Mirror Fix - Mr. Jones Next you will need to move the cover up and out of the way, if you move the mirror all the way forward its real easy. No need to pull the rubber seal out at any time. Next you will remover the two 5/16 bolts from the clamp. Make sure to hold the mirror when doing so, or you could be buying the entire assembly anyway. The whole mirror can now be removed. You can probably see now why everything was moving. Now to the new stuff. Take that piece of plastic sleeve and cut about 2 ½ inches off. You can use the clamp as a guide. Now back to the truck, take the 5/16 bolts and clamp and put them back on, only a little bit of the way, just enough to be able to slide the mirror and sleeve in. Now I only needed to use one piece of plastic bit if you feel the need to use more go for it, but the results may very. Next thing to do is put the sleeve on the mirror and slide it in to the mount. Tighten all the hard ware back up and wiggle the housing back on. I tried to do it once with taking the rubber seal out and was very unsuccessful. Moving the mirror all the way forward helps the most. And now you had a good as new mirror for about $1.50.
