What is Showcase?
Showcase is the NBA G League’s annual in-season scouting event, when all teams converge in one city to play in front of NBA general managers and player personnel executives from all 30 NBA teams. The 2018 event – Jan. 10-13 in Mississauga, Ontario – will mark the 14th Showcase, featuring 26 games over four days.

Why is it important?
Showcase gives the nearly 200 players on NBA G League rosters a chance to shine in hopes of achieving their dream: landing an NBA contract. It coincides with the period of the season when NBA teams can sign free agents to 10-day contracts.

The majority of players in the NBA G League are free agents who can be signed by any NBA team (click here to learn more about how rosters are built), so a flurry of deals typically occurs during and after Showcase each year. More than 50 players have been called during or immediately after the 13 Showcases.

Where does it take place?

Showcase 2018 will be held in Mississauga, Ontario, home of the Toronto Raptors’ affiliate, Raptors 905, for the second straight year.

Past hosts include Santa Cruz, Calif., Reno, Nev., Columbus, Ga., Fayetteville, N.C., Sioux Falls, S.D., Boise, Idaho and South Padre Island, Texas.

Where are the games broadcast?
A record 14 of the 22 games in 2017 were nationally televised on ESPNU and NBA TV. The remaining eight, like all 2016-17 regular-season games, were streamed live on Facebook Live.

Which players have appeared in past Showcases?
A host of up-and-coming NBA players have put their skills on display at Showcase over the past 13 years, especially since NBA teams often assign young talent to the NBA G League at this time.

Past participants include Heat center Hassan Whiteside, Rockets guard Patrick Beverley and center Clint Capela, Jazz center Rudy Gobert, Nets guard Jeremy Lin, Celtics guard/forward Gerald Green and forward/center Amir Johnson and Mavericks guards Seth Curry and JJ Barea.
