Subhash K Jha | Mumbai Mirror | Dec 8, 2011, 10.33 AM IST Barfee director had offered Shiney Ahuja an important cameo in his upcoming Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana starrer Barfee.
However, the actor who is currently struggling to make his way back to Bollywood, turned it down. And now, Mumbai Mirror has learnt from reliable sources that Shiney's loss has become Bengali actor Jishu Sengupta's gain.
Industry sources reveal that Shiney opted out of the project since he felt that doing a cameo in a Ranbir Kapoor starrer at this stage in his career might be detrimental.
And now, director Basu has decided to cast Bengali actor Jishu Sengupta in the same role. This will mark Jishu's debut in Hindi cinema. Known as the blue-eyed-boy of award winning filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, Jishu is known for his performances in The Last Lear, Abohoman, Shob Choritro Kalponik and the more recent Noukadubi.
When contacted, Basu said, "Yes,Shiney is no longer doing Barfee. We're working on something else. Jishu is doing the role. He's very good."
