Features

Do we really need another checkbook manager?

There are certainly lots of checkbook managers out there. Intuit makes the Quicken package, which is very capable. However, Quicken is expensive and too bloated with features for what I really want out of a checkbook balancer. Plus it won't run on Linux.

I've used CBB for years and have been happy with it. I wanted a checkbook manager that I could run on every computer I had, whether it was a Windows Laptop, and Macintosh, or a Linux workstation. I also wanted simple features.

GnuCash is looking better and better each day. But I really didn't need all of the features it provides, I didn't want to have to get my system administrator to install it on my Linux box at work, and I couldn't install it on my Windows laptop.

For these reasons, a small program like PyCheckbook is best for me. It may also be best for you; if so, you're welcome to use it. If not, there are many other good packages in release.
