How do they really make you feel? Would you like to talk about it?

:-)

This post is probably not a real cry for help but just in case, some insider (ok its a couple of years old but recently confirmed still relevant) info...

TDMS (Technical, Data & Multimedia Services) are the team to speak with. They're based in T-Mobile's Greenock (Scotland) call centre (did you know some of the UKs largest, most powerful and dangerous conger eels are to be found in the section of the river Clyde immediately out the back windows of the building? A boat from the nearby Tate & Lyle sugar refinary capsized a few decades back, totally screwing up the local conger eels and their decendants apparently).

The TDMS group are an amalgamation of the previous TDMS (2nd line) and THD (Technical HelpDesk, 3rd Level) so it really is pot luck if you get a clued up person or not. Have no fear of the less (hah!) techie folks, the knowledge base (called Merlin, is this the most common name for an application? Every company i've ever worked for, and every company my friends work for has a system / application called Merlin) is really very good and will guide them through solving most problems.

I just can't remember the name of the interface for controlling all aspects of the voicemail (and notifications) system, but i can see it in my minds eye, it's truely ghastly.

TMobile suck, i'll bring the petrol if you're bringing the matches?

I'm actually in the US at the moment, so I suspect that there's some unfortunate interaction between Orange (my home network) sending the notification and T-Mobile (who I'm roaming with) picking up the fact that I've received it.

Something similar occurred to Clive while on holiday in France. Kinnison sent him a text, which he then went on to receive once every half an hour or so until he returned to the UL.

Three offer a choice of obnoxious text message, nothing, or causing the Voicemail indicator on my phone's LCD to light up. I'm guessing O2 offer the last option too, which is less intrusive than a stupid text message, since it's been supported in the UK since at least 2001.

it's weird that they are coming so regular since I have found that text message transmission attempts usually seem to back off exponentially, eg wait twice (or x times) as long after each failed attempt

Ah, USA and GSM. Two things that have never and will never work together properly.
