I found a fantastic quote that I have to save, though it's only funny (or really irritating) to computer programmers.
Question: What's the difference between Java and Javascript?
One is essentially a toy, designed for writing small pieces of code, and traditionally used and abused by inexperienced programmers.
The other is a scripting language for web browsers.

Oh I know, and I agree with you. :-) The Netscape people were all agog over Java and decided the scripting language they were putting in their browser had to have a neat name, and because Java was so all-that at the time (and it seemed like it would largely run in browsers, not on serves like it does now), they decided to call it 'Javascript', which in retrospect was a pretty dumb decision. Marketing people, who can figure?
Standards bodies are even worse though. The standards body that finally got around to standardizing Javascript decided it ought to be renamed 'ECMAScript'. And, of ccourse, that's gone over like a lead balloon.
But I still think the quote is funny. I really don't like Java very much. :-)
