirit to keep the Game GOing..Aus has it, NZ showed this Series. I remember the last time we lost badly back in 2003..But u remember that NZ team they would give opposition nightmares..And still we had Positives with exceptional Bowling and winning Couple. Fighting Spirit is needed.
really i feel sorry for team India. poor guys they have absolutely no idea on how to win on foreign soil. whether be it in SA or NZ. i think the board should look on how to improve the team in overseas rather than focusing how to make more money. we still have tours in Eng and Aus, we all know that it will be a whitewash too. plz team India learn how to play on bouncier pitches.
That is again lack of performance from indian team . i don't think only problem for indian bowlers .Indian batsmen should be paid for this . They didn't play good cricket at all . i am not from indian but i like virat kohli who is really talented in any condition. Dhoni played quite good cricket in this series . i believe indian selectors should have called Gambir , yuv and shewag for batting line up , as well as harbajan and zahir as bowlers .harbajaan is always wicket taking and attacking bowler in any condition. in personally i don't admire jadeja . i believe best replacement for him is yuvi . wish indian will have good test series .
hopefully our mates across the tasman look after that number 1 ranking for a while till we get a chance to go over there and try and wrestle it off them, chappell-hadlee anyone? now that would be a series worth watching at the moment.
India should mainly look to improve their bowling department. They are in need of good pace bowlers.I think we should not bring the argument of that Indian population is 1.3 bil, yet can't produce a decent pacer. Why ?? because 60% of their population are below the poverty margin (below $1.5/day). And 1/3 of world's poor are living in India. So, these poor people have other priorities such as food, shelter n so on than playing cricket. So, Its quite understandable why they can't produce a single pacer who can clock 150-155. G'luck !
Again there is no back support for India, yet kholi and dhoni have to get india to a position of winning. I see all these comment's of "Dhoni cannot captain like before", but it's not really the captaincy more over the bowlers bowling the wrong line and the batsmen getting out easily. Disappointed in the openers and the middle order, Dhoni and Kholi should never be the only players who bat's to win.
India and england claims to be big two but look at the results .... they claim power but for what? heros in home turf and zeros else where. Newzealand, Pakistan, Sirilanka, Southafrica have the courage to go out and show some spirit and contest but these home clean sweeps are know becoming too predictable and boring. worst indian team leaving the likes of yuvraj, shehwag, behind who are players to watch. with the departure of dravid and tendulkar its RIP indian cricket. records on home turfs pathetic
The funny thing is that this is the team which won us the Champions Trophy about six months back. May be they were able to play well because really nothing was expected of them. Now that the burden of expectations was there on people like Dhawan, Rohit etc., they simply cracked. But on the other hand, just look at Kohli. Burden of expectations on him these days is more than anybody else in Indian team, but that doesn't deter him from performing well. I suspect that people like Dhawan, Rohit, Rahane, Ashwin are true match winners when playing in India, but are simply not good enough for this kind of pitches. High time our selectors starting giving chances to other youngsters. Now we have reached that stage where we really have nothing to lose!
Well apparently the Indians need motivation to win..this is why they were blanked out in south africa and in new zealand. this means they will win the world cup in bangladesh in 2014 and in australia in 2015..then everybody will be silenced..stop lashing out at msd and co..for heavens sake...
First of all Congrats New Zealand ! You showed how to play cricket. While India showed how it shouldn't be. Hard time for them. India lacked execution and confidence, much needed to survive the attack and score freely. Openers playing dots added to the pressure and set the trigger for middle order collapse. Yet again Kohli-Dhoni are lone warriors. Two batsmen can't chase 300+ on their own. They need support which they didn't get.
NZ, a good test team, are gonna show the mightiest performance. Hopefully India will give a much stronger fight in the tests (as a team & not just Pujara and Kohli).
What is the real situation of Odi champions? Are they really champion? I think India is tiger in home ground but mouse in abroad.
Good for New Zealand to rub it into India. Now I hope Saffa can do the same to the Aussies. This is not because I hate India or Australia. This is so that everyone can see how ridiculous the new draft proposal idea is and the concept of "big 3". Given enough chance and opportunity, any team can beat any other team on a given day.
Part 2.
5. Pick one front line spinner for overseas matches unless the pitch is expected to take turn such as in Hamilton this series. Jadeja would be my pick of the two spinners in this series, that he happened to perform better with the bat is a happy coincidence.
6. Don't tell the bowlers they must bowl as fast as possible unless they are regular 145k+ bowlers. Kyle Mills showed that pace is not needed to be a world class ODI bowler. Bhuvweshnar Kumar should take note.
The Indian XI I would pick for overseas conditions would be
1. Ghambir 2. Dhawan 3. Kohli 4. Pujara 5. Dhoni 6. Rohit/Raina (maybe even Yuvraj at 6) Any of these 3 could do a finisher role. 7. Jadeja 8. Kumar 9. Pankaj Singh 10. Ishwar Panday or Varun Aaron 11. Shami
Congrats to NZ for playing excellent cricket and winning. If they can sustain this momentum, they will be a strong contender for the WC15 title. As far our Indian team is concerned, it is now in complete shambles. Only two batsmen who managed to perform in this series are Kohli and Dhoni who can hold their head high. Otherwise, the runs were made by people like Jadeja and Ashwin! And the less we talk about bowlers the better it is. Now our plans for WC15 are in complete disarray. We have to look for 5 good batsmen and three good bowlers. If the selection committee is going to give new boys some chances during the upcoming tours of England and Australia, then its fine. Otherwise, with this kind of batting and bowling, we will make a first round exit in WC15.
Dhoni was telling before this series "India now a settled Team". If we ask the same question now, what will be his answer ? Answer will be "Yes, We are not consistent, we have many things to improve". But one thing he has said in the presentation, openers should back themselves to go for their shots. This point is important, because we don't have immediate replacement for openers, until Gambhir to prove strongly, so we have to stay with this openers. But No.4 is important, replace Rahane with Pujara & Raina with Yuvraj, replace Ashwin with Mishra in Overseas. Bring back Zaheer, Praveen & Irfan as backup for ODIs, but stay with Shami, bhuvaneswar. We have to wait & see what Dhoni's strategy in Tests, he should bring Mishra straight-away for Ashwin, Jadeja will support Mishra. Then Shami, Ishwar & Zaheer should be fast bowlers.
Well. I have said it before, measure captaincy by performance O/S. At home we can win under any captain. There seems to be 2 serious problems here: 1. the captain dictating the scoring rate and not allowing players to play their natural game. Why were Rohit & Dhawan so slow again? We know they are attacking bats. Were they told to go slow even though V R chasing >300? What is happening? 2. The selection defies logic. If stability is needed at top on O/S tours why Pujara and Vijay not in the team? Rahane is more a test player not ODI + why we select bits & pieces players like Rayudu, Binny, etc? The stubbornness of Dhoni is most annoying. He is completely inflexible and doesn't change quickly as reqd. Is he building an empire for himself? Ishant & Raina persisted with for too long; let go of those who don't improve. Y play 2 spinners when there is no turn? Today, Aaron was fast/good, keep him for both ODI & tests + Yadav & Shami. That is our future, not Zak & Ishant. + Where R U coach?
Congrats to Kiwis for humiliating the no 1 team ( sorry erstwhile no.1 team )with another superb victory. Take out Kohli and Dhoni from the team and what do we have ? Players like Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma , Suresh Raina who are unable to cope up with genuine quickies and bouncing balls. And less said about the bowlers better it is. India's top (?) spinner Ashwin taking a lone wicket in 5 matches at very high cost. BCCI should stop sending these players for overseas matches. Let them select and send new comers abroad so that they can learn the conditions there and become better players. The results don't matter as the team is getting beaten even with the flat track bullies we have and inventor of the carrom ball ! ( he may discover snooker ball soon )
Dhoni's story telling days should come to an end now, every time we have a new story, the core issue for India is that Dhoni is not working with the bowlers on what to do but asks them to bowl to their strengths this results in the bowlers not evolving. In India due to familiarity the bowlers bowl a little better but the batsmen get a bigger advantage and score very heavily....Apart from Kohli nobody knows how to play on different pitches, this is a laughable "No.1" side, we used to easily beat NZ at home also, this is a big joke, scary to think what Johnson will do to these lambs.....it will be back to those days of 60 all out etc....I think India's strategy is to just remain in the top echelons and make as much money as possible, the leadership wants a captain who is aligned to them, building a world class team is a second tier goal. India is not chasing this goal with the intensity they did in 2008-2011. Every time India moves outs of the top 3 they will hold a home series....
