The Wigwam

    The Wigwam
 in Litchfield Park

Overview

The Wigwam is one of Arizona's original iconic hotels. Originally built by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company to house sales executives in the early 1900s the resort evolved as a popular tourist destination when executives convinced their company president, Paul Litchfield, to expand the small lodge into a winter retreat. The Wigwam opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1929, and Litchfield Park is aptly named after the pioneer who established the master-planned community originally known as Goodyear Farms.

The estate-like setting is spread over nearly 500 acres and includes a world-class Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, three restaurants, three bars, four swimming pools, fitness center, conference facilities and three signature 18-hole golf courses - including two historic Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed courses. The AAA Four Diamond Wigwam has been a favorite of visitors for generations and the resort has more grass per acre than any other resort in Arizona. All of the 331 guestrooms and suites feature outdoor patios, balconies or terraces with views of lushly landscaped gardens, vibrant flowers and mature shade trees. A revitalization project in 2010 restored The Wigwam's classic charm and timeless setting positioning it among the top of Arizona's great historic hotels. The classic Wigwam post sign welcomes visitors to experience a familiar picture opportunity similar to those that have donned the historic walls for decades.

The Wigmam, a member of Historic Hotels of America since 2010, dates back to 1929.

Fun FactThe world-famous Goodyear blimp docked on the front lawn of The Wigwam. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. golf courses ("Blue" and "Gold" courses), were named to honor the colors of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company logo.
