Commonwealth Youth Games

The Quaich is a commemorative symbol of the Commonwealth Youth Games and was the initiative of the Organisers of the inaugural Games in Scotland 2000. Donated by the City of Edinburgh, the Quaich is a two handed silver cup sitting 13cm high and 18cm wide with a rich heritage in Scotland, that is passed on from one host to the next at the Closing Ceremony.

At the Closing Ceremony of the Pune 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games the Quaich was handed over to Juliet Holt the President of the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association before a 12000 strong audience. The Minister of the Department of Tourism and Leisure in the Isle of Man Government Mr Martyn Quayle addressed the crowd inviting all members of the Commonwealth to come to the Island in September 2011.

On the 12th September 2011 at the closing Ceremony in the Isle of Man, the Quaich was duly handed over to Tapasu Leung Wei, the President of the Samoa Commonwealth Games Association. Samoa will host the Youth Games in 2015.