Drastic changes at this stage wont fetch any great results. Let the team introspect for the failures and come out strong. Changed ODI bowling conditions also working against India who lack quality pace bowlers who perform consistently well. I dont think any drastic changes in the batting will work now and what is needed is to think and apply the basics nd play according to the situation.Only possible change which I think is bring in Rohit at no:4. He played many magnificent innings in IPL at that position and Rahane can be a choice for opener. A lot of changes/reshuffle in bowling department has to be done.
White wash/s continue away from Indian flat wickets! in order rank best team, given team should play home and away in equal number of matches. Now you understand why India way rank no 1 for while. :)
It's Not about How good NZ are, it's about how bad India were, I dont see NZ winning World Cup, NZ fans dont be to optimistic, coz you still carry too many passengers, main one is your captain
Manog
The average nz team you refer to India making look good has beaten SA , ENG in ODI series in their countries in last year , so my question can you tell me when India last did that against top tier countries in their country?
Please answer? India are simply bullies at home on poor pitches and can't ever travel so why is every one surprised?
I am laughing so hard! I am a Bangladeshi fan btw and pretty sure Cricinfo will not post this as it's run by Indians anyways. But we blanked this Kiwi side 4-0 and 3-0 in the last two series we played against! Oh wait we actually also beat India, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies last time we played them and you folks question our cricket standards. Just makes me laugh thats all!
Such an incredibly pathetic performance by Indian as I said in every comment they are most overrated team on this planet. Dhoni should be sacked immediately ... India is tier 2 team at the moment
For my information can somebody tell me where Dhoni and Kohli chased successfully away from the subcontinent?Did they do in SA, Aus, NZ, England? Am I missing something?I am tired of saying people saying they are best chasers etc etc..may be they are when the ball does nothing like in the subcontinent or when there is no pressure at all..please help me with the matches where they did
dhoni this rohit that.... blame the bowlers blame the pitch... indian team still an excellent team and have all the skill. how about just accepting the fact they were beaten by a nz team playing better cricket. hell aus or sa probably couldnt beat them playing like that. congrats black caps credit where credit is due please.
Well done NZ for thrashing "One" of the "Big Three" like a "Smaller one" :) India again proved that they could only win on their home grounds only. I think that India will make another rule, after converting cricket game into Business, that they will play their each and every match only on Indian pitches.....
India the lion at home is Jackal at abroad . Repeatedly their result is same. They can maintain their position only by the meetings of 3 big, otherwise no way they can save them from humiliation. Their batting prompted for some time in past but they are failure in Bowling since their birth. Lot of changes are required in all departments. Wish them good of luck in Test Matches against New Zealand now. Aman Ullah Khan/Brooklyn/NY/USA
I seem to remember an article on this site when India were in SA along the lines of, "Has India conquered it's pace hoodoo". The author seemed to think so and so did the Indian fans. Pace would never trouble them again we heard, all their issues had been solved. Their batsmen were technically the best in the world apparently. Those of us that pointed out that the Saffers had curiously prepared two very tame pitches for the tests were labelled 'haters'. There's not much good one can say about willing self-delusion, and then there's still the problems with that truly AWFUL bowling attack. I don't think I've seen worse at international level, not in forty years of following the game. They'd be lucky to get a game with Canada or Singapore. Over a billion people and the best India can do is these pie-chuckers. At least with all that hair Sharma doesn't have to witness the results of his bowling. I'd love to see him attempt a return catch.....
Here is a New Zealand perspective on how India could fix their team.
1. The opening combination should be Ghambir/Dhawan. Dhawan plays a similar style game to Sehwag and they were a proven combination in the not too distant past. He also seems to still be in good first class form and is only 32 years old.
2. Give Kohli the captaincy. Dhoni obviously isn't confident in his pace bowlers and McCullum showed the importance of believing in your players not just today with Matt Henry, but also earlier in the series using Corey Anderson at the death despite being expensive and picking up 3 wickets including Dhoni.
3. Bring in Pujara. This seems so obvious to me, let him play like we use Williamson except at 4 since Kohli is very comfortable at 3.
4. Drop Ishant from the ODI squad entirely and make him pick up domestic wickets for at least a year to rebuild his confidence at a core level.
To be Continued
Cricket Diplomacy I don't think one should take this series seriously.....its all plan of big3 to get vote from new zealand
This Ind team is the worst ever team who held the No.1 ranking in any format. They are pretty ordinary. We chased them to No. 2. I am sure black caps will kick them out to where they belong. This pathetic team should never be considered in "Big 3". Their fans ask to sack the test status of Ban, but ICC should that to Ind ODI team first.
well being an Indian its a very disappointing result. I don't now what is Dhoni trying to prove here? Same mistakes in each and every match. Not a single game for talent like Mishra and Ishwar pandey. And how many chances does Rohit,Shikhar and Raina needs to prove their worth in the team. And even Ashwin is also an average or better we say below average bowler outside India. I think its time for Bhajji and Gambhir to make a comeback in the squad or we better start calling it team Chennai instead of team India.
After the first game, I said that I will boycott the series on my behalf if Ishant, Rohit, Ashwin continues to play and I am so glad that I did. Its not about team India anymore, sorry to say this to my fellow Indian fans, but the truth is its not about India. Supporting India is more like supporting a stubborn captain's ego. I am damn 100% sure this guy will continue to pick his favourites in Aus also, despite both Ojha's and Amit Mishra's stats spitting on the averages of Ashwin. In the last two odi series of India, Ashwin has an average of 227 in SA and 169 in NZ. Outside subcontinent Ashwin's average in ODIs is 43 and in tests it is 75. Yet this guy continues to get picked!!! There are many other such questionable players, Rohit Sharma is perhaps the epitome of mediocrity. But again Dhoni will continue to pick them, the likely ones to get an axe after this series are Rahane and Rayudu, players who recently got chances. Dhoni and Srinivasan are going to kill Indian cricket.
Mind blowing performance by NW & congrats to them.. the way they batted throughout the series was superb and they never gave a chance for the opposition.. there is one thing can realized that the population and money is not cricket. India promoting their basic cricketers as long time heroes by using media & they waiting till they performing... its really unfair for young players as well they should have sometime to spend in international cricket cos international level is way head than IPL & Ranji tournament..
by the way Indians should realized that they are just another team among other international teams. All the best for rest of the tournament
It has been frustrating waking up at 6 only to get disappointment in the afternoon. The regularity with which the team is losing over-seas has been baffling. The root problem is inadequate bowling which gets exposed outside India when the so called flat-track-bullies find themselves out of their comfort zone. TOTALLY OUTPLAYED. WELL PLAYED KIWIS!
So Same story gain .. Does jadeja , ashwin , rohit , raina , raydu these players deserve to be in this team. i mean dhoni & selectors pick these players on the bases of their performances in IPL. But international cricket is vastly different from IPL ..Why persisting with same team when its not working for u . Bring back the so called OLDER ones for one series thn Dhoni & whole of india will see the difference.
Why do people blame the Coach when the team is not playing well ? This is not football where the coach is entirely responsible for team's performance in 90 mins. When India won the Champions Trophy in 2013 all accolades were being given to Dhoni and Duncan Fletcher was left unnoticed. And now when india is losing, no1's blaming Dhoni for the loss. Think logical guys. I feel Dhoni has lost his all captaincy skills. He doesnt even bother to walk upto our bowlers and guiding them what line to bowl when the opposition batsmen are tearing them apart. Bowling is an art and India has been giving 300+ runs to the opposition in the past 2 years ODI's consistently. I strongly request the BCCI to consider curbing the IPL and instead have more Overseas tours for the Indian team. IPL is just a business, we are seeing it since the past 2-3 years. Dhoni playes all 16 matches for CSK in the IPL and then complains of fatigue when India loses any test/odi overseas.Rubbish...
Same old story : "Heros in India, Zeros outside". England, Australia, SA now NZ, the results are same. Till Australian tour all blamed veterans for non performance, virtually the top 6 batsmen are new yet baring Kohili no one seems to know how to play overseas cricket. Team selection is always a surprise to cricket fans; despite poor show and the known weakness of right arm leg spin to teams such as NZ or SA , Amit Mishra is not considered in playing XI. But for 1 match batting neither Ashwin nor Jadeja demonstrated any performance to claim as bowlers. Again in the dead rubber like today's cant we try with bench strength Ishwar Pandey is just a passenger like Rasool in ZIM tour. Looks S Binny may be another Rohan Gavaskar, playing just 1 match and bowled 6 balls. Time to reconsider Gambhir, Yuvraj till WC 2015 and resist playing out of form players on reputation.
The Sri Lankans and Bangladeshis have no right to be talking down to the Indian team. The former have become famous for their dirty tactics and the latter have either bullied teams on their flat-tracks or lost badly to quality teams at home. I'm sure SL still remember the Caribbean tri-series and what Dhoni and Bhuvi did to them! As for B'desh, you guys just made a mockery of yourselves in the last Test in your home ground.
