31,449 full time jobs in the state—more than 50% non-construction related.  These DC residents earn $741.9 million annually and contribute $135 million in local, state, and federal taxes.

119,288 full time jobs in the state in key industries like tourism, trucking, retail sales, agriculture and manufacturing are completely dependent on the state’s transportation infrastructure network.  These DC residents earn $4 billion annually and contribute $786 million in state taxes.

429 miles of DC’s major roads — nearly the equivalent of driving from the White House to New York City and back — are in poor condition.

Driving on poor roads costs the average DC motorist $1,061 per year in vehicle repairs and wasted fuel.

10 bridges in DC are classified as structurally deficient. This means one or more of the key bridge elements, such as the deck, superstructure or substructure, is considered to be in “poor” or worse condition by government inspectors. These bridges are crossed 25 thousand times each day.

Placed end-to-end, there is 1 mile of structurally deficient bridges in DC. 5 of these bridges have weight restrictions in place.

State and local governments in DC spent $32 million on bridge repair and construction contracts over the past five years.
