Overview

The ski jumping competition was held on the Groβe Olympia-Schanze (Large Olympic Ski Jump Hill) at the Olympia-Skistadion in Garmisch. The hill had a K-Point of 80 m although this distance was not reached due to the weather conditions on the day. 48 jumpers from 14 countries competed in front of an estimated crowd of 150,000. [Birger Ruud] of Norway became the first man to successfully defend an Olympic title in this sport.