As much as it pains me to say this, only the Pakistani fans have the right to talk down to us, especially as they pulled off a series win in South Africa, and have been on a roll lately.
India need to get their act together quickly: there's only so much Kohli can do. Every team fears him when he's at the crease, but when he's gone, the match is over. We cannot, at any cost, revert to the days where we depended on one man to save us. By doing this, we will have truly moved on from the SRT-era! Oh, and why didn't Pandey get a game instead of Ashwin?
This Ind team is the worst ever team who held the No.1 ranking in any format. They are pretty ordinary. We chased them to No. 2. I am sure black caps will kick them out to where they belong. This pathetic team should never be considered in "Big 3". Their fans ask to sack the test status of Ban, but ICC should that to Ind ODI team first.
Congratulations to NZ for once again a clinical performance. I would suggest that the BCCI should allocate a couple hundred zillion dollars to an IPL rehabilitation centre and ODI basics training facility for the world "Champions" in order to compete at international standard. Im sure the Bangladeshi team is looking forward to their promised encounter.
In the 90s the pitches were green tops , now they are excellent batting decks as proven by nz scoring 300 most occasions , so why keep saying Indian batting exposed on green tops?
India beaten by a better team , on good cricket wickets , one difference is heart and desire to win as shown by commitment in field and wanting to win for your team and countr.
India have not had this for many years and survive on back of super stars like sachin.
Untill they find their heart they will always struggle against tough teams like Australia , SA , Nz , unless they are at home on substandard dust bowl pitches , no wonder they want to own the game and only play at home.
there was alot of indian fans before the series predicting 5-0/ 4-0 score lines and im amazed how right you were, your pyschic powers astound me, you got it bang on.
Congrats to NZ. Well played at home. Good for them especially when WC in their country. India need to find proper replacement for few players. Rohit Sharma, Rahane and Aswin are not good in ODIs abroad. Bring back Gambhir and some one for middle order too. All the best for the tests. Hope, guys will do better performance as they were used to the condition now.
If Indian bowlers can not bowl on right spot & top order expect kohli can not score runs then what Dhoni can do ? Indian always have problem in overseas conditions & on top of that their weak bowling made them loose miserably 4-0 . It's lesson for big three no one can bigger than game here no 8 team thrashed no 1 team like England thrashed by aus both in ODI & Test sane way Australia will also struggle in overseas conditions particularly against SA & PAK . So big three have to realized the facts promote the cricket in its best interest instead greed , money & power it will destroy even big 3 cricket and a time will come when big three will be struggling like in 1990's India and England struggled and big three will be limited to T20 cricket
One of the baloon of big three has been exploded today. India has lost all one day matches recently away from home. t seems that the intention of the big three after being incharge is to keep every effort to preserve their rating also by conducting home serieses as much as possible. Moreover recent scandals of match fixings etc shows that where there money will have primary importance , sports will be corrupted. If Money has to rule , where stands the spirit of the game?
Well done New Zealand! The bowling depth is very impressive, everyone coming in seems to impress - especially Henry - and the plans and tight bowling is a huge key to success. I haven't been able to see any of today's game unfortunately, because now I really want to see Henry bowl (people comparing his action to Bond!), but I can make the assumption that NZ's bowlers are hugely benefitted from Mcullum's captaincy. He has plans for each batter and not only enforces tight bowling, but keeps attacking fields!
A lot of similarity between the Aus and NZ team I think - load of fast bowling depth, brilliant captain with a good deputy, a swashbuckling left handed opener to partner a right handed big hitter, and consistency in the middle order with more big hitters to finish. However it kind of pains me to say this - I think NZ has Aus shaded in young batting talent and depth - and NZ look to be a tighter bowling unit. Can't wait till the World Cup. NZ have a HUGE chance
Congratulations to New Zealand on their well-earned series win... Indian team has been thoroughly exposed on this tour.. But I would say the problem really starts from these public commentary circle.. When Rohit scored his first century after years in the recent ODIs in India's flat tracks, everyone crowned him as champion.. So was Shikar Dhawan and so was Rahane.. In spite of average performances, bowlers like Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Aaron, Umesh Yadav etc. were again confirmed as champions.. Well India's failures have all been squarely due to these guys.. Ashwin and Jadeja were criticized endlessly so far, but at least they bowled tight spells and brought us the only cheer in this series.. Its time the team is selected on merit and not on names.. I don't think Dhawan, Rohit, Raina, Rahane, B Kumar, V Aaron etc. would have deserved places in any team..
Shambles of an Indian Cricket Team. I would put the blame fairly and squarely on Dhoni and his powerful masters for this state. He wanted his own team and pushed out Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvi, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Irfan from the odi team. The results are there to see. People forget the WC2011 victory was due to Yuvi/Sehwag/Zaheer/Gambhir.!! Dhoni only hit that six in final !!
People like Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Raina, Ashwin, Jadeja can only play in India and someone like Ishant Sharma, no where !! The team seriously needs a re think and seniors like Gambhir, Sehwag, Yuvi, Bhaji, Zaheer back.
well new zeland must be thanking indian players for such a poor n pathetic show...as their avg side now looks a gr8 team. for indian-dhoni is good only in india--check his captaincy n batting record. my question is why took 15 playes on tour when only 12 were to be played--why stuart binny bowled only one over--why pujara is not part of this team---why dhawan is playing when his own coach is failing to understand his game plan. Dhoni should know now what players india had---sachin,laxman,saurav,rahul-should learn how to captain a side overseas from saurav.
CRISIS SITUATION for indian batting....suddenly a hole is created, when they tour overseas. This is similar situation once cricket australia were facing when their senior players were no more available for selection. This is happening when there is not lack of talented players in squad, but due to overated players like rohit, rahane, shikar dhawan, raina, ashwin, ishant.Team management want to stick with these players even they were failed continuosly. This will definitely hurt the chances for the deserving players like manoj tiwary,r dhawan, ishwar pandey, samson.with two or three class batsmen like virat, dhoni,Team India cannot continue its winning ERA even in onedayers. The habit of keeping a talented and deserving players in bench is really hurting the team in the CRISIS situation like this. Its shame that roger binny doesnt get better chance in either department in his debut match. This is one of the best example how we are treating our secondary resource player(new comers)
India should only play cricket at home. It will be great if india suffered same in tests, so in future we can see some senior players which are much better than these bloody guns.
If india have to set big standards then gambhir and dhoni have to come down at upper position and play natural innings.I dont understand why dhoni come down at no 6 or no 8,he have to come down at one down position,if u dont believe in me then just look statistics at no 3 or no 4 position.
Ashwin in 5 matches has got 1 wicket and Mishra was not tried out its a pity, Jadeja 5 matches 4 wickets and 145 runs , binny was not tried - Lets BCCI send CSK team as India team coz we play under BCCI logo it doesnt matter India plays or CSK . Please do not make any player HERO unless he is tested in Foreign conditions. Only exception is pujara and virat who are tested and passed. Though NZ is a strong team at home and ranked number 8 but sheer on ranking should be winning in all conditions
@raj_jesh idk wat are you talking abt indiam bowling was really bad nz bowlers also bowl on the same pitches nd blow indian batsmens btw pakistan beat india in india west indies in west indies south africa in south africa so dnt say all teams u can say all team except pakistan
And then they said they want to Rule the Cricket world! Why? Is playing at home is how you can win only? First what they need is to revamp their pitches and just not make flat ones! This Indian team easily chase 350+ targets but when play outside country their real strength comes to zero! Think! New Zealand played gem of brilliant cricket and almost clean sweep the Champions (only when playing home) thanks to their bowler turned batsman who managed to secure a Tie.
Indian team when it became no.1 had in its midst the likes of Sehwag, Sachin, Gambhir, Yuvraj, Harbhajan and Zaheer. The replacements have been poor with the exception of Virat Kohli. So, no need to grieve but live out this period of transition and build a better team for world cup 2015.
The biggest of the "big three" beaten again even well before the match was over and a 4-0 thumping. It goes to show only cricket is bigger than the so called "big three".
NZ will be in good shape in the coming tests as well as force to be reckon with in the next year's world cup.
a 4:0 pounding of india.
and if THAT decision was given or a spilled catch taken, it could have easily been 5:0!
