This blog was originally started by Robert Ivan, last on the right, and assisted by the other three dudes above back in 2009. We’ve also published guest posts from knowledgeable fisherman and other outdoor enthusiasts looking to share their experiences and techniques with our readers. The bookends own The Boat. This picture was taken on our way out to a campsite early one Spring.  We caught a few rock bass and Pete’s friends bailed out on us.  It was a great time!

Round Valley Reservoir

The Round Valley Reservoir (the largest reservoir in NJ) is contained within the Round Valley Recreation area in Lebanon NJ (somtimes mapped as Clinton, NJ). The recreation area allows swimming, boating, boat fishing, shore fishing, ice fishing, picnicking and camping. The reservoir covers over 2,000 acres and is approximately 180 feet deep, the deepest lake in New Jersey. It has a water capacity of 55 billion gallons. Round Valley currently holds the state records for Lake Trout 32lbs. 8oz., Brown Trout 21lbs. 6oz., Smallmouth Bass 7lbs. 2oz. and American Eel 6lbs. 13oz. The maximum horsepower or engine size limit as some say, on Round Valley Reservoir, is 10 hp.

Round Valley is located in Clinton NJ and is easily accessible from routes 22, 31, and 78. Click the Google map below for directions.

There are 3 boat launches in the Round Valley Recreation area. The 2 in the fishing parking lots are free for people with a valid fishing license OR boat launch permit. The other boat launch is in the park itself and mainly used by those camping overnight. It is paid access to that boat ramp.

  1. Charlie, Thanks for the inquiry but unfortunately, vinnerbaits have stop producing lures. You might be able to find them on Facebook to see if they have some stuff laying around.
