Meanwhile, Brad Paisley and Kem enjoy Top 5 debuts below "My Everything."

As reported earlier, Ariana Grande has scored her second No. 1 album in less than a year, as her new release, My Everything, opens atop the Billboard 200.
 
The album, which was released Aug. 25, sold 169,000 copies in the week ending Aug. 31, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In turn, My Everything scores the second-largest sales week for a female pop artist in 2014, after the debut of Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence (182,000).

My Everything follows Grande’s debut album, Yours Truly, which came out Sept. 2, 2013. It also started in the No. 1 slot, selling 138,000 copies in its first week.
 
Grande is the first woman to debut at No. 1 with her first two albums since 2010. Thelast woman to do so was Susan Boyle, who bowed atop the list with I Dreamed a Dream (released in 2009) and The Gift (2010).



Speaking of Boyle, she and Grande are two of only three women to have charted two different No. 1 albums in less than a year since SoundScan started powering the chart in May 1991. They join LeAnn Rimes, who did it with Unchained Melody/The Early Years and You Light Up My Life — Inspirational Songs in 1997. Justin Bieber, Jay Z, One Direction, Luke Bryan and Lil Wayne are among the other acts that have managed the feat.
 
Following Grande on the new Billboard 200 is country star Brad Paisley, who claims his ninth top 10 album with Moonshine in the Trunk debuting at No. 2 with 53,000. A chart-topping set still eludes Paisley, who is tied with Brooks & Dunn as the country artists with the most top 10 albums that also haven’t hit No. 1.
 
Behind Paisley is R&B; singer Kem, who starts at No. 3 with Promise to Love: Album IV, selling 52,000 copies in its first week. Kem’s last studio set, 2010’s Intimacy: Album III, started at No. 2 with 74,000.
 
The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack falls 2-4 with 48,000 (down 26 percent), Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour rises 7-5 with 30,000 (up 24 percent), and last week's No. 1, Wiz Khalifa's Blacc Hollywood, falls 1-6 with 30,000 (down 67 percent).
 
The soundtrack to Frozen moves 6-7 with 27,000 (down 5 percent), the Now 51 compilation descends 4-8 with 25,000 (down 23percent), and 5 Seconds of Summer's self-titled album falls 8-9 with 22,000 (down 8 percent).

Rock band Avenged Sevenfold closes out the top 10 with a debut -- but the title isn’t a new album. The act's second album, 2003’s Waking the Fallen, arrives at No. 10 after it was reissued Aug. 25 (22,000; up 2,500 percent). It’s the fourth top 10 effort for the act.
 
While Waking the Fallen didn’t previously chart on the Billboard 200, it did hit No. 15 on the Heatseekers Albums chart back in 2003 and spent 18 weeks on that developing artists tally. It has sold 693,000 copies through Aug. 31.
 
Over on the Digital Songs chart, Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" holds at No. 1 for a second week, selling 355,000 downloads (down 35 percent).
 
Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" is a non-mover as well, sitting at No. 2 for another week (266,000; down 6 percent). "Bang Bang," by Grande, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, is stationary at No. 3, but posts a big gain -- selling 244,000 (up 54 percent).

Minaj's "Anaconda" jumps 6-4 with 188,000 (up 57%), and Iggy Azalea's "Black Widow," featuring Rita Ora, slips 4-5 with 187,000 (though it's up by 32 percent). Eminem's new song, "Guts Over Fear," featuring Sia, debuts at No. 6 with 134,000.
 
Smith's "Stay With Me" falls 5-7 with 125,000 (up 2 percent); Grande's "Break Free," featuring Zedd, rises 17-8 with 118,000 (up 84 percent); and Maroon 5's "Maps" charts a course for No. 9 (up three spots, 98,000; up 25 percent).
 
Charli XCX's "Boom Clap" rounds out the top 10, dipping 8-10 with 90,000 (down 7 percent).
 
Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Aug. 31) totaled 4.2 million units, up 5 percent compared with the sum last week (4 million) and down 15 percent compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (5 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 158.7 million, down 15 percent compared with the same total at this point last year (185.9 million).
   
Digital track sales this past week totaled 20.3 million downloads, up 5 percent compared with last week (19.2 million) and down 10 percent stacked next to the comparable week of 2013 (22.6 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 774.6 million, down 13 percent compared with the same total at this point last year (888 million).
 
Next week’s Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2013 when: Grande’s Yours Truly debuted at No. 1 with 138,000 and Tamar Braxton’s Love & War started in the No. 2 slot with 114,000. Nine Inch Nails’ Hesitation Marks (No. 3 with 107,000) and John Legend’s Love in the Future (No. 4 with 68,000) closed out the debut-filled top four.