So sorry for Dhoni! He has selflessly marshalled his troops over the last few years with unmatched leadership skills. But the impact of the current transition of Indian team, in the wake of retirement of all the great plyers,is so strong that despite the virtuoso he is,one can't expect him to escape it altogether;and this is a fact.Perhaps and I repeat perhaps this loss signals the END OF DHONI ERA OF INDIAN CRICKET.An era that saw a magnificent player and the greatest Indian captain till date enthrall us with his magical skills and take the team to all possible heights especially the shorter versions of the game.I am not at all writing him off as a player but for sure he may never be the same captain-a captain with midas touch- again.
Why Player like Rahane,Rayadu,Murali Vijay is there still in team.Where the player like Gambhir and Yuvraj who had done good performances in oversease and in mainstream worldcup series.
Bravo Kiwis and congrats. ICC better re-think the big 3 as 2 of them have got whipped in the recent series. So much so for a two tiered system.
@shane-oh: You are being kind Shane. MSD may be batting well but he's a selfish guy without basic common sense required to win cricket games overseas. He keeps picking the same failed players over and over again. This is so frustrating because it seems the man hasn't learnt anything. Ever since he became captain of CSK, he's been picking Ashwin, Jadeja, Raina in every single match. Those 3 are failed players. Jadeja had one fluke innings along with middle order batsman 'Ashwin' and Dhoni has persisted with them since. There are plenty other failures in this team. The openers have proven they are incapable to play outside India. Rahane and Rayudu should stick with IPL for the rest of their lives. And the bowling ? The less said, the better. Bye bye world cup dreams !
New zealand spinners are not better than Indian spinners, the only reason is that their fast bowling is good and so they are delivering without any pressure and moreover indian batsman are cautious that not to lose wickets to newzealand spinners and that makes looks them bowling good. On the other hand indian pacers including Aaron, shami looks pathetic and that puts pressure on spinners, moreover the new zealand batters are with world of confidence and so they are playing with confidence against out spinners . this is what the difference..
While playing spin bowling you should have 100% confidence, if you just think for a second then you will struggle. The indian batsman are not having confidence as they are looking not to lose the wicker.
This is the reality and the real culprits are the openers, Rohit in special he is wasting too much balls for his own sake... Throw that guy out and give another chance to Murali Vijay.
Congratulations New Zealand on a very very good performances. We will not forget this drubbing and thank you for exposing our weaknesses. This will help us fix it and comeback stronger. You are a force to reckon with and I really hope NZ Cricket grows bigger and stronger!
yes... now what dhoni ll do? no1 team completely white washed against no8 superb.. now where is Dhoni's captaincy r whether it is not working for all games ah India completely depends on kohli dhoni replaces all senior players, I think dhoni's old captaincy have to be replaced by New if dhoni went out from captaincy Indian players ll play freely on there own game
Let's be honest, India have been utterly outplayed throughout the series and the test matches might well see the same results. Major 90s deja vu with this lot. How did Indian cricket devolve to a state where the team is crammed with such weaklings?! For the #1 ODI team to gasp in relief on tying the 3rd ODI against a team not in the top rung is shameful. On a lighter note, Kohli is the new Tendulkar - great innings in losing causes. :) Too sad that such a good batsman is stuck with teammates who have little to no fight in them.
This is great show from kivis....and every one talking about india is only indian fsns. And this so called number one home bullys cannot win out from their soil.and they proived it .even bangladesh thrashed them in bd.a team that play with one man show ask them to win match without kholi they will never and they cannot.poor dhoni and india proud to be a indian fan lols...................
Finally the likes of @cpt.meanster have woken up and started to smell the coffee. I have been shouting hoarse that the ipl will make us terrible on overseas tours as the youngsters coming in will have scant regard for technique and patience. Quicks wouldnt care about hitting the right length and spinners wouldnt care about spin and loop. The only exception is Kohli but he has excelled inspite of the ipl not due to it! The Rohits, shikars and Rahanes of the world should tour for 2-3 yrs as part of india A side and then try to re-enter the team. And before you jump onto Champions trophy and the WI tour, do realize that one good performance doesnt change the fact that we have been consistently whitewashed in tests and ODIs in Eng, Aus, SA and now NZ! Also stop defending this by saying every team is poor outside - Engl won a series in NZ, SA , Aus and India not long back and drew in SL. SA perform really well outside and Aus have had 1 bad tour to India and a couple in Eng in 10 yrs!
Well done NZ. Very well played. Being an Indian, I am utterly disappointed. While I like cricket and would love to see other good teams play against each other, I will never again see an India match. Well deserved series win for NZ. They were very consistent. Excellent performance.
I'm yet to see India win a match in year 2014. Guess I'll have to wait for long long time. LOL India are a pretty ordinary team. Even Bangladesh managed to whitewash this NZ team. Indian batsmen's inability to cope with fast bouncy tracks is alarming. They should learn from Sri Lankan batsmen how to play on fast bouncy tracks.
Loving it! Thank you dear Kiwi quicks for confirming what a bunch of primadonnas our batsmen are. After 4-0 in the ODIs there's little to no hope in the tests. Capt Cool has to go - he's a definite goner from the test side after this series and should be culled for ODIs as well even if it's before the world cup. Atleast half the responsibility of the poor show of our quicks lies with Capt Cool. At 41/2 after 13 he brings on Ashwin! Atleast with a new captain and some new players there's an outside chance of a good show - with this lot there's not even an outside chance. What remains to be seen is whether team BCCI has the courage.
India should first redefine their approach in playing ODIs. Instead of starting slowly and later wasting wickets going for big shots, they need to find a way to rotate singles till 30+ overs to keep up the run rate and also not to waste too many wickets.
Kudos to NZ team. They did well as a team. Cricket is a team game and team effect could lead them for the massive victory. If they continue with this form surely they would be the black horses in WC 2015. Quite disappointed about the inconsistency of Indian team. They must reunited and fight hard in Tests. Hope strong comeback in Tests and India might close to No 1 spot in Test rankings. Kohli seems the most consistent young batsmen and Pujara would be the same in Tests. Taylor would star in tests as well. Best wishes to both teams to see a nail biting contest in the Test series.
The whole problem is that the selectors are picking the same players over and over again as if there are no other alternatives. I believe it is time to infuse fresh blood. To begin with they should take out Dhoni from captaincy. There are many players who could turn out to be revelations if they are given a chance. For instance Kedar Jadhav could definitely come in for Raina , Bawne for rayadu and Rahul for Dhawan to suggest a few.Contnuity is fine but it should not be pushed to such extremes. Based on some responses I could release a list of names who would be worth trying.
I think WE Indian fans need to take a moment to acknowledge the SUPERB performance of the Black Caps. Congratulations NZ, you deserve this series win. If it wasn't for Jadeja's heroics, you would have won 5-0. That would have been the ideal result after how your team put up a CLINIC on how to play ODI cricket. You showed Team India how to bat, bowl and field. I hope the Indian cricket team take in this learning experience and humbly listen more to NZ players. NZ played like the no.1 team and India played like minnows. You are one of that favourites to win the world cup NZ. I wish you the best and I hope my fellow Indian fans congratulate your team on this achievement. The Indian team should ask BCCI to relegate them to tier 2 so that they can at least compete with Ireland, Afghanistan and Scotland.
I think everybody is playing bad outside their home country...You can see such an impressive england before aussie tour failed to even mark their presence in Australia..Similarly india is performing zero everytime they visit other country...Wats happening !!! seems 99% of the home team makes pitches according to their own teams need..This should be an important point that ICC should note do something and should have a similar rule for all the countries that pitches should be made equally beneficial for home as well as opponent teams..so that people like watching matches
First and foremost the coaching team should be dropped. Shockingly fletcher and even more shockingly Joe Dawes hold on to their places. They have not been able to equip our batsmen against short balls or made oir bowlers to pitch it in yhe right areas. Its not the result....its the performance. Dhoni has been reluctant towards imnovation and change. The midfle overs is sn area we have lost steam due to defensive bowling. we need to induct fresh talent and put them on fastrack. The parvez rassool incident has been repeated with ishwar pandey, amit mishra and to a certain extent binny. exremely sad performance.
I think India needs the big three draft to be accepted more than anything else. That`s the only thing that can assure then no overseas tours and then they will rule the cricket at home. In fact all these big 3 countries have a similar records in the past 2-3 years when playing overseas. So that`s the way out. Cricinfo pls. publish..
@kapilesh23 - to be fair to Dhoni, he's scored 272 runs in this series, at an average of 68 and a strikerate of 92. He's hardly been pedestrian, especially given he has had to rebuild with Kohli so many times. He's leading from the front, he just isn't getting enough support.
Dhoni has to step down as captain. His strategies are not working. Gambir should be back as an opener. Rohit to be no.4. Rohit or Gambhir should take over the captaincy.
