To our members, teachers, students and creative people everywhere,

It is with heavy hearts we announce that after seven wonderful years of serving our community, 3rd Ward is closing its doors. We are tremendously saddened and apologetic to see the very people we opened this space to serve, and who made it so vibrant, scattered on such short notice. We hope that you will find a place in the greater NY creative community so you can continue to do the good work that has put Brooklyn on the map while making our world a little more interesting each day.

Over the last couple of days there has been an outpouring of support, as well as clear concerns and critiques and we take it all to heart. We are happy to have tried a new idea and still believe in the makers, teachers and trail blazers who came through our doors over the years. When we opened in 2006, our vision was to create a shared space for our community of artists and entrepreneurs to have a place to work, learn, network and thrive. We're proud to have been able to do that for as long as we did.

Yet, due to a series of unfortunate events, we are no longer able to remain in business in spite of our best efforts. In the coming weeks we will be working tirelessly with our creditors and other stakeholders to seek the best possible outcome for the entire 3rd Ward community.

Our immediate priority is to make sure that our members are able to collect their belongings before our doors officially close. We will have open hours for members as follows:

  • Friday October 11th, 10am-6pm
  • Saturday October 12th, 9am-1pm
  • Sunday October 13th, 12pm-4pm
  • Monday October 14th, 10am-6pm
  • Tuesday October 15th, 10am-6pm

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at help@3rdward.com . As we are operating with limited staff, please be aware that we will answer your email as quickly as possible, but your patience is appreciated.

All the best,

Jason -
3rd Ward
