EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Vikings announced Thursday that they have signed free agent running back Latavius Murray.

Murray, who is entering his fifth professional season, had 195 carries for 788 yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns for the Oakland Raiders in 2016.

A sixth-round draft pick in 2013, Murray has 543 career carries for 2,278 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Murray spent the past four seasons with Oakland. He injured his foot during training camp in 2013 and missed his entire rookie season.

Murray blossomed when he became the Raiders No. 1 back in 2015 when he had 266 carries for 1,066 yards and six scores and made his first Pro Bowl. He rushed 12 times for 48 yards and added five receptions for 29 yards against Minnesota that season.

The 27-year-old has five career 100-yard games on the ground. He also has 91 career catches for 639 yards.

Murray played collegiately at Central Florida, where he had 453 carries for 2,424 yards and 37 touchdowns.

Murray joins a Vikings rushing attack that ran for the fewest yards per game (75.3) in 2016 and finished last in yards per attempt (3.2).