Dhoni is playing for himself not for the team if a youngster like faulkner can win 2 gams for australia then why dhoni is not trying and not going for big shots though he is among the best hitters in world cricket, dhoni is the main reason behind kohli,s wicket.
all 5 odis..nz lost 2 wkts inside 15 ovr..from 15 to 35 thy scrd 6 runs per ovr without loosing any wkts..tat shows how pathetic our spin bwlng(ash and jadeja)..its feel vry sad fr binny and pandey..though binny plyd 1 game he dint get a chance to bat.and bowld 1 ovr..instd of hm raydu (part time spinner ) bwld 5 ovrs..lol dhoni
Forced to eat humble pie, I had predicted a 4-1 victory for India, shocked to see us go down 0-4. Well played NZ team, Ind can learn a lot from you guys. Our only consolation is we won 6-1 when NZ toured Ind.
Well done Black Caps !!! what a thrashing. 4-0 LOL This what I've been telling all along. The media hype neither win you matches nor make you the best side in the world. Sri Lanka is the best team from SC, then Pakistan, Bangladesh and finally India. Sad but that's the truth.
Oh Kohli you beauty! You deserve to be the world's best batsman in the world at the moment, pity that you other 10 mates can't do it with you to make us win.
well played by NZ. they certainly have performed above expectations. 4-0 to a no 1 team is very remarkable achievement. and almost all have contributed in some way. brilliant.
Disappointing from india. There were talks about tests and conditions but never expected them to do so badly in Odis both in SA and in NZ. they are good side in odis and no 1 when they went there to play with lower ranked team. I think issue was with team selection. they certainly have not picked right team. some of them are really passengers. not in form but picked again and again for some reasons.
Bowling showed a little improvement today but Top order Batsmen failed again, Kohli is the only gem in Indian cricket team, we need 11 kohl's oh well because he can bowl as well well, or say include 2 bowlers and 9 kohl's and will do the job for India, I wish if my words were true, throw all other batsmen from Indian team, except Kohli, Dhoni and Jadeja! Even though Dhoni showed no character in today's match, feel so bad but nevertheless as we will definitely beat any team in 2015 world cup for sure!
I am just tired by these very one sided and boring series played by these ''big 3'' (not big on the field, not big hearted either on the ICC meeting table. Are they big really!)
this is pathetic, i mean really pathetic. no hope for this team, fletcher has to go i am afraid. he single handedly turned these batsman into a bunch of defensive jokers, even the team strategies are dreadfully defensive. dhoni's captaincy end is near. We need to play 7 batsman and 4 bowlers like we always did and won 2 world cups with that strategy.. omg Ashwin at 6 are you kidding me, he bats like a tilted banana.. I am Done!... I am Done!.. really I am Done!!!!
Well there are enough reasons for world to be happy when india loses... But losing like that, oh man, tired of being happy and now its like no taste of watching them lose... I hope they would win a series at least in india... So indians will be happy and we will be happy to see them in a position so we could be happy when they lose afterwords and it will be a win-win situation... In a situation (back to back whitewash) like this, cant make fun out of it even its against india...
Spare some thought for Kohli. In the first, second and this odi got no support even from dhoni. Dhoni takes so much time to settle that builds pressure on him and then he flashes on every delivery. Come on this is disappointing. Of course some people would say that if Dhoni was not there then there was no support at all for Kohli. But atleast Dhoni can take singles and rotate strikes, he can't manage to do even that when partnering Kohli.
@ Francis : completely agree with you every one is bashing india they don't want to give credit to better playing side. I think Dhoni has better knowledge of cricket than any of his cricketing fans.
Chances are beconing for Shewag, Gambir, Yuvi, and Harbajan.
Rohit Sharma is a supreme talent. You can scoff at his failures in SAF and NZ but I have complete faith in his ability. Lets not forget that he has only just started out as an Opener and is settling down into the position. He found it easier to do that at home but it døesnt mean he won't succeed overseas.
MSD has gone on record to say Gautam Gambhir is next in line for the openers role, especially in Tests. Gambhir may be back for the England Tour. He is experienced and a big match player. He should be in the Team to keep Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan on their toes.
Team India batsmen R. Sharma , Dhawan, rahane lowering the bar further. No fun scoring on boring Indian pitches. This is the place a batsman needs to perform if he wants to be known as a world class deal. Only Kohli and Dhoni count here.
Guys lets close the Sehwag chapter. He is inconsistent and more importantly is woefully out of form. His current domestic season is probably is worst. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are no less devastating that Sehwag, although they may not have the same record as Sehwag. I am only talking about ability. And lets not forget Sehwag is a bad fielder. He will probably make it back to a series at home but that will be his swansong. I get the feeling he will do well at IPL 2014.
As usual, Kohli the lone wolf soldiers on and falls to his own team's incompetence. Looking forward to a better show in the tests, with Pujara coming in..
There are two New Zealand Squad members very dissappointed with this NZ winning effort. Neil Wagner and Doug Bracewall just realised their Test careers will be over soon after seeing Matt Henry bowling. He is very good...similar to James Pattison from Aus.
Indian selection is pretty amusing. So many guys who haven't done anything. Raina and Rohit on NZ seamers, nice one. Playing 2 spinners on NZ seamers for an entire series? Well that's simply hilarious. They bowled a total of 15 overs for 91 runs between them, and took 0 wickets. I understand that you don't like your seam attack Dhoni, but in NZ you don't play 2 spinners over and over. It's just common sense and what you're doing is making you look incredibly stupid.
If India didn't have Kohli they would rank behind Scotland in ODI's.
I don't know why all you indian fans criticise Dhoni's captaincy so much. He has shown absolutely amazing tactical skill by calling 'HEADS" at the toss and has won EVERY one!! Give him a break...McCullum has tossed the coin extremely poorly with no spin or rotation in the coin...(Much like Ashwins bowling).
"Taylor had pulled out an axe, Williamson was going at it with a blade, and India were bleeding profusely.". Hahahaha. Nice one man. Nice one. Just love it.
Far out all I see in these comments are how bad India are, how terrible their bowling is and how bad their batting is (except Kohli and Dhoni) Very little respect or acknowledgement to how well NZ are/have been playing throughout this whole series which has been quite awesome and very enjoyable to watch
Nz vs Ind 4-0 ..... and you people call them Big-3..... I am damn sure if india keeps playing overseas soon they will be at the bottom of the table in all formats of cricket
There has been a lot of India bashing. Why non-Indian Cricket fans are so passionate about Indian Team is beyond me. I thought India competed well both in SAF and in NZ. If you are criticising the Indian Team performance then you undermining the performance of SAF and NZ. NZ is looking such a fantastic ODI unit and if they can believe they are world beaters they will be world beaters. I am not concerned about India's future. Nothing has changed. Out batsmen are still talented and capable while out bowlers have been and will continue to be mediocre. Every one needs to live with it. Having said that hoping for a great finish by Dhoni and Kohli.
Badly Missing VIRENDRA SEHWAG & GAUTAM GAMBHIR combination starts at the top..... those were the wonder years, rocking opening stands laid foundation to most victories in that era. And these guys were consistent & while one went after the bowling the other stood up responsibly wether in India or abroad & had the skills required. Bring them back Dhoni..... Dhawan & Sharma are good but cant ever match these stalwarts. Give them time in the team at other slots alongwith VIRU & GAUTI in.
Time to get Unmukt Chand, Baba Aparajit and Vijay Zol into the India team. Get rid of Raina, Rayudu, Rohit and Rahane. Bowlers need to do a lot of homework.
This happens when u are overrated by media and fans with no cricket sense same old story on a whole new day , i think BCCI should really consider improving india's team rather than demolishing a good game for sack of money
How good is Henry ! I happy to see NZ has given a quality cricketer a go. I don't know what they were thinking with Bennett in front of this fellow.
For the WC 2015, India should be asked to select a team without Kohli & Dhoni and compete in the qualifiers. If qualified, then these two can be added to the team. At least Kohli will be spared of having a batting average of 50+, a strike rate of 90+% and a win loss ratio of 0.01
Madhu
I think its better to have a experienced batman like Gambhir or Sehwag when India is playing overseas. As this series gone the India have to worry about their bating in mandatory power play at start of innings.
Current indian team reminds me early 90's indian team bring back yuvi and gauti far better players than dhawan and raina can you imagine india will win 2 world cup wins with out yuvi and gauti
I think India need to bring back old chaps that include sehwag, gambhir, yuvraj, zaheer, bhajji and irfan to Indian team if they really have sight to defend WC 2015 title. if they keep carry on with the same failure team, I can't see India holding WC trophy ever again. Rohit & Ishant needs to be dropped from the team and Dhoni should be out from selection panel...just because this captain, many capable players waiting for their opportunity from ages. I feel sorry for Rahane but now he can't compain that he didn't get chance in a team as he couldn't eveb score 100 runs in 5 innings. I wish there will be major changes after this tour.
