Peachland will celebrate its recovery from the flood on July 29.

Town council has earmarked $2,500 for the community celebration, to take place in Heritage Park. Plans, still being developed, include a free barbecue, bouncy castle, waterslide and other family entertainment.

“It’s an appreciation event,” Mayor Cindy Fortin said Wednesday. “It’s a chance for the community to come together and thank everyone who helped us get through this difficult time.”

The event starts at 4 p.m. and will lead into an already-planned outdoor movie night, with the film A Dog’s Purpose to be shown on a large screen in Heritage Park.
