• Michigan had three players in double figures for points in the game: Zack Novak (12), Trey Burke (11) and Evan Smotrycz (10).

• Zack Novak scored in double digits for the third straight game, netting 12 points against the Cavaliers. He tallied 11 against No. 6 Duke and a career-high 22 against UCLA at the Maui Invitational.

• Novak led the team with eight points in the first half. He hit both three-point attempts and a jumper to finish 3-of-5 in the opening half.

• Freshman point guard Trey Burke posted 11 points and four assists. He has scored in double digits in five of his past six games.

• Burke tallied seven points and three assists in the opening half. He hit one three ball, two free throws and a jumper.

• Forward Evan Smotrycz reached double figures in points (10) for the third time this season. He tallied five points in each half. Smotrycz posted a season-best 14 points in the opener against Ferris State.

• Guard Tim Hardaway Jr., the Big Ten Player of the Week last week, was held to a season-low five points. Hardaway sat out the final 14:27 of the first half after picking up his second foul. He scored his first points of the game, a three-pointer from the top of the circle, at 13:38 of the second half.

• Former U-M All-American guard Phil Hubbard attended tonight's game at UVA. He made an appearance on the pre-game radio show with Matt Shepard and David Merritt.

• Michigan started the same lineup for the sixth straight game: G/F Zack Novak, G Trey Burke, G Tim Hardaway Jr., F Evan Smotrycz and F Jordan Morgan.

• Stu Douglass played in his 109th consecutive game without missing a game. He finished with nine points on two three-pointers and a three-point play.

• With the score tied at 41 apiece, UVA used a 12-0 to take a 53-41 lead between the 10- and six-minute mark in the second half.

• Michigan held Virginia to seven field goals (7-23) and 30.4 percent shooting in the first half.

• With the setback, Michigan dropped to 4-7 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

• This was the first time that U-M played UVA in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