India is not at all a good team.. They may be number 02 in their self made pitches but unlike Pakistan they cant win ... Look at Misbah team .. never played a single match at home since last 6 years yet in almost every semi final.. Shame on BCCI & its team
well i've just come to expect excelence from taylor and williamson these days but how good is this matt henry kid, moves the ball both ways at good pace, ive seen him bowl before but he looks like he's gained a yard or two of pace since then and im really impressed by him, the depth of our bowling unit is amazing at the moment, all young all relitively quick get good swing it really is exciting, not to mention a pretty classy leg spinner on the sidelines as well, and still guys like bevan small waiting for an oppotunity to prove he has what it takes, makes me wonder why bracewell is anywhere near that test side with all these young speedstars proving to be very dangerous indeed
India o India please don't make exact same mistakes against your opposition please improve your bowling attack. kohli and dhoni cannot chase 300 everyday.
As an Indian fan, I can understand why our team gets a lot of hate. As a team, we flatter to deceive and our fans, a vast majority of them are hero worshippers. We pay to watch these guys represent the country and at what cost ? They let us down internationally by losing to lower ranked teams. And what does the BCCI do ? They are only behind money and don't seem to care how our team performs overseas. It seems we are back to the dark old days of Indian cricket; lions at home and lambs abroad. We will be slaughtered by England and Australia later this year. I think it's time Indian fans switch to other sports. Our hockey team deserve a lot more support than these overpaid and lazy bunch. Do they even care ? I guess not. Oh because the IPL is around the corner. I am a fan of the IPL but not at the cost of international cricket. To me a winning Indian team is more important than CSK or MI winning.
Man how good are New Zealand?
As usual, weak indian bowling leaking more than 300 runs, n taking only 5 wickets,,, putting more pressure on batsmen who are cracking under pressure.. india need at least two world class express bowlers if they want to succeed outside india.
watch the every game. Same story Dhoni and Kohli are savers.
Ashwin and Jadeja should have to watch and learn how Nathan Macullam , a part time bowler bowling, it very poor performance by Indian specialist spinner
Pitiful...just pitiful. Worst part is that this may be the best team India has got. Maybe Pujara can be added, but that's it
Kohli has assumed Tendulkar's mantle in all shape and form. We are beginning to relive the 90s again (at least in the one dayers..). Hopefully, the tests would be better with Pujara
@ Afzal M Faridi writes ".. not to worry, we will bounce back again in world cup…"
Not with this team, mate. Not with this team. If the wickets are the usual Aussie & NZ tracks, and not some ICC flat track BCCI ordered specials like the Champions Trophy, India will be lucky to get beyond the elimination rounds. Right now I'd back Afghanistan against India!
Dhoni approaches India's bowling with a premise that they do not give 300 runs. Today India started well . Then 2 bowlers (Jadeja and Ashwin )whom he uses to control the game but not so effectively at the price of not going for wickets allowed NZ to settle . Till Ashwin plays we cannot hope for wickets in middle but a platform for opposition to make 300 .He is not taking still gets to play as is Dhoni's favourite child . Mishra I suppose will not get to play till doomsday .
His defensive captaincy to wait for things to happen by restricting will not work abroad and with new rules in place . Till than we will go for 300 runs and we will fail to chase unless Kohli and Dhoni score . No lessons learnt .
India can't carry on Rohit like this. He is proving to be a burden now by showing how consistently he can be inconsistent. Dhawan- Just another flat track bully. Rahane, hmm, can give him a go or two in ODIs, he might improve. They lack temperament and maybe technique to some extent. What they hugely lack is confidence, sinking strike rates reflect this. If they really want to defend the world cup next year they should refrain from playing in the IPL. They should go somewhere and practice playing on green tops and bouncy tracks. Playing in flat tracks and batting paradise is doing no good to them and the team.
Wht blowing performance by main blower. So dhoni has no option but give a part timer like kholi to ball 7 overs in ODI. If it done on the test match I understand the situation but in 50 overs cricket.
There is no point sticking with non performers for this long. Rohit Sharma .. he has been a long story of failures in home and abroad for a long long time .. and yet he has been given an opener slot to keep him in the team. He scores once or twice in the whole calender year and keeps his spot. I don't know what on earth are selectors and MS thinking giving him so many chances. If a new player is chosen by the selectors, captain should be made responsible for giving him at least one chance until the series really is not decided till the last match. A dead rubber like today's match is a perfect platform to give Ishwar Pandey a chance and to see how he does. Playing even in one match in condition such as New Zealand can give him a different perspective. Dhoni should have tried different combination and should have given everyone a chance considering no one except himself and Kohli are in good touch and it is one of the world cup venues.
Devilliers innings or Paki batsmen's big innings prove match winning bcz bowlers receive & defend par totals but that of Tendulkar often couldn't win the matches bcz with Indian bowling no total is winning total. Ind bowling always leak well above par totals.
A simple statistic tells how hard Indian bowlers make it for their batsmen as Indian bowlers receive 300+ totals in 33% matches (World's worst) compared to 5% for SA & Pak. So Indian batsmen have to play under immense scoreboard pressure. Besides Indians don't have the facility to boost their statistics by playing against world's worst Indian bowling. That is y I rate Indian batsmen's achievements even higher than row batsmen.
If Tendulkar were in PK or SA team 95 % of his 100s would have been match winning.
We need to accept the true fact guys...Nobody can save Team India from this kind of defeats until its leader been changed(Dhoni).
He lost all his cricketing brain and captain skills becoming very rude towards his team selection.. 1. He always wants the same set of players who bow their heads and wags tail to him i.e - Rohit, Raina, Jadeja, Ashwin, Ishanth etc. 2. If he doesnt like a player they will be out of the team immediately which happened to Sehwag, Gambir, Irfan, Bajji who are capable of winning the matches single handedly.. 3. Lost his cricketing brain and not believing his team...Always choosing fielding when he wins the toss and then he loses the match.
Time to step down Dhoni..You mix Politics with game...Think wise and take decision.
Oh dear - there goes the incredibly overrated Shikar Dhawan, after barely surviving earlier. He now averages 15.5 in his last 7 matches, and 20.25 in New Zealand. India's openers can only be said to have proven to be unable to cope with conditions outside of India's low & slow tracks. Will we see Sewag & Ghambir back in blue?
@ Shan156, during India's SA tour, stated he could not wait for Shikar Dhawan to "rain on SA's parade" and for Philander to be humbled by Dhawan "in full flow." Shan156 - we are still waiting to see Dhawan "in full flow." When can we expect that? Must we wait until he is back in India in the IPL?
Oh dear again. After Kohli JUST survived a catch, Rahane goes for 2, so confused about the lbw he did not realize the ball was lodged IN HIS PAD. At 30 for 3, India ave 10 per wicket. That won't work well when chasing 300.
New Zealand's bowlers are right on top. Can they keep there, or can India put together another amazing recovery & run chase like game #3?
This is humiliating experience for all Indian fans and calls for rolling of heads now. Series after series , match after match , same story unfolds before us and renders all indian fans with such utter shame.I wonder if this will ever end with the kind of stubborn management we have.
PATHETIC display by our team yet again. Bowlers cannot do anything right and our openers. Well - yet again it has been proved that Sharma and Dhawan just cant handle it. POLLOCK of SA picked a weakness in ROHIT - Rohit does not play the ball at the correct angle and therefore gives catches.
I had always a big question mark over the capability of this no 1 ODI ranked team India. They are now being whitewashed by Newzeland after 3-O thrashing by SA.Fooh..We have already whitewashed Newzeland 2 times 4-0 and 3-0 very recently.I want to see India not above no 4 in ODI ranking.
Last time we won 4-1 and this time NZ gets away with 4-0 may be.. not to worry, we will bounce back again in world cup and we will keep em quite!! Like we won the champions trophy in England without loosing a single match!!! BTW Srilankans and Pakistanis can keep winning in their home towns only forever!
I am wondering why ppl say include pandey any blaming dhoni!
one thing all should understand is, if someone is picked to play for national team from many competitors then they have the ability to deliver. with that faith they are given another chance to prove..
So i have a short memory, but when was the last time we won a game outside (any format). Also i am a big fan of Rahane as an odi player, he has an average of 23 and SR of 71 after playing 20 odd games, surely one of upcoming greats who would always be part of the team even if he was not from M
So disappointed with the Indian team. They need some serious change and commitment if they want to continue as a top ranked team.Their performance in the past 3 months has been pathetic , its time they bring in Pujara and some other players and show some class instead of playing like losers with no motivation.Do some justice for the money you guys get paid. They have no chance of retaining the world cup!
