Urfa, Turkey– Commander of the Raqqa Rebels Brigade (branch of the Free Syrian Army FSA), Abu Diab, was reportedly killed in the area of Tel Abyad/Girespi in northern Syria on Tuesday evening.
Abu Diab was killed during clashes between Raqqa Rebels Brigade and militants of the al-Qaeda splinter group of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the village of Firee’n, southwest of Tel Abyad in the countryside of Raqqa province, northeast of Syria.
Meanwhile, local activists told ARA News that the ISIL group bombed the water tank in the village of al-Bogha, located in the countryside of Ain al-Essa area in Raqqa province, under the pretext that FSA-led snipers are possibly stationed on its top. By bombing the water tank, people are deprived of the main water supplier in the area.
Noteworthy, several prominent FSA leaders have been killed on the hands of ISIL militants over the recent months.
