Lt Gen A K Singh to head Southern Army Command

Lieutenant General A K Singh,AVSM,SM,VSM,will assume command of Indian Army's Southern Command on Tuesday.

Lieutenant General A K Singh,AVSM,SM,VSM,will assume command of Indian Army’s Southern Command on Tuesday. The general officer was promoted to the rank of Army Commander on January 1.

Lieutenant General Singh was commissioned in the seventh Light Cavalry,which he had the privilege to command. The general officer has an operational and command experience in the southern theatre having commanded the first T-90 brigade during Operation Parakram and the White Tiger Division. He was also the General Officer Commanding Strike 1 during exercise Yodha Shakti,the largest exercise of Indian Army post exercise Brass Tacks.

A graduate from Staff College,Camberley,UK,Higher Command Course at Army War College and National Defence College,Delhi,the officer has also attended courses in Russia and Sweden.
