The Saunders Centre - our new centre for science and technology - was formally opened by Lord Strathclyde on Monday 26 October 2016. The Saunders Centre features 15 state-of-the-art science labs, a 166-seat auditorium, a food technology department, meeting rooms and a range of study and social facilities. The Academy has named the building in honour of Lt Col Frances Saunders' generous legacy to the school he loved. We are hugely grateful to everyone in The Academy community who supported this outstanding project.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme aims to encourage pupils to become more aware of others, to develop high-level teamwork and leadership skills, to help them learn to appreciate their environment, to foster the development of their own abilities, and to give them opportunities to become more self-reliant. The Academy is glad to support and encourage all of these excellent aims.
