Universe Freeze is in effect

Hello everybody,

coinciding with the Beta release of Ubuntu 6.10, the Universe Freeze is
now in effect. This means that

      * no new Upstream Versions and
      * no new packages

are allowed to go into Ubuntu Universe now.

Of course you can file a UVF exception in important cases. The process
for this is explained here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Processes/UVF

Reinhard Tartler and Sebastian Dröge fortunately agreed to go through
the list of exceptions with me and try to get this done in a timely
manner - Andrew Mitchell will replace Sebastian in the first days where
he's on vacation. We agreed that with a vote of two of us we consider a
UVF exception request as approved. This will speed things up
considerably.

Please make sure you attach all the necessary information and in cases
of NEW packages have it reviewed and approved on REVU beforehand! To
illustrate why this is strictly necessary: last cycle I had a total of
1675 mails concerning Universe UVF exceptions.

Thanks a lot, have a nice day,
 Daniel
