There's a lot of potential smash hits on this record and it's just a very well done album when it comes to production, lyrics, melodies and originality.. Avicii IS the best thing from Sweden since Abba and Roxette.

Das neue Avicii Album! Ein Meisterwerk?! Ich habe mir ehrlich gesagt gedacht hier würde es 6*er Hageln...aber nein. Es ist ein starkes Album...für mich war es ja eine Konkurrenz für Calvin Harris super Album "18 Months"! "True" kann meiner Meinung aber nicht mithalten...Sicherlich eines der besseren Alben des Jahres...aber das Beste?! Nöö...den Platz für das beste Album released 2013 gehört "Stars Dance" - Selena Gomez...
Aber ab jetzt wird es ja Alben Hagel!^^ :D |

Durchwegs stark bis sehr stark und eigentlich keine Ausfälle. Gefällt mir sehr! Sowohl stimmlich als auch stilmäßig eine Abwechslungen, was sicherlich positiv hervorzuheben ist.
6* kann ich trotzdem keine geben, hab ich aber auch nicht erwartet. 5* aber auf jeden Fall! |

Ich habe nicht wirklich sehnsüchtig auf das erste Avicii-Album gewartet, zumal mir "Wake Me Up" zwar gefällt, ich es aber keineswegs zu den besten Songs des Jahres zählen würde.
Trotzdem war ich gespannt, was der schwedische DJ noch so aus dem Hut zaubern würde. Letztendlich entsteht Abwechslung großteils durch die unterschiedlichen GastsängerInnen wie Aloe Blacc, Audra Mae und viele andere, die ihre Sache stets gut machen, während Avicii selbst insbesondere bei den Strophen mit seiner Produktionskunst überzeugen kann, im Refrain aber viel zu oft viel zu ähnlich klingt, was auf Albumlänge schließlich doch etwas ermüdend wirkt.
Alles in allem ist "True" ein kurzweiliges House/Dance-Album, das man problemlos von vorne bis hinten ohne Skipbedürfnis durchhören kann. Meine nicht all zu hohen Erwartungen wurden erfüllt, tatsächlich sogar ein klein wenig übertroffen, weil ich schon befürchtet hatte, das Album würde randvoll mit "Wake Me Up"-Abklatschen sein, was nicht der Fall ist.
Meine persönlichen Album-Highlights sind, wie oben ersichtlich, "Heart Upon My Sleeve", "Shame On Me" und "Hey Brother". |

I was surprised to enjoy this as much as I did. So many different sounds and they all work well, both together on the album and as individual tracks. It's a very interesting listen and there are some very enjoyable tracks. |

ich bin extrem positiv überrascht und vergebe fast die höchstpunktzahl. sehr abwechslungsreich und es macht einfach spaß zuzuhören. einziger abzug wegen des songs "shame on me" - zu unstrukturiert und nervös.

Ik ben niet zo wild van het nieuwe album van Avicii zoals de meesten hier. Het album bevat maar enkele goeie platen en de rest is rommel. Hij had beter een album uitgebracht met al z'n hitsingels tot nu toe zoals: Levels - Silhouettes - I Could Be The One - Penguin... |

nun ja, als grosser fan des schweden definitiv eine enttäuschung. wie konnte er den song "friends", der bereits seit monaten im netz rumgeisterte und den er bereits an festivals spielte, nur derart abändern? die vocals auf "liar liar" sind nun von aloe blacc, nicht mehr von joakim berg. die melodie ist total verändert. einfach schlechter. hatte mich dermassen auf den tune gefreut.
auch ansonsten gibt es wenige kracher. "you make me" oder "hey brother" gehören allenfalls noch dazu. aber von einem produzenten, der nun über ca. 4 jahre alles getötet hat, kommt hier definitiv zu wenig. kurz mal hingeschleudert, um möglichst gut abzukassieren, so ist zumindest mein eindruck. massenware, wenn auch auf hohem niveau. |

Admittedly I was very underwhelmed by "Wake Me Up" and subsequently I wasn't looking forward to the album. When "You Make Me" was released it was really instant and I grew to love it in a few weeks after first listen and I regained interest in the album.
It's nowhere near the best album I've heard but it is solid. "You Make Me" is the obvious standout but "Addicted To You", "Liar Liar" and "Dear Boy" are my next favourites. Unfortunately the awful "Hey Brother" really lets the album down a lot and so does the aforementioned lead single "Wake Me Up". Apart from those two songs nothing else is under 4 stars so job well done.
It isn't as good as some of his best efforts like "Levels", "I Could Be The One" or "Seek Bromance" but I do like it. I'm really glad it didn't disappoint like "Wake Me Up" did. As far as the best album this year goes, it's not the best but it's one of the best.

