Meet Steadicam Operator Melina Savage

In this episode, you will meet Melina Savage. Melina is a Steadicam operator at Turner. What’s a Steadicam? It is a “lightweight” camera stabilizer that allows the operator to maintain a steady, smooth shot even if they are moving while filming. It can weigh up to 75 lbs.
The job of a Steadicam operator is not easy. It requires strength, agility, and stamina, as well as the ability to be creative and think on your feet. And sometimes it requires doing that for 12-hours at a time.
We spent time with Melina on the ELEAGUE set, and she shared with us her experience as a female camera operator at Turner, her career goals and why she loves her job.
