9.35pm: We thought the pink ball might be a leveller; instead, it seems to have helped flatten West Indies. That's as emphatic a first day's batting as England have delivered in the last five years, Alastair Cook's unbeaten hundred anchoring them to a ruddily healthy total against an ailing attack. West Indies couldn't make the pink ball do any tricks under the lights - although they did remove Joe Root, after an immaculate hundred of his own - and Dawid Malan, in particular, will have been glad for that. He'll be hoping to make his first significant mark on Test cricket with the sun shining again tomorrow afternoon. It's been historic, it's been fun, it's been... occasionally a bit shambolic. But England has now had a piece of day-night cricket. I'll leave you with Miller's report to read with your cocoa and pajamas; Gnasher and I will be back for more in the morning afternoon. Cheerio!

"Indeed Alan, KUDOS Cook! 3 more overs.... I feel stupid, when was last time he batted till close?" Good question, dan. Don't know off the top of my head - certainly having spent all day at the crease. One for the 'guru