Good job Rohit and Shikhar. You have cast of the good player mask you were wearing in 2013 and now you are back to who you really are.
Another game and another gigantic THRASHING awaits the overrated flat track bully Indian XI. I can get my street kids to shred the Indian bowling attack into pieces. I can even get street kids to get Indians all out in 10 overs. Uganda, Nepal, Afghanistan, UAE, Ireland and Netherlands deserve test status instead of the arrogant cricket bully India. Only umpires helped India from not getting whitewashed as umpires made howlers in India's favor in the 3rd ODI to make BCCI happy or face the consequences of Bucknor and Harper!
From the last two series it is very clear that we need a opening change. Gambir and Uthappa will be a great option. We need a fearless hitter like Shewag or Robin Uthappa. !!!
The time has come for Dhoni to step down from captaincy. He's becoming a liability after every game. He's acting over smart, well that's what he thinks anyway. Hie choice of players is POOR. The CSK gang is ruining Indian cricket. Ashwin is a club level bowler who wouldn't even make it into the Tamil Nadu XI as a spinner. He's more of a batsman who can bowl a bit of off break. Ravindra Jadeja is average and so are Shami, Aaron and Bhuvi. The batting is heavily reliant on Kohli and Dhoni outside of India. Dhawan, Rohit, Rahane are all mediocre players who can fool you on flat pitches. India need to first sack Duncan Fletcher and Joe Dawes before the world cup. Both of them have ruined Indian team. Kirsten did a splendid job a few years ago. So I squarely blame Dhoni and the coaches first and foremost. If we can't win against a no.8 ranked team, we have no hope for the world cup. 4-0 to NZ.
Bye bye Nohit. Taylor might have dropped him early on in the last game, but made no mistake today. (For Virat it is like opening again :) Nohit's ODI tour ODI ave: 29. Not what now would expect from a 200 run ODI scorer.
Dhawan has already come with inches of being caught, and is getting more edges that middling strokes. Will he settle in and manage one good innings for the series?
does it look like a series between no.8 team vs no.1 team ? no wonder india wants to play only top teams coz they could keep losing to lower ranked teams undermining the team's inflated performance in home conditions
ODI batsmen that India's players never ever ever want to see again in their entire careers: Quinton de Kock, 3 centuries in 3 matches, 342 runs, ave 114. Kane Williamson, 5 50s in 5 matches, 361 runs, ave 72.2. Ross Taylor, 2 centuries, 2 50s in 5 matches, 343 runs, ave 85.75.
And while on the subject, a special mention to the ODI bowler India never want to see again: Dale Steyn, 2 matches, 15 overs, 4 maidens, 42 runs, ave 7, econ 2.8, SR 15.
It has not been a good 2 months for India, has it?
Well another 300+ performance by Indian bowlers. Today spinners let MSD down. In test series both pacers and spinners will let MSD down. No matter whatever happens he will stick with Jadeja and Ashwin. Strange. Indian spin department never low like this. Indian team performance would have made AUS & NZ cricket board bit worried. Definitely this team will not get through to Super Six stage, which means a great revenue loss for the hosts & ICC. GOD bless AUS & NZ boards.
Dhoni is playing his game cleverly by not bowling out Ashwin/Bhuvi full quota of overs. He allows them to bowl full quota of runs which is around 35-45.
Shameful bowling performance by India once again - not sure if it is a question of the lack of a good bowling coach or simply a question of capability of the bowlers. We rated B Kumar very high after how well be bowled in Indian conditions but he has come up woefully short both in SA and in NZ where he was supposed to bowl substantially better. Same is true for Shami Ahmed as well. What has happened to them? Dhoni not trying Ishwar Pandey is almost unpardonable - especially after the series has been decided. He could have rested Shami Ahmed and brought in Ishwar Pandey. We would have at least seen what he is capable of. I know the selectors are not supposed to intervene once the tour is underway but I believe the chairman needs to have a word with Dhoni to understand what he is trying to do and convey their thinking on this.
What was the point in playing Binny for just one match? Also why not rest Shami and give Pandey a go? Fletcher and Dhoni have been inflexible - almost as if they just want to turn on the comfort mode or autopilot and cruise. This is evident since the WC 2011 win. India have been bad not just in tests but ODIs as well when playing overseas. Why is Dhoni insisting on fielding? If batting and bowling don't click then what can the best fielders do? Jadeja, Rohit, Raydu and Raina have dropped catches and they are fine fielders. It is time for change. India should play to their strengths and find spinners. Then swing bowlers. If a real talent emerges in fast bowling - so be it. No pace academy will be able to build an Ambrose or Brett Lee or a Waqar. Hire Vass as the bowling coach and martin Crowe as consultant. Then build. Whatever Ganguly-Wrght-Kirsten-Dhoni built is falling apart.
Poor performance of the Indian bowlers is mainly due to lack of wickets in the middle overs... In most of the matches (barring few), the pace bowlers starts well picking one or two wickets without giving too many...but the real problem starts with the introduction of spin... Ashwin seems to have lost his bowling...the thing which happened to Harbajan singh has happened to Ashwin as well... Bowling an average speed of 90s means, he is aiming to keep a decent economy rate rather picking wickets... This means, batsmen takes this time to settle and flourish in the end... This will continue as long as Dhoni looks beyond Ashwin...Alas he won't do that!
4-0 on the way
Two new balls from both ends has made look indian fast bowlers muster economical figures but with the used ball in the death overs they get hit all around. Varun/Shami is still economical keeping in view the normal bowling figures by indian bowlers. Kohli was tamed by NZ quite well with some respect and the rest hitting. Now lets see the chase.
Williamson is rapidly approaching world class. Since October 2013 - his scores:
Tests: 114,74,62,45,58,56 One dayers: 8,47,16,71,77,65,60,88 Average: 60 (no not outs)
Conversion rate to 100s is the next frontier for Williamson.
Great signs for NZ cricket with Taylor and Williamson reaching their potential. Add a firing Ryder into the mix and our test line up looks strong too (except for opening batters as per usual and spinner).
India performance in South Africa and now in New Zealand shows that why they want to play in India only
Williamson is the glue in the NZ batting. Ryder, Guptil and Mc Cullum, need to change their approach / technique /attitude as they are being shown up by their team's No 3 and 4 who have been world class.
India will win this match by 10 wkts, within 38 overs. Mark my word.
After an excellent start, when it looked like India's bowlers were beginning to show the form they so desperately need, once again "things fell apart" and Ross Taylor & Kane Williamson systematically dismantled India's attack, decimating the spinners for whom the pitch offered little, especially bowling first, & frustrating the pace bowlers who sought endlessly for a solution instead of good old line and length. The figure that tells all is that Virat Kohli's dibbly dobbly 7 overs were the cheapest by almost run an over. No other bowler conceded under 6 an over in a poor display, exacerbated by sloppy fielding and shelled catches.
If India's batsmen can't find a way to dominate the NZ attack on a pitch that is no batting paradise, India will complete a record breaking fall that truly exposes glaring weaknesses. Over to you, India's batsmen, Salvage some pride or consign your ODI team to the laughing stock of the top of the table. Last chance to shed the tag of home track bullies
india ill win this match ....
India started off pretty well with Shami and Bhuvi. The middle overs were lost since we had Ashwin and Jadeja. With pace around 147 to 150 kph Aaron bowled pretty well. The problem was Ashwin snd Jadeja are not wicket-takers. I am not surprised that Mishra was not tried out.
You cannot question the pace of Aaron who peaked at 150 kph. Over the last 70s years we never had Yadav and Aaron at this pace. Aaron is also reasonably accurate. For the T20 World Cup we would like to see Aaron and Yadav together.
In india, this team can easily chase 350 score... but outside india, its difficult to chase even 225. This match goes to NZ for sure. well played NZ
good bowling by varon ...better then ishant. now match depends on opning parternship by dhawan n rohit....wait n watch
Williamson has been exceptional throughout the series...finaly NZ registered some convincing wins...it seems they are overcoming the bad phase.....long way to go kiwis...WC'15 is around the corner...
Yet another chase of 300+ waiting for India. It being the norm these days, india are expected to cross the line. Dhoni very rightly reverted to the chasing formula which is the only ploy which earns them a win. Let's wait and see how much of dhoni will be needed in this chase. But with indian hitting abilities and the fact that they have chased with some purpose and in fact the only good thing they could do on this tour. Also a good chance for NZ to beat india here and carry momentum into the test series. Henry's inclusion also created a lot of interest. Let's see how he keeps the promise. May be a good allrounder in the making.
williamson has been exceptional throughout the series....finally it seems NZ is overcoming the bad phase....
