OverDrive is a free service offered by your library or school that lets you borrow eBooks, audiobooks, and more from their digital collections. Every OverDrive collection is slightly different because each library or school staff picks the digital content they want for their collection.
All you need to get started with free digital titles from OverDrive is an internet connection and a library card or student ID.
Explore the sections below to learn about some of the things you can do with OverDrive.
Visit overdrive.com to find libraries or schools near you, plus links to browse their OverDrive collections directly.
Or, browse OverDrive's catalog of over two million digital titles (eBooks, audiobooks, periodicals, and videos) on the "Explore our collection" page. You can also search for a specific title, author, or series in OverDrive's catalog. You'll be able to try samples (available for most titles), and when you find a title you'd like to borrow, you can see if it's owned by your library or school.
If you don't see your library or school on overdrive.com, that may mean your library or school isn't purchasing digital titles through OverDrive yet. Ask a library staff member or a teacher at your school to visit our company website for more information about building a digital collection through OverDrive.
For many eBooks, audiobooks, and videos, you won't need to install any extra software to start reading, listening, or watching what you've borrowed. With OverDrive Read, OverDrive Listen, and OverDrive's streaming video, you can just open and enjoy these titles in your browser.
Note: Some digital formats may not be available from all libraries.
