On October 2015 the Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino and the Palestinian Minister of Local Government Hussein Al Araj, in Torino to take part in the 3rd World Forum on Local Economic Development, signed a Cooperation Agreement between the city of Torino and the City of Bethlehem supporting local development in the fields of water management and commerce.

The Agreement followed a Letter of Intents expressing the will of reinforcing the cooperation between the two cities, signed on May 20th 2015 by the Mayor of the City of Torino Piero Fassino and the Mayor of Bethlehem Vera Baboun.