NZ has true wickets and low boundaries , no matter how good you are as a bowler , you're bound to go for runs but Indian Bowlers are generous than most others around the world .
Series to finish at 4-0 and thanks to Sir. Jadeja for saving India from whitewash :)
Wow india have the best bowling attack in the world... :) It will be 4-0 most probably :).....
Sorry indian fans..!!! its 4-0.
Money minded Board, mindless captain,Brainless bowling, thoughtless coaches and Thinkless players this is our team ..mindblowing performence by our team, so dont take account if our team wins at home...
Same story. Another big chase for India. Bowling again not able to contain NZ or get wickets at a reasonable rate. All credit to NZ batsmen for building another strong total--about what you'd expect from a decent batting side on this pitch. Would be good to see India's batsmen really go after this total. The pitch is a good batting track and they should be able to get there. But they should have managed similar totals earlier in this series and came up short, so I'm not feeling optimistic about India chasing NZ down in this final match.
Wow , What a performance by Indian Bowlers. what a consistency.. Almost every match 300 is a target and you cant blame a single bowler all are given 6 runs per over. What a planned execution. Being an Indian fan Once again disappointed to see the field placement and fielding. Hope India loses this match too
That sums up another poor bowling effort, India desperately in need of a good strike bowler or bowlers, Indian Cricket needs to encourage bowlers a little as in India batsman take all the lime light so no one wants to be a bowler. Need to decrease commerce and add cricket, I still think they have one of the best batting as they have been reaching close to victory despite of huge totals and poor bowling. They have made it all about batting that even their tail enders and bowlers score 50s and 100s but are their batsmen capable of taking wickets? Wickets is the question needs to be answered. Being a Pakistani I dont like Kohli, I mean what the hell man how can someone perform that consistently!
MSD Please don't blame the fast bowlers, they have bowled their heart out. It's your ineffective spinners and your unimaginative defensive captaincy that has lead the matches to drift away throughout the series. Ashwin's ineffectiveness is summed up when MSD uses Kohli in death overs, when Ashwin has four overs left. This not just one off match for Ashwin, its happening throughout the SA and NZ series. If he is in the team only for batting, then play a proper batsman in his place. In the test matches please please please play Varun Aaron in his place, he was really quick today and looked like taking wickets. He can be used as an impact bowler.
Drop Shami immediately. Wasted talent. Fire Joe Dawes as well. The man has done nothing to help our bowlers. Keep Aaron and Bhuvi. But Shami and Ishant must be sent home immediately.
yet another 200 under 40 overs by opposition.. remember NZ were only 41/2 after 13 overs.. as I have mentioned earlier Aaron is just a refreshing replacement for Ishant.. not necessarily economical. Shami's first spell was good. in his second spell he is back to Indian bowling standards.. just wishing he finishes at 10 overs under 50 runs and 3 wkts to show. ashwin.. less said about his bowling..the better. He has already booked his place for next twenty matches with the fifty he scored in the 3rd ODI. so is jadeja. would surely be chasing 320, if not more. Binny finds himself out for no wrong he did in the last match.. let us hope that it is 3-1 rather than 4-0.
Regardless the result of this match, I am going to stop following India cricket as long as Dhoni is captain. This is no way to treat a newcomer. Stuart Binny is played for one match , not allowed to bat and given just one over and dropped? If Prasanna, Chandrashekar, Bedi and Venkatraghavan or Kapil Dev and Gavaskar were made to play their initial international matches under someone like Dhoni, they would never have come to be known for what they were capable. This is absolutely disgusting.
Ashwin is a club level bowler. Why does Dhoni keep playing him ?? Even Yusuf Pathan can bowl better off spin than Ashwin. And Yusuf is a power hitter - not scared of any fast bowler.
Same old story, why is Dhoni so stubborn. Why not give chance to zmishra and Ishwar Pandey. A fluke half century by Ashwin and his place is permanent. What a pain to see this so called spinner clotted all over the stadium. Too pathetic by the team management. God only save Indian cricket now.
India need to improve their bowling attack keeping infact that they are the world champions and the 2015 world cup will be helding in this part. you cant rely on ur batsman everywhere you go, being a world champion side u need go be good in every department of the game if you are looking to dominate the cricketing world for a long period of time.
Dhoni blunders ofter blunders and williamson nd taylor making lot of runs in thr caarrier, why he is sticking with ashwin nd jadeja,,? why mishra in the team..? why dhoni giving easy runs to opposition batsmen..? wht a captain .. still not learning with his past mistakes..
Disappointing return for Ryder in this series. No doubt about the natural talent but the technique has been found wanting and it is difficult to see him producing consistent scores at international level without making some adjustments.
This is really not good from the selectors. After so much in consistency from Ashwin, Mishra did deserve a match. All he does is sits on the bench for no reason in the series. He would be better of playing some first class cricket for his state team.
I see that Dhoni has removed India's strike 'spin' bowler, Ashwin, after 6 listless overs and replaced him with Kohli. After losing this match, he will blame it on part-timers for the loss.
Dhoni again happy to contain the batsmen rather than looking for wickets. In a seaming pitch he brings Ashwin to bowl who avgs 33 in List A matches with not even a single 4 wicket haul.
Dhoni should have bowled Shami to look for wickets.
ashwin has not been able to get wickets. Neither has he made significant contribution with the bat. I don't think he is a good prospect oveeseas. Jadeja on the other hand is classical left arm spin. But if ashwin is played in tes matchest. we are gonna have the same result we had in the south africa from him. Binny is the man to go definetly along with jadeja and 3 other fast bowlers. India will be able to do well in the test format
This game is really interesting. Dhoni again opted Ashwin ahead of Mishra, though the former yet to take a 4 wicket or 5 wicket haul even in domestic matches. On the top of that he gives away 5 runs per over. Heck of a bowler to have.
And Ashwin averages 33 in domestic List A matches. Mishra's is 23
Disappointed by Aaron's rather brainless bowling. He is bowling at 145 to 150 KPH but every ball is short asking to be hit. Dhoni needs to talk to Aaron & tell him to improve his length because he is the costiliest bower after some fine opening spell by Shami & kumar. Ashwin for some unknown reason has shifted to leg stump attack again after attacking the off stump in the last ODI . He is also proving expensive, Dhoni needs to tell both the bowlers what wrong they are doing.Things after lokking rosy are again slipping out of hand of India. If they take this route they will lose again. 101 for 2 after 22 over looks poor after such affine start. Why din;t these 2 bowlers use their head?
Aaron was bowling really quick today but then was just leaking too many runs. He juat needs to get his line and length right and the wickets will start comming.
R. Aswhin as an ODI bowler has never took a 4-wicket haul even in domestic List A matches. And he gives 5 runs per over. No wicket taking ability in ODIs and marginally contains the opposition.
Mishra has an bowling avg of 23 in odi's and has many 4and 5 wicket haul when compared to Ashwin terrible 33 bowl avg with not even a single 4 wicket haul.
So who is better?
Pretty sure about the ICC's next resolution. If any country wants a tournament with India, the pitch needs to be at the standard what the India is seeking for. Otherwise they will not play and you wont receive money. Consequently, any one of Big three wont come to your country. God bless cricket.
Indian pace bowlers have looked like they belong to a different team today. Shami & Bhuvi look like inspired, and much improved players. This is, for India, a welcome relief from the unthreatening club bowling they have been dishing out. Perhaps not enough to tie NZ down, but a sign of hope at least!
What is wrong with the Dhoni? Last match he did good by making 2 changes after a long long time and after 1 match he dropped Stuart Binny without giving him proper chance. I am not sure what Binny was doing in the last match? Being a genuine all-rounder, he didn't get chance to bat and just got chance to ball SIX balls (1 over) in the match. He deserves a place in this match.
This is insane..untill dhoni stays in the team as skipper no feature for new guys..what did binny do wrong??i think even though rishi was selected he too could have recieved same treatment.totally disgusting..
Seems to be just another indian defeat. Till 2011 World Cup, India won overseas and many more tournaments because we had real match winners in the team. What I mean by match winners is that India always had atleast minimum 5 to 6 players in the team who had the ability to change the course of the game single handedly.. We had players like tendulkar, sehwagh, gambhir, yuvi, harbhajan, ganguly, Kumble, zak, who were on their peak for a long time and these players made a huge difference being competitive and winning games every where. Current indian team has only 2 match winners dhoni and kohli.... Besides champions trophy last year, current team has played some miserable cricket. It's understandable that current team is still in transition and lotta players are trying to find their mark, but I never expected such a horrible performance from a #1 or now a #2 team. Please publish cricinfo.
Neesham is a big joke! He can't hit stumps within two feet. How he is supposed to bowl to wicket from 22 yards?
