DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:30 P.M.) – Fierce clashes ripped through several towns in the rebel-held eastern Ghouta region since early morning, declaring the beginning of a ferocious infighting among rival rebel groups.

According to local activists, the Saudi-backed Jaish al-Islam raided positions and HQ for the Syrian al-Qaeda Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and Faylaq al-Rahman in Erbeen and Kafr Batna.

Dozens of militants have been killed in the clashes including Essam al-Qadi, military commander of Faylaq al-Rahman (photo below) and Abu Ghazi, the HTS emir in Erbeen.

The UK-based SOHR reported that up to 40 rebels from all the warring parties have been killed and and wounded in today’s clashes.

In an official statement, Jaish al-Islam claimed that both HTS and Faylaq al-Rahman have been blocking its reinforcements to battlefronts against the government forces.

“Yesterday, they [HTS and Faylaq] arrested a convoy of reinforcements which was heading to fight the Syrian Army in al-Qaboun neighborhood,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, other sources confirmed that the main cause behind the recent infighting lies in the rivalry for the huge supply warehouses owned by Faylaq al-Rahman.

This is further proof that all of the Syrian government opposition are in fact criminal gangs intent on plunder and the intimidation and theft from civilians.

It is in fact a throw back to Middle Ages Europe and elsewhere where terror was used as a method of control by the ‘ Warlords’ .
