Mupopo and Siame storm London Finals

Zambia’s female sprinter Kabange Mupopo is into the finals of the 400m race at the ongoing IAAF championships in London.

African champion Mupopo’s 50. 60 was second and improved her season’s best and was the 6th fastest time of the semi-final.

She trailed Phillis Francis of the USA who clocked 50.37.

Botswana’s Amantle Montsho improved her season’s best to 51.28 to finish with the 11th time while fellow countrywoman Lydia Jele was 13th with 51.57

Siame is also through to the semi finals of the 200m race setting a new national record of 20.29 .

Charlotte Scott, wife of Former Vice President Guy Scott who is watching the finals in London congratulated Mupopo for a “fantastic performance.”

“Lupopo came 2nd in women’s 400m semifinals – fantastic performance again! Our team may be small but they are fabulous,” she tweeted.

Inagural Copperbelt Inter-Company launched

The Zambia Amateur Athletic Association (ZAAA) in partnership with Zambia International Trade Fair, have decided to share the joy and happiness of the Inter-Company by hosting the Inagural Copperbelt Inter-Company on October 7, 2017 at Ndola Show Grounds.

The first Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Madam Esther Lungu will grace the event as Guest of Honor. The ICR – Copperbelt will consist of the followng races/activities:-

1. 16km Relay Race – K5000/team of 8 persons (mixed teams are allowed)
2. 100m CEO’s Race – K2000
3. 100m Directors Race – K1500
4. 7km Health Walk Race – K350
5. 16km Individual Race – K200/person
6. Kids Athletics – Free
7. Kids Athletics (Paralympic) – Free
8. Product Display – K5000
9. Opening Dinner – K300/person
10. Aerobics – K50
11. Tug of War – Free
12. Free Testing & Screening of Various medical Conditions

Note: There will be three hours of Live Broadcast on National Broadcaster and radio stations.

Zambia Amateur Athletics Association (ZAAA) is not for profit, established by the Republic of Zambia in 1964 by Act of Parliament.