Fantastisch album van de god van 2013: "Tim Bergling" of natuurlijk "Avicii" !!! Voor mij persoonlijk is "Avicii" dé revelatie van 2013 en dat komt allemaal uit dit album: "True" !!! Misschien minpuntje dat het betere "Levels" hierop ontbreekt !!! Maar afgerond toch vét voldoende hoor: 5 sterren !!! ☺ |

Avicii kann auf ein erfolgreiches Jahr zurückblicken. Ich selbst bin positiv überrascht, mit "Wake me up" landete er sogar in meiner Jahreswertung.
Das Album erreicht bei mir einen Schnitt von 3.5 den ich aufrunde, weil eben besser als erwartet.

I remember when Calvin harris first came out i was like meh yet another dance artist but then after time I enjoyed his work after much exposure.
Sure Avicii has been around for awhile now but the sudden saturation on radio has really left my with a strong distaste for his material now and i think that reflects strongly on my thoughts here.
Purely too much filler not enough top class anthems.

Habe mir das Album bereits am Release-Tag besorgt, aber irgendwie habe ich total vergessen, hier ein Review zu posten.
Das Jahr 2013 war definitiv ein gutes Jahr für den swedishen DJ Avicii. Während er bereits in den Jahren zuvor Hits landete, u.a. mit dem Überhit "Levels", veröffentlichte er letztes Jahr endlich sein Debut-Album "True". Da es DJs eigentlich schwer haben, auch Alben zu verkaufen, rechnete wohl niemand damit, dass das Album ein so grosser Erfolg wird. Kein Wunder - es ist vollgepackt mit Hits!
Neben den bekannten (zurzeit) vier Singles fetzt das Album mit Tracks wie "Dear Boy" (eine Single-Version und bitte fünfte Single!), das catchy "Liar Liar" oder das packende "Hope There's Someone". Irgendwie spannend zu sehen, dass Song #1 auf dem Album auch die erste Single war, Song #2 die Zweite, und so weiter. Mal schauen ob's mit "Dear Boy" klappt :)

Sometimes, I honestly don't know why I bother with Dance/EDM albums. It's not the type of music I generally like, and I usually buy based on one hit song I really like or a set of featured artist that i like. But then I buy the album and it has a lot of solo stuff just by the DJ and I just can't get into it like I should. This album is kinda like that for me.
The album is a bit uneven with songs I love and songs I hate (Hey Brother and Shame On Me are particularly bad, Wake Me Up is fantastic). I enjoyed some of the vocal work, particularly on Addicted To You and Long Road To Hell, and Edom is an interesting listen, and not something I would normally like, so I'm surprised by that. But the songs I hate really let this down.

Spät aber doch habe auch ich mir endlich das ganze Debüt-Album von Avicii zu Gemüte geführt. „True“ ist ein ganz nettes Album und hat für mich ein paar recht eingängige Songs und nur einen groben Schnitzer (Hope There’s Someone) dabei, den ich aber verzeihen kann. Bei den meisten anderen Tracks habe ich mir gedacht: „Kann man hören, aber muss nicht sein“, 6*-Songs sind für mich keine dabei. Deshalb gibt es auch keine richtigen Highlights, am Besten gefallen mir noch das zu kurze Addicted To You, Liar Liar und You Make Me.
Insgesamt ein solides 4*-Album, das nicht weh tut. :) |

Das Album hat mich grösstenteils enttäuscht. Nur 10 Tracks, die meisten davon viel zu lange und neben den grossen und wirklich starken Hits "Wake me up" und "Hey brother" gibt es gar nichts, das positiv überrascht oder beeindruckt hätte. Wirklich schwach. |
