Innovative product management professional with 20 years experience in the technology and financial service industries. A strong leader, strategic thinker and team builder who knows how to get things done.
Corey is passionate about helping entrepreneurs that need assistance making connections to accelerate through business challenges. Corey experienced first-hand many similar challenges when he co-founded Planning Initiatives, LLC – a city planning consulting firm – at the age of 24. In his current role as the Director of Statewide Programs for NetWork Kansas, Corey gets to leverage debt and equity funds and technical assistance resources to provide entrepreneurs with expanded opportunities to be successful.
Corey holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and economics from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters in Business Administration from Baker University.
Jenn Shaw is Founder of NYTechWomen and Bella Minds and former Senior Data Analyst for comScore. Jennifer hales from rural Nebraska, and uses her All-American roots as fuel for empowering people to leverage technology and improve the state of STEM education and workforces in the US. Ms. Shaw quickly established NYTechWomen as the authority for women in tech in the NYC area. With Bella Minds, she is leading the way to educating rural areas of the US and tackling the urgent need of increased participation and attainment rates. Jennifer is a recognized innovator by several NYC-based ventures, and has spoken at TEDxHobokenWomen. Her mission remains focused in mentoring opportunities and empowering women who are serious about the technology sector.
Michele Markey is Vice President of Kauffman FastTrac, a global provider of educational programs that equip aspiring and established entrepreneurs with the business skills and insights, tools, resources, and networks to start and grow successful businesses. Kauffman FastTrac was created by the Kauffman Foundation, the largest foundation whose mission is to advance entrepreneurship as a key to growing economies and expanding human welfare.
Michele has been a guest contributor for MSNBC, MarketWatch, Bloomberg News, AARP and many other national and local publications. Additionally, she has been a featured expert for the American Management Association and has worked with hundreds of businesses to develop their business growth strategies including American Airlines, University of California Berkley, The Gap, Sprint and Coca Cola. Michele is also recognized as a thought leader in the areas of female entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship as a next career for people over the age of 50
Dan brings a background in public accounting and finance consulting to the startup and entrepreneurial community. He believing that the true value of accounting and finance lies in the ability to use that data to drive companies forward, rather than just as a compliance requirement. Dan strives to provide timely insights into a company's financial position, and to educate and work alongside founders to provide both strategic and operational direction. Professionally he is a Certified Public Accountant and a Xero Partner, and has participated in or advised on the accounting operations of over 100 public and privately-held companies.
Chris counsels businesses and startups on matters including business formation, intellectual property, real estate, contract negotiation and drafting, and equity financing. He mentors entrepreneurs through various organizations in Kansas City including Startup Weekend, the UMKC Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Innovative Professionals for Entrepreneurs. Chris attended law school in his hometown at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and graduated magna cum laude with an emphasis in Business and Entrepreneurial Law. Prior to beginning law school, Chris worked in the music business in Nashville and New York City.
Jill is Senior Technology Development and Commercialization Specialist with the Small Business Technology and Development Center at University Missouri Kansas City (UMKC). A specialist in technology commercialization, strategy development, financing and business development, Jill brings a practical perspective to supporting entrepreneurs and their businesses to impact change and drive profit. Jill works with technology companies at all stages to assist in innovation, product development, grant and capital sourcing, management improvement and revenue growth. Her experience as an executive coach as well as business driver further insures the implementation of new company strategies. Prior to joining the SBTDC, Jill was an entrepreneur herself, as well as a senior member of the management team for a global company charged with developing strategy, technology and execution to launch an online division for a traditional business. Jill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Public Policy Studies from Duke University and a MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern.
