OAKLAND: Less than 10 minutes before Game 5 of the NBA Finals began on Monday night with his team trailing three games to one, there was LeBron James looking as calm as could be, dancing along the 3-point line as the music blared through the speakers at Oracle Arena and the sellout crowd at the Warriors home stadium prepared to roar to life.
On a night that musical moguls P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg and E-40 lined the front row in Oakland and cast members from the hit musical “Hamilton” sang the national anthem, James hit all the right notes, doing everything he could to send the series back to Cleveland and extend the season for at least one more game.
After the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA title, the Golden State Warriors went out and acquired Kevin Durant. That proved to be the difference this year.
The Cleveland Cavaliers may have lost the NBA Finals 4-1 to the Golden State Warriors, but LeBron James still made a bit of history.
OAKLAND: For the second time in as many years, the Cavaliers found themselves at Oracle Arena, playing Game 5 of the NBA Finals, staring at a 3-1 deficit.

OAKLAND, Calif.: Whether it’s his lightning quick dribble, supreme confidence that doesn’t seem to waver or ability to score from almost anywhere on the court, Kyrie Irving seems to be at his best when things look the bleakest for the Cavaliers.
CLEVELAND: Game 3 provided the formula, if not a victory.
CLEVELAND: The Cavaliers will step onto the Oracle Arena court on Monday facing elimination in a Game 5 of the NBA Finals for the second year in a row.
Last year the Cavs won Game 5 in Oakland, Game 6 in Cleveland and Game 7 in Oakland to erase a 3-1 deficit and beat the Golden State Warriors for the title.
Can they do it again?
CLEVELAND: Pride and history collided Friday night, and pride prevailed.
CLEVELAND: For one night, the Cavaliers were the “juggernaut” and the Golden State Warriors were the ones playing catch-up.
The defending champion Cavs relied on the shot-making abilities of Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Kevin Love and J.R. Smith to earn a 137-116 victory in Game 4 of the 2017 NBA Finals at Quicken Loans Arena.
Game 5 is Monday night in Oakland. The Warriors hold a 3-1 series lead.
James and Irving, who both recently dubbed the Warriors a “juggernaut,” played starring roles in a record-setting performance before a sellout crowd of 20,562 that included Mark Price, Shaquille O’Neal, Joe Haden and Joe Thomas.
As they pondered the menu, there were helpful servers ready to answer any questions.
CLEVELAND: He still rarely says Dan Gilbert’s name, but LeBron James spoke about the infamous letter the Cavaliers owner wrote in Comic Sans after James left Cleveland for the Miami Heat in 2010.
Well that’s more like it.
The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors 137-116 in Game 4 at Quicken Loans Arena Friday night.
CLEVELAND: Within an hour after a tough loss on Wednesday in Game 3 of the 2017 NBA Finals, Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving faced the media feeling a little chilly.
“I apologize if I’m shivering,” Irving said. “I just got out of the cold tub. So don’t think I’m like getting sensitive on you guys. Just pretty cold.”
Irving and LeBron James both gave valiant efforts, but the defending champion Cavs had just come up short in a 118-113 loss at Quicken Loans Arena to the Golden State Warriors, who are 15-0 in this years playoffs.
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry combined to score the game’s final 11 points as the Warriors erased a 113-107 deficit with 3:10 to go in the fourth quarter.
