Abandoned Farm House Just North of Itasca, Texas

About a year ago I was working in Italy, Texas for a week and on my way back to Dallas, Texas on the last day of work I did some rural exploring. Since I knew of several old farm houses in the area but never had the time to stop and check them out, I just had to find them again. After exploring the area, I found that two of the three old houses in the area were demolished or in a complete state of collapse and just waiting for someone to haul away the remains.

The old farm house can be seen from I-35W heading south from Fort Worth, Texas and is just north of Itasca. Its just a gutted outer shell of a family’s past dreams and hopes.

I can’t tell how old the house is or when it was abandoned. But it looks like it was built somewhere around the early 1900s to the 1930s and was abandoned in the last thirty or forty years. Maybe longer. I’ve seen a few houses that were abandoned since the fifties and are in better shape than this one.

If you know anything about this old house, please contact me or comment below. In the near future I will be researching this house to write an article over at VanishingTexas.com and would love to have vintage pictures to add to the article, who lived there, when it was built, when it was abandoned and why.

About the Images

The images were shot by hand just after sunset with my Sony Nex-3N and a Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 lens. I then edited the images in Adobe Lightroom. Next, I post processed with Topaz Clarity to add texture, brighten, and bring out the details in the images. Then I removed the dust spots. Finally, I used Topaz DeNoise to remove the noise from the image.
